Tsareena's 50% held item rate

I am playing sword and have been farming Tsareena for grassy seeds from the world map (Stony Wilderness, using changing date while in a den trick to respawn her). And after 22 attempts so far, nothing.

Strat: noivern frisks her and if she has grassy seed (which i desperately need), then butterfree with compound eyes steals it. Problem is...she NEVER has a grassy seed. Every site says 50% chance so clearly im doing something wrong. Any thoughts?

The Compound Eyes user has to be first in your party when you start the battle for the boost to apply. Lead with Butterfree instead.

22 encounters dry is still very unlucky even without the Compound Eyes boost though. I'm sure you already did but in the off chance you didn't, make sure your Thief/Covet user doesn't already have an item. I can't say that there hasn't been a time that I stole an item and then forgot to remove it before attempting to farm more items.
