Trapinch design based on Scizor's claws?

Awfully similar. Coincidence, or purposefully designed? Note at least one Pokédex entry for Scizor, if I recall correctly, states its claws are made to look like heads to scare away enemies. Could it be Nintendo needed something with a similar head, so stuck it on Trapinch?

Wow good eyes! Yeah there was a thread a while ago about Bayleef's leaf and Skarmory's tail looking similar.:D

When I read my Prima Guide it states there are hidden links between a few Pokémon.

My god it's true. O.O But compare that to the standard Animal Crossing item leaf. It's the same leaf-with-a-circle-chewed-out-of-it.

Come to think of it I have seen other things that look like spheres with zigzag lines for mouths. Like Chain Chomp for example.

So, maybe there are certain archetypal Japanese design standards that emerge in different and completely unrelated circumstances. So, a coincidence, but an explainable one. Maybe.

Yeah there is a lot more to the designs and origins of Pokémon than people give the creators credit for. :p

Indeed, the ghosts that lick to attack and blobs with an eye in the middle are very common. Maybe it's Japanese myth?

Yeah, you're right. I'm sure that it wasn't intentional, and that it just came to the creators. As many people said, it could be a very commong Japanese way of portraying a mouth. Come to think of it, it does look a lot like stuff I've seen before, and am too lazy to remember.

Also, Trapinch is supposed to be an ant. Maybe, from up close ants are supposed to be scary (which they aren't to me, but then again, to me, no animals are scary except cocoroaches...*shuddder*), and the claws on Scizor are mean to scare away other Pokémon, for reasons not known to us.

Again, I do not believe that it was on purpose...

Actually, trapinch is meant to be an ant-lion, a carniverous desert insect. As for the similarity between the two, I'm sure its just a coincidence, as with bayleef's leaf and skarmory's tail.

I once also answered a riddle that likened Trapinch's jaws to Corphish's pinchers.

Nooo! I'm too young!
They're kinda running out of ideas so they just take whatever and turn it into a pogey.
