Milo weaponizes his gay identity against the greater queer community (e.g. he's transphobic af). Like, the only reason I don't want to say he's part of the queer community is an obligation to not play gatekeeper, but he inflicts so much harm on the community he supposedly represents.

There's actually a lot of gay racists though, especially in Europe. Far-right fascist groups there literally try to recruit white gays using anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant rhetoric.

True, I should've said *"in Americas", since in Americas racism and homophobia tend to go hand in hand, whereas in Europe it is largely the opposite.

You can be prejudice while being also being in a group people are prejudiced against.

AMLO's victory shouldn't probably seen as a victory for left, per se, but a victory for anti-corruption. His political attempts to create a left-wing force date back at least 30 years, with the creation of both PRD and Citizens' Movement. The only reason he has won this specific time is because the establishment parties collapsed on their own weight, and Trump.

Of course Obrador will be the president of Mexico until around of end of Trump's second term, so that bit should be interesting.

What makes you say this? European social conservatism really isn't any different from the American version; Europe isn't very 'European'.

That was quick.

"But it will never actually happen!"
"It's good to have competition!"

Gosh, I'm (minimally) sorry to anyone here who follows these ideologies, but I really hate all this capitalist crap.

This has to be my favorite part though:

Carriers argue that many consumers can't tell the difference between 480p and higher quality on smartphone screens.

How are wireless companies, like, comfortable calling themselves tech companies and offering cutting edge mobile devices while being by far the most out of touch, clueless, greedy, hypercapitalist entities in the modern world?

Like, if they really believe consumers stop seeing a difference at 480p on their full HD and higher 2018 smart phone screens... I just can't continue that thought, that claim is as ludicrous as the prices they want to charge.

Whatever, I guess taking advantage of consumers is the name of the game!

I figure that's PR. I'm sure ISPs privately think people know the difference between SD and HD video quality, but publicly deny it.

Edit: It occurred to me they are probably expecting people to notice the difference and hoping they'd drop Netflix and watch cable or Hulu (Comcast is a major stockholder) rather than pay the extra fee.

And more Pruitt "scandals." He forced younger co-workers to cover his travel expenses and refusing to reimburse them and he's been using his position to solicit a 200k job for his wife.

And I put scandals in scare quotes because, while they are absolutely scandels, the media keeps pretending one of these will be the "gotcha!" moment to stop his primary scandal. That scandel namely being a shill at the EPA who can't do his job; yet, somehow, it's that one the media can't call a scandal.

All the ISPs at the start were going "We support you, the consumer!" while quietly setting up for this. They almost have their own complete regional monopolies, so there's no real negative unless they call for a vote against it.

I don't know how much this qualifies as news. When Ajit Pai killed net neutrality, we all knew something like this was going to happen. Now it's official.
Not surprised by it. They'll do it just to try to force their hand to get customers to go back to cable.

They really don't like it when customers watch tv over streaming.

Yep. It's a joke in some areas, being stuck with two companies, both of which are horrible.

Rafael Correa is now under an arrest want by his successor Lenin Moreno. Seems like the Left, specifically the socialist left was far too soon to congratulate Moreno.
Ecuador has been going under a right-wing shift from left-wing to center-left to seek more friendly relations with the US. With Trump reviving the Monroe Doctrine(and failing), the geopolitical situation in Ecuador will likely continue to be pretty bad.
Welcome to the new and worse Operation Condor, I suppose.

What people aren't even talking about is the writer of that bill even talks about how he didn't consult a single Trans person on this, mentioning he knows whats better for them.

The worst thing about the bill is that young people who are experiencing gender dysphoria absolutely need strong support networks to help them make important long-term decisions. This bill will only discourage young people from seeking out those networks, because they won't want to approach some of those best-placed to help.
