RPG Thread | Discussion Thread

Plot
(U)topia is an MMORPG, enhanced by the new technological developments in virtual reality. Players are required to own a cellular device, as well as a headset that was sold specifically for (U)topia --- known as a (U)JOIN. With the creation of (U)topia by the <3KARAFT group, people of all ages were able to gather in a safe electronic space and discuss their interests. Using log in information and a virtualized avatar, people were allowed to remain behind a face while accessing the internet to discuss their interests; while still remaining in their homes physically. It was revolutionary, and the units needed to access (U)topia were cheap and easily accessible. The units themselves resembled plugged into your smartphone and had a built in chat function under your alias, as well as giving the players the ability to customize their avatars with the click of a button. To access (U)topia, the users simply typed their log in information into the console and attached the goggles that came with the device; rendering them unconscious and able to visit the vast land of (U)topia within virtual reality.

There were the peaceful chatrooms, where players would simply be able to sit and discuss various things within the comfort of a virtual space. People from all over the world could meet, be face to face with each other. But then there was the real draw in for players, the true purpose of (U)topia. A vast world that players could explore with their avatar, taking on various classes in order to defeat the creatures wandering the world. It was a gritty roleplaying game, taking on a darker atmosphere. Many of the locales were shaded in sepia tones, with danger lurking around every corner. The NPCs were rather standoffish, and death was punished by kicking you out of the game world for a real time ban of twenty-four hours. It was revolutionary, and players became addicted extremely quickly. There were reports of people so invested that they would stay in the game world until their character died, waking up days later. <3KARAFT was an intelligent company, allowing players to eat and sleep in real time within the game, meaning that you could play for long amounts of time without ever feeling hungry. People began to lose sense of reality, confused as to what was real and what was fake. The game had blurred the line, and many people couldn’t see past it.

People in reality were so convinced they were in a game that they would roam the streets with weapons in hand, causing terror and chaos. The <3KARAFT company has issued a few apologies for the realism of their game, but it caused news stations to begin talking about the problems with addiction. However, the concerns of the public did not cause the playbase to decrease --- it actually caused a large influx of players to begin coming from all areas. New areas were created, as well as further options for character customization. The game became so popular that most of the population owned the headsets that were needed to access the game, and the <3KARAFT company kept expanding the world.

The revolutionary game kept growing stronger, only praise could be heard from the public --- much different from the initial reaction to the game. The line between reality and the game kpt growing thinner… many players swore that they were beginning to see the monsters from the game in their day to day lives; however, <3KARAFT explained that it was a normal side effect and not a cause for concern. As more reports of such phenomenons grew, you found yourself drawn to the game, becoming increasingly curious as to why people became so invested in it. You armed yourself with a guild, a group of your college friends, all of which had a keen interest in mystery and unexplained phenomena, and plunged yourselves headfirst into the game.

Little did you know, <3KARAFT’s true colours were only beginning to show… and the fun had yet to begin.

Information

You’re one of the aforementioned college students, a member of a club for investigating the bizarre who has finally grown curious enough of the game to buy a headset. This RPG will have sections in the game world, as well as in the real world --- as such it is important to balance your student/life duties with the game world itself. Make sure not to get too into it though… you wouldn’t want to start seeing those figments. This RPG as a whole will focus mostly on solving the mystery behind (U)topia and <3KARAFT, but it will also focus on character relationships and inner struggles. There will be elements of violence, as well as some suspense and thriller elements --- which is why the R rating is in place.

> (U)topia Info

With a customization system as deep as (U)topia, you can make your avatar whatever you wish… within a few small guidelines. Your avatar must be human, for the most part. Avatars are allowed various animal parts, within reason --- and they are even allowed to be of the opposite gender of yourself, it is a game after all. The game requires you to put in an alias or username, which is what you will appear as to your comrades in the game. Think of it like a codename, as it is what you will be referred to when in the game world.

The class system is also very diverse, allowing players to choose from an extremely large amount of unique classes. I will allow creativity and freedom within classes, just remember that (U)topia does have a grittier atmosphere.

The RPG itself has a leveling system, allowing you to gain new spells and skills dependant on your class. There are 4 tiers to every class, we will obviously be tier 1 to start --- meaning you are at the lowest level you can possibly be. At plot points in the RPG, our characters will advance a tier, allowing them to gain a few new skills or spells.

