Trainer tower question

I noticed that Blissey in the trainer tower has leftovers so I checked bulbapedia and it lists 2 pokemon holding leftovers and one holding a shell bell. Can I use thief to get these? I tried using my underleveled Hypno's thief, but it always faints before it gets its turn.

I also believe not. You can always check for yourself (just make Hypno your hightest level Pokemon and hence the rest will also be equal to it), but if it's a challenge with no exp. points if memory serves, then no for sure.
