Training?

How do people train pokemon to really high levels and beat the game in under 100 hours? I'm still training my pokemon in my emerald version to level 20 and I don't even have the Mauville City gym badge...I've been training for over 60 hours.

i dont know but my sapphire is at 75 hours and i beat the elite 4 around the 25th hour. i have most of my pokemon around lvl 50 and have 2 level 100's

i really dont know why it takes so long for you to train, Maybe your training hard to train pokemon?

Edit: I beat my Ruby and Sapphire but I only trained about 20 pokemon the whole time, beat the Elite Four and then trained the rest of them...but I wanted to train first so that I could actually USE the pokemon...

Aroud route 117. It's better than looking for Illumise and having them use Moonlight when you get them down to red...

There are only somany places you can Traine Pre-Maulve. You need more EXP to level up after awhie, and , unless you have Colo/XD Beaten and are playing on R/S, theres no real fast way to train

Okay...but I train on Route 117, where the pokemon give you at least 150 exp points...the only pokemon that don't really level up fast for me are Nincada and Ralts...

I train with the Elite Four, and Route 117. It obviously depends on the type of Pokemon I'm training, and what level it is.

But it takes forever to train...I have 1 box FULL of pokemon...and about 9 in another box, and that's it. So it takes a long time to get them all to level 20. And I have to have them at that level anyway to beat Wattson...

Havn't gotten to the Elite 4 obviously...but that's how I train on my Sapphire and Ruby versions...

If I understand this right, you're taking the wrong approach to training Pokémon. I may be a bit old-fashioned or something in my ways, but I usually pick my team at the very beginning of the game and only train those Pokémon as I go along. For example, in FireRed, my team this time around contained Charizard, Raichu, and Pidgeot, so the only Pokémon I were training by the time I got to Pewter were Charmeleon, Pikachu, and Pidgeotto.

This way you're not spreading experience points out among 20-30 Pokémon, some of which you may NEVER use. Save that for after you beat the Elite.

I think I can answer your question. Did you know that the experience a Pokemon needs to reach Level 100 depends on the species? Some can be trained pretty quickly. Others, like maybe Blazaken, need a LONG time.

Oh, I think Blaziken is easy to train...but Ralts, Aron, Elektrike...HARD.

Maybe I should try that instead. But I want to complete my pokedex sooooooooooooooooooo bad. I've never completed my pokedex before...EVER. It would be so nice to before the Elite Four. I doubt it though.

Good luck with completing your Pokedex! I completed it three times: Gold, Ruby and Emerald Version. But anyway, I actually found training Torchic pretty hard.

Someone said above that they pick their team at the beginning of the game. That is exactly what you should do, you should decide on one party that you would definetly want in the end. These pokemon that you choose are the easiest to train because they get the experience from every trainer/gym leader and so on. These few pokemon will get to lvl 100 if you get to the elite 4 and keep redoing it.

Ichoose you Pikachu!
Man, when I was new to pokemon, all I did was catch a lot, but only train my starter and legendaries, because I was a begginner when I played ruby, and only trainer my Blaziken and Groudon. By the time I had defeated the elite 4, my blazekin was lvl 86, and my groudon was lvl 71. But since I chose torchic as a starter and did my first pokemon game the hard, hard way, now I am a great trainer.BTW Im stuck on leafgreen, my pokemon are around level 40 and im in cinnabar. I am gonna start again:(

Best Psychic Type.
In Fire Red, I just train all of my pokes to Lv. 20 by Cerulean, then Lv. 28 by Virmillion, then Lv. 36 by Saffron. I'm currently at Saffron, so I'm not much higher. Preplanning your team helps, and so does the VS Seeker. All of my main pokes are Lv. 35 by Saffron this time. It's actually enjoyable to train them this time for some reason. It always used to be a drag.

See, I train the same way Doglover is training his/her Pokemon. I train in a certain area until I'm at least several lvls ahead of the wild ones and then switch to another area.

The way he does it is good. Why? I did this method on Crystal and I had NO Badges but 45 Pokemon on my PokeDex. I did trade over the Johto starters (remember, this is Crystal I'm talking about) so I would have more on my PokeDex. After my first Badge, I had 65 or so. I played my game at different hours of the day to obtain different species.

Thanks Golden Latios! Well, all the starters need 44 points at level 5 to reach level 6. Some pokemon need 72, 114, or 169, I think. Obviously, 169 is hardest to train.

Off-Topic - I almost couldn't beat Koga in my FireRed...I decided now to train all of my pokemon to level 40, even the hard to train ones. Growlithe is my strongest right now...pretty sad...but I really want it to learn Flamethrower and then I can use the Fire Stone for it to evole into an Arcanine that will immediately learn Extremespeed. *huggles Growlithe and Arcanine* They are sooooooooooooooooooo cute!