>> Character Info
As previously stated, your character will have a real life version --- this is your character. The avatar they use in game is just a subset of themselves, meaning that although you may be using an alias/codename, it is still the same character --- just hiding behind an avatar.

Your character is a college student, meaning that they could be anywhere from 18-30. They can be studying any sort of major, the only thing that is tying our characters together is their shared interest in the unknown --- which is why they are a member of this club. This RPG will be taking place in a fictional location known as Lunarville, which is like any standard American city. (For all intensive purposes, compare it to New York in your head).

Appearance:
FfW9E0K.png
qUNoOaA.png

Arabella stands at around 5'5" and weighs, a weight --- her future modeling career would prefer that you don't know her weight. Her body type could be described as pear shaped, she's thin but she has very wide hips, leading to a wide waistline. Her breasts are an average B cup, nothing too special up in that department. Her skin is fair, pale, and filled to the brim with a tremendous amount of freckles. Her pale skin makes them appear even more present, as they are rather stark against her pale frame. She wears a bit of makeup, some blush for sure --- her favourite shade is pink, causing her cheeks to appear flushed and full. She also adores black eyeliner to compliment her large purple eyes, which are full of wonder and curiosity. As well as a copious amount of snark. Her hair is long, wavy, and bright ginger in colour. She was blessed with the ginger locks that her family is known for, a commonality in her home country.

For clothing, Arabella is fashionable --- which is the hope of someone who desires to be a fashion designer and model in the future. Her usual outfit consists of a dark blue romper, as in those silly hipster pieces of clothing that are basically a one-piece bodysuit with shorts. It has lighter blue triangles on it, as well as a light blue belt in the center to separate it's halves. Over this, she wears a light blue jacket, just to keep her arms warm. On her legs, she wears white thigh-high stockings with black pumps.

In (U)topia, Arabella appears as her avatar --- who looks remarkably like herself in the real world. Except of course for her fox ears, gun arm, and fox tail. She wears minimal armor, befitting to her stealthy sharpshooter class. The only armor she has is a breastplate, spats for her knees and shins, and a cape. Her tail is to make herself more agile, and her ears are to pick up sounds better than the average human. She has goggles that she will often put on to protect her eyes from the elements, as well as focus on her targets. She puts blue warpaint on her face.

Personality: Arabella's name is said to mean beautiful, which is something that she unfortunately knows she is. Arabella comes off as somewhat snarky, replying to whatever is said to her with sarcasm and a casual "well, like, yeah, but whatever.". She has a typical popular girl attitude, as it was what she maintained throughout high school. She thinks certain people are simply lesser than her, which probably isn't helped by her rich upbringing. She's snooty, uptight, and extremely sarcastic and apathetic. She loves using her good looks, along with a cute voice to get whatever she wants out of the opposite sex. Fellow women hate her, and she uses men as simple pawns for the most part. She has never found someone that she considers herself to have formed a genuine connection with, and perhaps someone might be able to come along and change that for her. For now though, her vain and apathetic nature just loves to make people squirm.

Around those in authority, or for her work --- she tends to be as sweet as can be. She puts on a cute face, acting innocent so that no one would think anything negative about her. However, this side can actually be described as Arabella's true side. Her main face is actually a facade, created from reacting to the years of bullying she faced in her formative years. She doesn't like to let people in, she would rather they see her angry apathetic side --- that way they would never ever want to get to know her closer than they already did. In reality, she worries about others more than herself, not that she would ever let you know this. You're far more likely to never see this side of Arabella, instead put off by her initial popular girl facade.

Arabella loves cracking jokes, as well as taking selfies. She's very concerned with her self image, as well as her follower counts on various forms of social media. She'll often take out her phone at the worst possible times, ensuring to take a selfie to post to her blog or her instagram. She is a little pessimistic, preferring to believe that everything in life is going to have a negative outcome so that she won't get herself hyped up for something to happen. She's a tad boy crazy, often playing out scenarios in her head with various "suitors" --- which are usually just cute boys she saw for a few moments in public. Despite acting dumb to get male attention because she thinks it's cute, Arabella is actually extremely intelligent. If she didn't love fashion as much as she did, it is very likely she would've pursued a career in biology or chemistry. Her humor is often based in politics, or scientific references --- she gets frustrated when people don't understand them and will often resort to crude humor, such as insulting her peers.

