U.S. Politics: The Biggest Trade in WNBA History

After rising to he highest point since COVID-19 outbreak coming to the West in February, Dow has crashed and burned yet again, partially due to the decline of oil prices.

Other news:
-Kosovo-Serbia negotiations in the White House has begun today, and will continue tomorrow.
Dow continues its crash due to declining oil prices, but Kosovo-Serbia deal is apparently successfully in terms of economic domain, even though we don't know the details.

Full recognition by Serbia is still long way ahead, which means Bosnia is still the next in line for NATO. We shall see the situation by December or next year's July.

Either way, Trump needs a serious diplomatic win for elections in November, and while his recent diplomatic moves are huge geopolitically, they remain vague in terms of actual progress. He needs to find his October Surprise, and fast.

Edit: https://europeanwesternbalkans.com/...-white-house-cover-wider-scope-than-expected/
Some details of Kosovo-Serbia deals are here. In short:
*Serbia recognizes Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
*Kosovo and Israel recognize each other.
*Kosovo and Serbia will both join mini-Schengen.
*Both sides won't build their 5G infrastructure with China and will "diversify energy resouces", ie. buy oil from US.
*Both parties Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.
*Both parties will work to decriminalize homosexuality.
*Both parties will restart their railway initiatives.

Trump wishes to exclude wounded veterans from military parades, because, in his words, "nobody wants to see amputees."

This also comes from prior evidence when he called veterans who died in the war "suckers and losers" when asked to visit a cemetery honoring them.

The story was written by Jeffery Goldberg for the Atlantic:

https://www.theatlantic.com/politic...ho-died-at-war-are-losers-and-suckers/615997/

Obviously the comments, if true, are pretty appalling - though that’s nothing new for Trump.

You often hear people say that nothing Trump says should surprise people anymore, but this attitude is quite surprising. There’s the obvious hypocrisy - the rationale for taking such umbrage to the protest by football players kneeling for the national anthem, was that it was supposedly disrespectful to military personnel who had died for America. Ditto for renaming bases named after confederate generals.

And while hypocrisy is, again, nothing new for Trump, this is on quite a deep level. The military and respect for the military is very important to conservative values and culture and to the republican ethos of the last few decades. There’s a significant number of military families who form part of his base. It’s an outright rejection of a core aspect that’s supposedly underpinned modern conservatism in a way that sounds like its almost design to disgust and revolt people for whom those values are important

It makes me wonder what exactly his ideology is - Repulsion for people with disabilities is reconcilable with fascism, but he’s also apparently considers people who join the military to be, quote, unquote “suckers” and threatened to disinherit his children should they even enlist. That makes me think that he’s more of a nihilist only interested in his own standing and, possibly, in enriching himself as much as possible during his tenure in office.

So how do conservatives react - for the most part his hard core supporters seem to be just denying the story as more “fake news.”

Pretty much. Trump knows his supporters will believe anything he says. And if it's on video, he'll just say that he isn't what he meant. Conservatism is whatever Trump decides it is now.

He could pivot left and tout medicare for all and call it "patriot care" or whatever and his base would love every bit of it.

And not to say I "I told you so" but to people that fear mongered all day long during the primaries that Bernie wasn't the pick because they would call him a far left commie, I told you they did that to Barack Obama and they will do that to *anyone* Now, they're doing it to Biden and Kamala. When Trump is on air saying wind energy in far left radicalism, maybe everyone can shut the **** forever about being too insecure about leftist candidates.

The overton window is going to keep shifting further right because democrats are massive cowards who keep falling into the trap conservatives set for them about appearing too far left. It's the entire reason we're forced to choose between a moderate republican and a ****ing nazi right now.

I don't think Mr. Rogers was one of those people that had a bad bone in his body despite what political faction he may have aligned with.

I give Mr. Rogers bonus points for getting Fox News to say that he ruined the younger generation for saying they were special.
Word.

Just found a good LA Times article about him, and his wife mentioned that he was a Republican but with very independent leanings (para-phrasing here).

https://www.latimes.com/entertainme...ow-legacy-a-beautiful-day-in-the-neighborhood

A good read and look into him as a person.

Things are getting heated up over Trump denying he mocked fallen and captured soldiers as he is fact-checked to hell.
Yea heard about that and his wife said the stories weren't true. So I'm betting it is.

You will be happy to know that, out of 18 million veterans, 700 support Trump. He is happy and giddy.

