• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

MAGAts are crying about the trial date being "election interference" because it falls close to Super Tuesday. JFC its not preventing people from voting or anything, or trying to overturn results. The orange one is already trying to appeal this trial date, but I think we're well aware that Judge Tanya Chutkan is not gonna put up with this BS.

I heard that there was an attempt to have that case go to West Virginia’s system, however unlikely it was to succeed. Is there a definitive result on whether such an attempt occurred, and whether that failed?

I’d hate for any surprises to ruin the 4 time sexual predator’s well deserved trip to ADX Florence or USP Leavenworth. Assuming the answer to the above question is a definite failure, I think this is a open and shut case.

Trump and co. want to delay the trials so that if in the chance that Trump gets reelected, he can do the unprecedented move of pardoning himself and others and claim innocence per public mandate. The Republican Party and Supreme Court are so compromised and beholden to him that they won't do anything if Trump pardons himself.

They want the Georgia RICO case to be moved to the federal court because they can get a more favorable jury (an Atlanta-based jury probably won't be too kind on Trump) and once again, they can go all-in on winning the election to pardon themselves. Under Georgia law, to receive a pardon, inmates have to complete sentences of at least five years before being able to apply. So they'd be screwed if they lose the Georgia case. I suppose the Republicans in the Georgia state government will do anything to remove Willis and/or try to change the laws so people found guilty of state crimes can be pardoned earlier.

For those of you interested in special elections, the primary for Rhode Island’s 1st district is today. If any of you live there, you have until 8 PM EDT to cast your vote. Rooting for Aaron Regunberg.

EDIT: Gabe Amo has won the primary instead, to some mild surprise. The establishment strikes back once again.

So, a Georgia grand jury recommended charging Lindsey Graham due to his calls to the Georgia SoS. These calls made said SoS feel like Graham wanted him to throw out votes in heavily Democratic areas. And yet Fani Willis decided not to indict that sniveling brat!? Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot.

He certainly will not be voted out, which is yet another testament to how big of a shithole state South Carolina is, as it re-elected him in 2020 by TEN **********ING POINTS.

If there *is* evidence for impeachment, as well as for Hunter Biden, who got indicted on gun charges today, I certainly encourage them to present it.

Which is a key difference between us and the MAGAts who continue to threaten our lives … they worship the orange pervert and refuse to look at the warehouses of evidence against him.

As someone who was a UAW member while I was at grad school, I would like to show some solidarity for the ongoing strike at the 3 Detroit automakers. If anyone plans to do anything with cars, I humbly ask that they contact a UAW member first. And please do not cross any picket lines.

The below is my go to song whenever union members are striking:

After over two months, we now know the third retiring House member who is not running for another office: Jennifer Wexton from Virginia's 10th district. Fun fact, her victory back in the 2018 midterms was one of the first House flips that got called and was a good sign that the Democrats would flip the House before the night was out.

The circumstances behind this retirement are rather sad: After initially being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, she is now diagnosed which Progressive supranuclear palsy, which is basically a worse version of Parkinson's disease and is a really horrible condition to suffer from. Prayers to her.

Virginia's descending into GOP madness. Women there might lose reproductive freedom entirely there because a Democratic House candidate decided to post a sexually explicit video with her husband. I also wouldn't be surprised if Rep. Wexton's district flips next year.

I respectfully disagree with your last sentence. While the Democratic Party of Virginia has a long way to go to get back the ground that they lost over the past several years. I do not think that Virginia’s 10th district flips in 2024, based on the current climate. It will probably be a single digit race, but the district is too far gone for the Republicans to win there on the federal level.

Even in 2021, where the Democrats massively screwed up and handed the governor’s mansion to Glenn Youngkin because of the serious mistakes that Terry McAuliffe made, Glenn Youngkin lost this district by 1.6 points. The downballot details for this area are here is anyone is interested in seeing them.

If there is any concern that needs to be made when it comes to a Virginia district flipping to the Republicans, it is Virginia’s 7th district. Glenn Youngkin won this district by 4.9 points in 2021, and the incumbent, Abigail Spanberger, is also retiring to run for Governor in 2025.