History: Arabella Elyn Monet was born to Jacques and Elena (nee: Leroux) Monet, an older couple who was living in Paris, France. They had been struggling to have a child of their own, Jacques had been hoping for a son to take over his family business --- a wealthy electronics company that manufactured various cellular models. Unfortunately for him, his excitement was cut short upon seeing that his future successor was in fact a female. Himself, being older and in turn old fashioned, did not believe that a female should have free reign over a company --- but considering the complications that followed her birth, he knew that young Arabella would be his only child. Arabella had a good childhood, considering that her parents were extremely affluent, she was able to receive anything she asked for, and was given heaps more on top of this. She grew up in a manor, and this became the norm for her. Her parent's various servants and butlers admired the girl, she was much politer than her parents --- probably because they had enrolled her in a regular school rather than sending her to some fancy boarding school.

She did well in her formative years of schooling, until of course her parents decided to move. Her father's company had grown even more successful, and due to expanding efforts --- he was tasked with moving the headquarters to the beautiful American city, Lunarville. Arabella was extremely upset by this, she liked France, she loved the food, the atmosphere, and how polite most of the population was. She had heard rumors that Americans were rude, obnoxious, and that their food was no where near on the same level as France. Despite her protests, her parents went ahead with the move --- all while Arabella was a mere eight years old. Following the move, Arabella became withdrawn, angry at her parents. She took out her aggression on her peers, causing her to become a negative face at the school. Other children began to bully her, as she had done the same to them. They mocked her for being different, as apparently owning servants wasn't quite as normal as she once assumed. She was ostracized by the other students, and eventually grew to be just as snarky and rude back towards them. The rest of her elementary and middle school career went by about the same, people would make rude comments towards her and she would be almost as quick to make them back. Students hated her, and teachers worried that it would affect her grades. However, she drew more interested in her studies as a result --- having a particular flair for fashion and design within her creative works. Many teachers found her art beautiful, and thought that it might be a future career for the young girl.

High school was a different beast all together. The girl had grown extremely interested in makeup, as well as making herself look pretty. She began to turn heads, as the saying goes. All those that had once bullied her flocked towards her, as looks/looking nice was all that really mattered in high school. She had a huge group of friends, and was considered very popular. It wasn't a shock to anyone when she was finally asked out by a fellow student, becoming the first of her friend group to get a significant other. His name was Alexander, and he was all the ever wanted. He treated her well, bought her gifts, and took her on as many dates as two young fifteen year olds could go on. They dated throughout most of high school, and she was happy --- finally being normal and having a normal boyfriend who she adored. However, all wasn't as well as she assumed it was. Alexander confessed to her one night, after dating her for two years that they were not working out. The reason? He just didn't feel the same, and wasn't sure how to bring it up. Arabella was devastated, she thought he had loved her. She had given so much of herself to this boy, he was her first kiss... and of course, her first bedmate. She couldn't believe his feelings had changed so quickly.

She graduated the next year, alone, sad, and feeling worthless. She applied to various colleges, hoping that one would allow her to escape the awful memories she had here in Lunarville. Unfortunately for her, Lunarville had one of the best art programs of the state... and they were who accepted her into their ranks. Begrudgingly, she went to Lunarville University --- or is it's usually called "Moony Uni". Here, she tried to branch out a little. She was taking a design course to give her a future in modeling/clothing designer, however all her friends from high school had gone off to various other locations --- leaving her very alone. While browsing the coffee shop on campus, she came across a poster for a club for investigating the unknown... the paranormal, the unsolved. It was right up her alley, considering she had a great interest in true crime and various other things. She walked to the room the club was held, coming face to face with Alexander once again. She flushed red, but pretended that she didn't even know him for a bit --- in order to not get hurt again. The club grew close, becoming friends even outside of school.

During her first year of college, she had heard about a game called (U)topia. It was growing extremely popular --- but allegedly there were issues with addiction. Now in her second year, there have been reports of people seeing the monsters outside of the game and not able to distinguish reality from the game. Herself and her peers from the club grew curious, purchasing headsets for the game. Now, they hope to enter (U)topia for themselves... get a peek around, maybe even solve these odd issues.

Other:
- Theme Song
- Her favourite color is blue
- She loves music, dancing, and she does her own makeup tutorials online.
- She still has feelings for Alexander.

