TV with no picture?

Okay, so I've been begging my parents for a TV for practically forever.

So they finally gave me theirs. ...but it has no pictures.

You can hear the sounds fine, but no pictures. It's Vizio and about a year old if that helps. Can anyone tell me what's wrong or how I can fix it without taking it to the shop and fixing it? I'm practically broke...

You may have to retune it, or check that the cables are fully in.
