In this trainer scenario, I will be using the Pokemon Adventures as the basis here as their depictions of the Legendary Beasts are easily the hardest to capture and present the most interesting and toughest challenge out of any of the mediums that may force you to get creative in this discussion on how to catch the Legendary Beasts. For starters...
  • The Legendary Beasts are looking for worthy trainers to call master.
  • This means you won't find them. They will find you when you least expect it.
  • You have no time to prepare for them. The Legendary Beasts prefer to catch you off-guard when you least expect it. That means you may not have time to get the rare Master Ball or prepare for traps.
  • They normally search for powerful trainers, like Gym Leaders, so all of you are expected to be at Master-levels of a Pokemon trainer at this point with very powerful and skilled Pokemon. They are not interested in new and weaker trainers.
  • They will stop battling and escape once you've disappointed them. They are not dangerous however. In fact if your ever accidentally find yourself in danger, they will leap in to save you.
What are the legendary beasts capable of?
Suicune
is the most crafty and clever of the three and is easily the hardest to capture.
  • He can purify water.
  • Suicune is capable of walking on water.
  • Winds flown to the north is a sign that Suicune may be nearby.
  • Suicune is capable of creating mists.
  • He's capable of creating "illusions" through mists. The "Suicune" your fighting might be an illusion. How will you solve this problem?
  • His exclusive Adventures ability is called "Crystal Wall". It is an impenetrable crystalline barrier shaped like Suicune's crystal-crest. He can use this to trap people or shield himself to make his escape. The only way to go through it is if you have the item, Clear Bell, which is an extremely rare single item that none of you have.
  • If the Crystal Wall is erected and is still there, that means Suicune is still in the area. If it disappears, he has likely escaped.
Entei is the most fiercest and intimidating of the three, bringing a sense of momentary fear in even the most strongest and bravest of trainers.
  • Entei can dash across lands at "extreme speeds"
  • Entei is known for his brute force and exterme firepower.
  • This is not ability but a trait of Entei invoking a tense and fierce vibe combined with his fairly large size can intimidate even the strongest and most bravest of Pokemon trainers with a momentary sense of fear, such as Clair of Blackthorne City.
  • Entei can heal others and himself with his exclusive Adventures ability, "Flames of Life" passed on by Ho-Oh. You might know this later on in later generations as the move, Sacred Fire which is also passed on by Ho-Oh
Raikou is the least well-known of the Legendary Beasts in terms of personality but definitely should not be underestimated.
  • Raikou is lightning fast. He undoubtedly escapes the fastest.
  • Raikou has powerful control over electricity. Raikou's Adventure-exclusive ability is manipulation of any kind of electricity including other Pokemon's moves. The weaker an electric move an opponent uses, the easier it is for Raikou to assert control and manipulate it such as transforming the weak "thundershock" move into an electric cage to trap trainers.
  • Raikou's purple cloud-like cape on his back are literal thunderstorms he carries. He can easily create thunderstorms anywhere and any place he wants including indoors. By extension he can also use the move "Thunder" practically anywhere with a huge hit radius and will almost never miss unless you somehow block it.
So here's the scenario.
You read a notebook, know what they are capable of. Regardless if you plan on capturing them in the long-run or not, you have a powerful and talented team of Pokemon. You get caught off-guard by one of them and don't have enough time to prepare. The only time your given is that the Legendary Beasts stand there waiting for a response. You wait too long, they leave. You pull out a Pokeball in order to battle on an instant, they accept the challenge. Cause your still in the middle of your Pokemon journey, you don't have the Master Ball yet.

So from this scenario, how would you attempt to capture one of the legendary beasts knowing what they are capable of?