EDIT: WIP

Name: Joshua Hudson
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Major: Economics

Alias/Codename: GamblingKing
Class: Mercenary
Skills/Abilities:

Close Defense - Increases physical bulk by a small amount when attacked by a melee weapon.
Coin Toss: Follow-up - With a mysterious coin Joshua carries, if he calls out the right side of the coin when tossed, Joshua can make a follow-up attack during combat. Multiple coin flips in a row end up not giving any effects.
Coin Toss: Attack Increase - With a mysterious coin Joshua carries, if he calls out the right side of the coin when tossed, Joshua's attack power increases. Can be done twice per battle/sparring session.

Weapon: Slaying Edge - A sword that sometimes may score critical hits. Currently, Joshua's coin does not effect whether he scores a critical hit or not.

Appearance: Joshua is a six foot tall person who's glowing in health despite his usual life. He has black hair that goes down a bit further past his neck. Joshua's eye color is blue and wears contacts so that he is able to see better (his eyesight is not terrible but these contacts ensure that he can see everything in all distances). Joshua wears a gray shirt covered in a black coat with two pockets on each side, one having a coin inside usually. Jeans are Joshua's most common clothing piece with a black-colored belt inside the belt holes. For footwear, Joshua's wears black-colored sneakers alongside black-colored socks. Joshua has a light-brown colored smartphone with the usual apps for messaging and other needs along with games that usually deal with the ever infamous gachapon.

In Joshua's avatar alias, his clothes are not much different from his normal attire although the coat is much slicker which helps Joshua move a lot faster than he normally would in the real world. Joshua's coat also provides him with better defense against melee attacks. Interestingly, there is a small pocket for his coin that he uses to wager his luck in battles. Strapped on the right side of Joshua's pants is a holster carrying his Slaying Edge. In addition to this, Joshua's eye color is red now instead of blue. Joshua's sneakers now become black-colored combat boots which helps him move in any environment with ease.

Personality: Joshua is known as an aggressive gambling addict who enjoys testing his luck against both himself and others. He is actually approachable and sincere in front of others but that won't stop him from asking people to wager their luck with a toss of a coin. Therapists have tried to suppress Joshua's gambling addiction but Joshua ends up going for more coin tosses and rolls in his gacha games via micro-transactions. Joshua's mindset is that about everything in life is determined by luck and is the reason why most of his decisions are decided between heads or tails. Due to this, Joshua is somewhat carefree, not worrying about how he needs to be serious in everyday activities other than obtaining his college degree. Joshua also has only been recently able to legally gamble in casinos and his luck so far has been in top form although when it runs out remains to be seen. With the money Joshua wins, he uses it to support himself and Vanessa and keeps a bit of extra cash to wager more with others.

Despite this, Joshua has a hidden soft spot for his own family. Secretly, Joshua is actually from a high class family and left on his own accord at a very young age due to him wanting to further better himself so that he feels worthy of being in a high class family like his own. Despite this, he feels regret about leaving his own home sometimes and promises that one day, he will return to his family along with a college degree along with a high paying job to show his family how far Joshua has come. This part of his heart is preferably not to be pried upon with the exception of Vanessa. So while Joshua enjoys the luck of the draw a ton, somewhere hidden in his heart, Joshua truly desires to just see his family again with proof that he has grown up strong and intelligent from the years that he has been absent, feeling that simply returning without any notable achievements would forever make him not worthy of being in a high class family.

History: (how you joined the unknown club is important, this should end with you buying a headset for the game… none of us have entered it yet) Joshua's life is a cornucopia of fun, adventure, and regret. Joshua is a part of a high class family who are millionaires. He originally had his own parents and his older brother. His origins of his gambling addictions go back to his childhood as he would often bet with his older brother on a variety of things such as who would win in a video game competition or simply coin tosses between them both. Joshua's parents have told him that luck does not play a huge role in life and that Joshua should focus more on his skills he is great at rather than have Lady Luck decide everything move for him. Despite these words, Joshua continued to follow his own path of believing in luck...which in turn plays a part when he grows up.

At the age of eleven, Joshua's brother had already obtained a masters in Economics and got a job in the government. Wanting such a degree as well, Joshua made Economics his choice of degree in the future. Still thinking that luck should decide everything, Joshua made a fatal decision: That a single coin toss would either keep him in the mansion he was raised in or venture away from his family and follow his own path to an Economics degree. Heads would be that Joshua stayed and Tails would mean that Joshua would go out into the real world despite his young age. The coin landed with tails facing up and without his parent's notice, Joshua went out of his mansion and started his own adventure when his parents were asleep.

