Trainer Customization Thread

Question: I see a lot of trainers on the PSS using sprites of gym leaders, Elite 4, and other important characters (I saw one for Professor Sycamore, for instance). How are they doing this?

Go into PSS -> Hit the Menu -> 2nd Page -> Profile -> Click your character -> and then Public Icon

I love the fact that they added character customization, at least girls have a bit more to chose from...
But I hope they do advance on it a bit more, there was a lack of dresses that I found odd as you start off with a dress. Coats act as a dress... should be a coat....
And you can't really be 'special' like only selected hair colours, male hair styles I've heard aren't what guys actually want. And there's no theme like 'Oh that guy's a fire type trainer for sure!' or buy clothes like characters in the game.
I do see them adding Team clothes unlikely because it would be a little odd, unless it was after the champion is beaten and the Team otherwise the grunts would treat you like one of them like in Heart Gold and Soul Silver. But why not gym leaders? I loved the Fairy Type Gym leader's clothing! Like the Gym leaders' clothes are unlocked in a special shop once you beat them?
But I do love how far you can go currently from not being able to customize at all! From shoes to socks to hats to hat accessories! It's a very nice touch and even with the limited hair styles and colours you can at least make it look like you! I do have all the clothes and such, I also love how you can change the eye colour!

These are very good ideas. They could do a lot with the customization but it seems like they purposely didn't do much - most likely because it is the first time they have done this and they wanted to test it out first to see how everyone enjoyed it. Hopefully an update or the next installation will be much more thorough.

i definitely cant customize my character to look like a certain type trainer but i try my best. i like whats offered regardless but i do wish we had more options

So I had to do a little bit of boasting because I love my current character design so much >.<

Current Characteristics
Dark Skinned (I say she looks kinda Native American or Indian but that's probably just me)
Black hair cut in a bob (Wasnt sure about it at first but I ended up loving it)
Blue eyes

Clothes:
I tried to go for a sort of gothic style with her or at least a more darker theme than her previous styles

Black Sweater
Black and White leggings
Black Hat
And a black skirt :^)

I wish we could make outfits using Vivillion patterns as a sort of mini-game, I would love to give her a Monsoon themed attire

Honestly, the only thing that really disappoints me with the customization is that there's no striped shirt combo in yellow. You'd think they'd at least go for more than 3 or 4 colors for some of these outfits.

I really like the character customisation in this game. The only thing that disappoints me is the lack of hair colours to choose from. I wanted to make my character have dark pink or purple hair but I'm limited to "natural" hair colours.

I noticed that some of the outfits were really expensive, unless you did a lot of battling, and I am happy that they are doing the discount coupon item download in japan, and hopefully everywhere else. I am wondering though, will the coupon work with the hair salon. (P.s if you do t know about the coupon, it was announced on the main pages news feed, it cuts the prices of all clothing by 50%.)

My trainer has short black hair, hazel eyes, a green shirt, blue jeans, the sunglasses and boots of course, and the black and white poke ball hat. I love the customization! <3

I totally agree with this.

I have some clothing I want to put on my character, but I can't because the color won't match the other clothing she is wearing......if only there's another color for it.

Fedora, Midriff Halter, and Pleated Skirt should have got more color variation.

I am wondering though, will the coupon work with the hair salon.

I doubt it, besides, the hair salon is not that expensive anyway.

This needs to happen. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little upset to visit every shop and have nothing left to buy. I still can't decide what to wear =.=

I have to say I'm not all that impressed with the costumisation options. It sure is great to be able to do it, but it's something that defenetely needs to be expanded in future games.

And, what a shock, the female character is once again awfully neglected in comparison to the male one. Why can't I have knee-lenght pants? And the jacket+ striped undershirt combo? And the Pangoro hat (instead of that ridiculous Slurpuff dress)? And that awesome chess-pattern fedora????? talk about unfair ;_;

I was initially set on dressing my character with my favorite colour combination (white and red) but I simply gave up when I realized that the only red top available for the female character is some sort of ridiculous mini-sized sweater. Gosh, I wonder how they came up with that. It's been almost a decade since anyone was actually wearing belly shits, let alone belly-sweaters.

So in the end I settled for:
Grey felt hat, golden star-shaped pin, yellow t-shirt, black shorts, punk slashed socks and the default tennis shoes. I'd never wear yellow in real life but whatever, it's still a pretty nice ensemble.

On a more positive note, one thing I'd really like to thank GF for is the presence of black and white striped socks. Seriously, how awesome is that?! The actually did it! I'm so happy for those, as well as for the punk socks. Dunno if they were worth the generally poor clothes choice, but they were a really nice addition. If they take those away in the future I'll be mad.

I haven't, but I don't want to buy any of the other clothes, so it's pretty much useless to me too.

I think the customization was a cool idea. I wish there were more options for hair color. Since I always max out my money, I'm glad there is something for me to splurge on. I must say though that some of the clothes are ugly.

The customisation is good, but there's so much that could be improved for a more unique experience.

For one thing, why not let us choose a height/model like you could in battle revolution? I'd rather be as tall as the adults (or close to it) than look like a ten-year-old.
Second, hair colours. Give use a slider or something, cause I want to be able to have hair in the same colours as other characters in the game!
Third, glasses. I don't want my sunglasses to always be on my hat! Let me wear them properly! And add real glasses, for that matter. I'm not even a glasses wearer IRL and I want that! Oh, and a monacle!
Fourth would be the ability to REMOVE THAT HAT. I'd look so much nicer without it.
And finally, more clothing options overall. I was hoping the coupon release meant they'd also give a patch with more options. I like my classy lumiose boutique stuff but they're always the same clothes and it's really dull.
