So, with one day before we see if America will fall into an eternal nightmare under the orange convict, I am going to make my final predictions regarding the Senate:
I believe that the Republicans will pick up West Virginia, Montana, and … that’s it.
My hottest take is that they fail to flip Ohio, as I feel that Bernie Moreno has made one mistake too many in that race. Combining this with Sherrod Brown’s incumbency advantage, Ohio Democrats’ decent downballot organizing, and the Democratic resurgence in the Midwest, I believe that Sherrod Brown will eke out one final term. Despite Elissa Slotkin’s unappealing personality, I think that Mike Rogers has made too many organizational slipups for him to win in Michigan. Wisconsin and Pennsylvania might get close due to the presidential baseline, but I think the incumbency advantages of Tammy Baldwin and Bob Casey will pull them through the finish line. Finally, I think that Kari Lake has completely blown her race in Arizona due to all of the “fraud” BS that she pulled since her 2022 gubernatorial defeat. I will greatly enjoy seeing Ruben Gallego achieve the only realistic pickup opportunity this cycle, as he is a serious, serious upgrade to Kyrsten Sinema, who will not be missed at all for all of the garbage that we endured from her over the past 4 years.
Granted, picking up West Virginia and Montana is unfortunately still enough for the Republicans to seize control of the chamber with 51 seats. It is just so upsetting to see how incompetent Montana’s Democrats have gotten in organization, as I saw firsthand on how its volunteers have just been merely going through the motions without making any headway. The campaign leadership for Democratic campaigns up and down the ballot is total garbage and have not taken in volunteer feedback in a meaningful way, and Jon Tester does not have nearly enough support in the areas where he needs it the most. In short, Montana will be written off for good for decades to come, as I see no further point in devoting any time or energy to it in future cycles.
Anyway, my first priority is to check up on food, clothing, ammo, medical supplies and other necessities for the coming weeks. I think it best to do so while prices are still reasonable before the post-election rush jacks up the prices. I am also carefully reviewing my home defense plan to make sure that there are no flaws it for various invasion scenarios. Finally, I plan to follow the shortest routes from work to home to minimize contact and maximize my personal safety chances.
After all, it’s good to be prepared for anything for the next few months, especially since I am not lucky enough to leave the country, right?