While walking toward whatever fate would take Joshua, exhaustion and hunger eventually got the best of him. By chance, a car stopped on the side of the road where Joshua was at and the person got out of her car to take Joshua under her wing. The woman drove back to her house which was far away from Joshua's hometown and asked if Joshua had a home to which he replied with him saying "Unfortunately, no". The woman introduced herself as Vanessa who was 20 years older than Joshua and offered Joshua to stay with her for the time being. Joshua decided on a coin toss to make his decision, heads to stay and tails to only temporarily reside at Vanessa's house. Heads was the side that fortune favored and thus Joshua stayed at Vanessa's house.

Joshua was home-schooled since the day he stayed with Vanessa. He learned all what he needed to get a good start in his dream degree of Economics. At the age of seventeen, Joshua started to feel like not his usual self and Vanessa asked what was wrong with him. Joshua responded to Vanessa saying that he somewhat wished that he didn't leave a coin toss to decide his fate and that he deeply missed his parents. Vanessa, saddened by this, thought of a solution where Joshua could hone his lessons that he learned during his stay: a college in Lunarville. Joshua agreed to Vanessa's decision and decided to do all that he would to get in. Thanks to a few lucky bets and scholarship money, Joshua managed to be able to afford the tuition to go to college. At this point, another life-turning change came.

Starting college, Joshua was unfamiliar to the outside and social world that he was locked away from for so long. In order to remedy this, he found a couple of men gambling money with one another. Joshua asked if he could join in, saying that he would bet his entire wallet of cash if he could play to which the two men agreed to let him in on the fun. In the end of this session, Joshua managed to win more money from the two men, leaving the two men in shock of his good luck. That luck quickly dried out after Joshua gambled on his winnings for betting with a woman that he wanted to go out with, shelling out $50 of what he earned. Almost every day was contained at least one bet with Joshua to where even the therapists he went to one day did not make things better.

At the age of 21, Joshua found a club that caught his eye that was based around the popular MMORPG named (U)topia. Joshua, as usual, left a coin toss to decide if he would join or not with heads being he would join and tails that he wouldn't. Heads won and thus Joshua agreed to join the club. Of course to join the club, Joshua had to buy the necessary equipment which was the headset needed to go inside the virtual reality. He bought it and was told that strange things were happening with those playing, specifically seeing monsters in the real world. Joshua said to his peers that might partake in investigating the issues if luck decided it. Joshua kind of thought the idea of monsters in the real world was thrilling but remembered in his mind that he wanted to not have his family get hurt should the rumors be true. Because of this, Joshua joined anyway but hoped to get a good price for this so that he would be able to help himself, his family, and Vanessa in the future.

Other: Dude likes gambling, man.

Metallic Wonder
May I throw down a reserve in this?

Vern

Why not both?
All right, despite my better judgement, I'm gonna ask for a reserve - your RPs are always great. Is that fine?

Name: Valerie Arkwright
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Pansexual.
Major: Mechanical Engineering.

Alias/Codename: Firebloom
Class: Pyromancer
- Has the ability to create and manipulate fire. Versatile and has many uses, from ranged attacks to close combat. Generally very aggressive considered a glass cannon.
Skills/Abilities:
Fireblood - Grants a powerful temporary boost to physical stats such as Strength, Speed, and Agility at the cost of taking damage.
Fire Punch - Exactly what it sounds like.
Flame Burst - An attack that involves unleashing a massive barrage of small, explosive fireballs. Can be used at any range, although its effectiveness drops exponentially as distance increases due to erratic accuracy.
Weapon: Ruby Amulet
- An amulet that hangs around her neck. It protects her (and her clothes/items) from her own fire. It has an ability called ‘Heat Surge’ that can be used once an hour to drastically increase the damage of her next attack.

Appearance: (Image is for the Avatar, but they look similar enough)
pLIX5jm.png

Valerie is a bit taller than most people her age, but not by enough for it to be immediately obvious - especially given that the overly relaxed, almost slouching posture she likes to assume tends to make her appear shorter than she actually is. She has the body of an athlete, lean and efficient, although if you look closely enough, you’ll find that at times it appears almost a bit too lean, almost a little unhealthy. Her hair is naturally a brown colour with a reddish tint, but she had dyed it a vibrant, vermillion red a while back, and some of the colour hasn’t entirely faded yet, leaving streaks and odd patches in it here and there. She generally ties her hair into a loose ponytail above her neck, and lets whatever’s left just sort of hang there in a sort of spiky mess. Her skin is relatively pale, and has a good scattering of scars and marks and such on it. Her eyes are a very bright green colour.