So you know less than 1% of veterans are traitors.

Also, Osama bin Laden's niece is endorsing Trump because she believes he won't make another 9/11 happen. What the absolut-?!

The news so far:
*Sudan has decided to end its 30-year long Islamic regime in agreement with the Darfuri rebels.
*Oil continues to slide-down alongside Dow futures. WTI crude currently 38 dollars per barrel.
*Two Belarusian opposition politicians have been removed from the country to Ukraine. Maria Kalesnikava, the third remaining major opposition figure, remains unknown, as she reportedly tore her passport to avoid being kicked out of the country.

https://menafn.com/1100761269/Venezuelas-Constituent-Assembly-No-New-Constitution-on-the-Way

Meanwhile, in Venezuela, the Constituent Assembly failed to draft a new constitution, and has now accepted the Assembly elections on 6th December 2020.

Hard to say this will resolve the Presidential crisis, especially as Russia now needs Maduro for geopolitical reasons. Same for Guido and US.

One of the suggested changes for the new constitution was allowing same-sex marriage and legalizing abortion. Neither is constitutionally banned in Venezuela, but since Maduro lost the National Assembly, legislative option was gone, and legal action was effectively frozen under the anticipation for the constitutional changes, much like in Chile.

November can't come soon enough! Just as a Canadian, gotta say we are all VERY excited for you guys to kick Trump out of office. Please do it for your north neighbors, we're starting to get our own crazy movements that are sounding like "Make Canada Great Again" and it's scary.

Outrage has sparked against Trump (act surprised) after a recording from Bob Woodward reveals he knew the severity of COVID-19 since February 7th but has downplayed it ever since, which didn't stop him from holding weekly rallies.

Also, he's being nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize for his handling with the Israel-United Arab Emirates peace conflict. Don't act so surprised, though, because he was nominated by a crazy right-wing representative who also nominated him some years ago. And it isn't hard to be nominated for the achievement as there are over 300 nominations.

The Admiral

the star of the masquerade
As Trump de-planes in Michigan, he had the song "Fortunate Son" play.

Except he totally doesn't know what the meaning of the song is about, which...can heavily relate to him, but not in a good light.

Y'know, Republicans missing the point of rock songs is basically a meme at this point (see Reagan and "Born in the USA" in 1984), so all I'll say is that I hope John Fogerty sues the **** out of him.

https://edition.cnn.com/2020/09/11/politics/israel-bahrain-trump/index.html

This went under the radar, but apparently Bahrain is going to normalize ties with Israel.

Some further details of the arrangement has been revealed:
*Agreement forces Israel to shelve its annexation of West Bank for the time being.
*Actual deal will be signed Tuseday next week.

As Bahrain is heavily dependent on Saudi Arabia for the preservation of the monarchy (read Bahraini protests during the Arab Spring), this means Saudis will have a deal with Israel later. But, the deal will be more comprehensive since it will likely include which groups to support in the upcoming invasion of Iran and US pressure on Aramco privatization.

Edit: Global corona cases now surpass 29 million, with Kuwait, Oman and Belgium surpassing China.

Edit 2: https://edition.cnn.com/2020/09/16/americas/barbados-queen-elizabeth-scli-intl-gbr/index.html
In another huge geopolitical shift out of nowhere, Barbados will remove Queen Elizabeth II as its head by next November 2021.

Trump was questioned yesterday by people undecided to vote about his handling on the pandemic, says he was "unplaying" the whole thing despite evidence saying he was downplaying it. He also went on to say that, once again, the virus would disappear by itself if people developed a "herd mentality," which...shockers(!) is the wrong term (it's "herd immunity").

So cue Floridans showing off their stupidity by harassing Target with an anti-mask protest within the damn stores.

You know, I worry that we're gonna get screwed over by this virus. According to a poll, the majority of Trump supporters asked have no issue voting in person while the majority of Biden supporters asked prefer to vote by mail. I worry that Trump will succeed in suppressing the mail in vote.

https://twitter.com/CNN/status/1295852363442294785?s=19

He accuses the Democrats of rigging the election while he openly tries to suppress mail-in voting. Projection at its finest...

On a related note, I had a dream two nights ago where Joe Biden won the election and even flipped the state of Texas. Realistically though, I don't see Texas voting Democrat in 2020, but it could happen sometime later this decade.