She dresses primarily in baggy, crinkled clothes, looking quite scruffy. Her standard outfit is a white (or pale grey) t-shirt, underneath a large black hoodie with dark blue patterns haphazardly drawn onto it, usually zipped only halfway up. She doesn’t like dresses or skirts and doesn’t own any, instead just opting to wear long trousers that usually pool around her ankles. Her clothing is rarely ever symmetrical, and always tend to have odd colours on one side. She likes to wear a glove on her left hand for convenience’s sake (so she can handle dangerous materials without having to go through all the trouble of dressing up for the job), keeping her right hand un-gloved for comfort. Occasionally she switches hands.

Within (U)topia, her normally quite angular and sharp features become rounder and less defined, which, coupled with the slightly larger and rounder eyes, resulting in an overall ‘cuter’ and less ‘edgy' appearance. Her avatar wears a black tank top (leaving her stomach exposed), a set of large, black gloves that go halfway up her forearm, and an olive green cape that’s visibly longer and wider on the right side. She wears a pair of baggy trousers that resembles the kind she wears in real life, but also a long piece of flowing cloth tied around her waist. The avatar has a set of tattoos on its right arm as well as the left hip, and her hair is tied into two braid-things instead of one.

Personality: To most people, Valerie has the demeanour of a ‘cool big sister’. She’s upbeat and energetic, generally having a grin on her face, and tends to treat everyone like a friend. She isn’t the type to go around cracking jokes or attempting to lighten the mood, but her presence tends to have the effect of cheering people up due to her own infectious cheerfulness. She’s generally easygoing and quite carefree, preferring not to dwell on bad things and just enjoy herself. She likes helping others and being someone people can depend on, although sometimes that ‘like’ can turn into a bit of an obsession with being that sort of person. Having made a few mistakes in the past and caused her family a good deal of trouble, she feels the need to make up for that by being dependable and sometimes almost overprotective of people she’s close to. Occasionally this (along with her naturally rather aggressive personality) can lead to more trouble than it’s worth, although it’s usually not much of a problem. But regardless of the motives behind it, she’s almost always willing to help out anywhere that’s necessary, and because of this she’s quite well-liked amongst her peers. Conversely, it also leads to her being uncomfortable turning to others for help with her own problems, preferring to deal with them herself. While she tends to have tastes that are considered boyish and is looked at by most as a tomboy, she has a thing for flowers and romance, but finds that embarrassing, and takes pains to hide it.

Valerie’s gifted (in her opinion) with the ability to treat things like a game or experiment regardless of how serious they might be, and this sort of devil-may-care attitude is prone to getting her into all sorts of trouble - although in her opinion it’s all part of the fun. She has no trouble going against rules or authority, and even takes a sort of pleasure in breaking rules or conventions. While in her past this sort of desire manifested itself in some more questionable forms, she’s mellowed a bit over the years, and now most of that sort of energy is directed towards less damaging outlets such as using machinery that is sometimes unnecessarily dangerous, as well as random ventures into ‘bad’ parts of town or sneaking into places she isn’t supposed to be. While she is very intelligent, she tends to prefer more physical ‘thrills’, and has little interest in academic pursuits. Never one for meticulous planning, she generally likes to dive headfirst into action and work things out afterwards.

While she’s normally easygoing and would let most things slide, if you cross certain lines, she can suddenly and without warning become aggressive and generally unpleasant. When she is for some reason or other unable to be her cheerful, slightly over-bombastic self (be it just out of a lack of adequate sleep or some sort of super-serious event with super-serious regulations), she tends to deflate a little, and becomes more touchy and sometimes even cranky. She doesn’t take very kindly to having her freedom restricted, and isn’t afraid to fight you (in any or every sense of the word) if you attempt to force her into something she doesn’t want or out of something she enjoys. She also has a tendency to swear a lot, and also still retains some of the slightly-arrogant standoffish-ness that comes with having been regarded as a bit of a ‘bad seed’ for a not-insignificant period of her life. However, she’s never one to hold a grudge, and unless someone do something incredibly bad, she’s more than happy to forget about any past transgressions and treat people like she always does.

History: Valerie was born into a family that could hardly be called ’normal'. Her mother was mute, her father was an influential politician, neither of which had much experience in parenting children with their own strange tendencies. While at younger ages the tension wasn’t exactly apparent, the confusion the two adults who were still in many ways like children themselves felt now that they had responsibility of their own child was always simmering under the surface. For a while, they managed fine, but when Valerie was five, an ‘accident’ lead to her mother becoming pregnant with another child, and that was when things started to go slowly downhill.

It was obvious from the outset that Val was an exceptional child - smart, sporty, outgoing and beautiful, she had everything people liked in a girl. She was popular at kindergarten and with all of their family acquaintances, universally loved and admired. When her brother was born, a temporary hiccup startled the family’s idyllic life, and demonstrated to them how fragile their happiness really was. Val, who until then had been on the receiving end of everyone’s attention, now had to put up with some of that love being directed somewhere else, and, like most children, she didn’t take that too well. Tantrums started, tempers flared, and for a while the atmosphere within the family’s apartment was one of strained, forcefully repressed resentment and anger. Even her mother, who was normally so gentle, calming, and capable of diffusing any bad situation with her silent charm, found herself at a loss.

Eventually, Valerie grew out of her jealous phase, and things settled down once more. However, it wouldn’t stay that way for much longer. As she matured and her talents became even more apparent, her father, who had made a career being a demanding authority figure, naturally became demanding of her. However, having been working with passionate, ambitious adults his entire life, he didn’t know how to treat a child who was neither ambitious nor passionate about anything other than having fun. Under the burden of her father’s high expectations, Valerie became resentful and rebellious. During that time, her mother was ill and spent days sleeping in bed, and her brother was still to young for her to confide in, so she was thoroughly alone in her frustration and anger.

So she became rebellious, deliberately going against her father and her teachers, breaking rules for the sake of breaking them. Having always been a combative person, the energy she had once devoted to sports became devoted to fights, which lead to talks with the teachers and eventually the principle, which lead to a whole boatload of social problems. People who had once admired or loved her realised that their adoration had turned into jealousy of her good looks and her general perfection, and that lead to arguments, which lead to more fights. Very soon, she rarely came home without some sort of figurative blood on her hands. Her father’s reputation soon began to tarnish on account of his daughter’s behaviour, which lead to him being stricter with her, which only gave more fuel to the vicious cycle. By now, her brother Fenris had grown into a antisocial boy with a tendency to lock himself in his room for days, which didn’t lighten her father’s mood. Her own reputation changed from a ‘prodigy’ to ‘a problem child, a bad seed’. Disturbingly quickly, every day became a battleground, and it seemed to Valerie like it was a war between herself and the entire world.

The one release she had was her conversations with her now-eight-years-old brother, who, despite his young age and his distaste for people, was surprisingly understanding and accepting of her. They became very close, telling each other about everything. But he couldn’t help her in the way she needed most - what she wanted was not an ear to tell her problems to, but an ally, or even a weapon in her fight against them.

So things continued getting worse and worse, until one day, she was run over by a motorcycle as she stormed off after yet another fight with the very same people who had been her friends in kindergarten.

In a way, this sort of shock was exactly what the family needed. In the danger of the moment, all the previous tensions diffused. Her father came every day to visit her in the hospital, leaving his work to the side (with results that weren’t exactly pleasant). For weeks, Val drifted in and out of consciousness, and by the end of it the things they were arguing about no longer seemed so relevant. While she made a relatively complete recovery, she became unable to take part in strenuous exercise over extended periods, and had to give up her sporting life in favour of pursuing the one other thing that had grabbed her interest in her youth - machines.

Her father’s career as a politician had been sent into a downward spiral by his daughter’s antics, and eventually he, in his words, ‘gave up his career of spouting pointless words to start a new life and get an actual job’. The family moved into Lunarville, where her father found the ‘actual job’ he was talking about. After the multitude of hiccups caused by her disciplinary problems were sorted out, she was accepted into the Lunarville University to study Mechanical Engineering. Now that her family was happy and content again, she was capable of relaxing and attempting to enjoy herself, and even got involved with a boyfriend - a quiet guy named Kite, who was also studying the same major (although their relationship soon evolved out of romance and into something more like ‘just very good friends’). At the suggestion of her brother (who pointed out that ‘a not insignificant amount of cool stories involving students involve some sort of ‘club’ where the main characters congregate’), she began looking for a club to join, and eventually settled on one dedicated to investigating the unknown, which piqued her curiosity.

Things continued like that for a while, until (U)topia happened. Her brother, who had always been obsessed with the concept of virtual reality, immediately got his hands on a copy of the console, and soon became engrossed in it. Since he was aways a bit of a shut-in and would often spend hours alone in his room in front of his computer, nobody really minded this new development. Sure, he started showing up to family meals less, but it could just be a phase, and he was doing perfectly fine in school despite his shoddy attendance record. Eventually, however, he confided in her that he was starting to see visions, saying with a joking tone that ‘hey, don’t worry, this could turn out to be one of those ‘cool stories’ I was telling you about’. Curious and concerned, she bought herself a console along with the other club members, and started investigating.

Other:
- She prefers to be called ‘Val’.
- She’s technically dating someone, although it’s not really a romantic relationship and more like one between friends.
- She’s ambidextrous.
- Favourite colour is orange.
- Really, really likes cats. She thinks it’s embarrassing.
- Has a thing for EDM. Contrary to what most people expect, she hates metal, finding it loud and annoying.

If you have room for another, I'd like to put down a reserve. Is an Axe-wielding Forester with minor druidic abilities acceptable?

I'm probably in enough RPs, but if there's room still. I'd like a reserve, maybe for a white mage, a group this size probably needs a couple healers.

can do. You’re reserved.

I'll take a reserve as well if thats alright. I wont be too long in getting a sign-up together.

If you can make it work in the world, I’m fine with it. Reserved.

That takes us up to 9, so I think we’re going to say that there in one more spot.

Appearance:

nQDAnxL.png

Leo is a tall young man, standing at 6'0". He is physically fit and quite strong, with a toned athletic physique that he is quite proud of. Due to living in a tropical place most of his life, and because he often goes outdoors, his skin is lightly tanned. His face is round, free of blemishes, and rather boyish. Marked by large expressive blue eyes, a small nose, and a usually smiling mouth. These features give him a rather youthful appearance. He has short, close cropped black hair, with messy bangs that cover his forehead, and go to his eyebrows. A strand of hair on top of his head always stands up, no matter how much he tries to comb it down. He doesn't mind it though, thinking it makes his hair more distinctive. Except for the top of his head, and eyebrows, the rest of his upper body is void of any hair.

For clothing, Leo generally wears what is comfortable. Usually whatever he pulls out of his closet that day. It usually includes a pair of jeans or cargo shorts, and sneakers or sandals on his feet. He can often be found without a shirt. This is because he was rather scrawny when he was younger, so now that he's put on a little muscle, he likes to show off the results. When he must wear a shirt, it will usually be a skintight tank top, or something low cut/not buttoned/zipped up all the way, and without a shirt underneath. He's not comfortable wearing cloaks or heavy clothing that covers him up too much. He will dress up for formal occasions and colder days when he needs to, but he usually takes it right off when he's able. He wears a pair of red aviator goggles on top of his head. He doesn't use them, he just thinks they look cool. His favorite outfit is a red, sleeveless, muscle shirt, with a pink V-neck, and a pair of jeans held up by a belt on the bottom. His sneakers are red and white, wheels in the soles. The wheels can pop in and out when Leo puts weight on his heels, allowing them to function like roller skates. He carries his things in a simple pink backpack.

Physically, Leo's game avatar looks exactly like he does in real life. Mainly because he didn't know what to change, as he like the way he looks. Lionheart wears a medium amount of armor. Enough to provide some protection, but still light enough that he can move around without being weighed down by heavy armor. His game avatar wears armor in a color that is in between red and pink. It consists of a chestplate with matching gauntlets and greaves, covering a red sleeveless tunic. The bottom of the tunic peeks out under the armor. He wears a pair of pauldrons in the same style as the armor, He wears red tights on his legs, and pinkish red knee-high riding boots on his feet. He dons a red headpiece that has two red jewels on either side that have wings attached to them. The armor has a flowing red cape.

Personality: Leo is a bright, cheerful person, with an optimistic view on life. He can often be found with a smile on his face, even when things look bleak. As such, he often makes jokes, and does silly things when the situation is tense to lift people's spirits, but his attempts to make people laugh sometimes gives others the impression that he doesn't take things seriously. Leo has no idea how to react if somebody accuses him of this, other than shrug his shoulders and move on. He believes there is some good in everyone, and for that, he is very trusting of others. A genuine nice guy, he is always willing to help someone in need. Often putting the needs of others ahead of his own. After his parents divorce, and dealing with bullying, Leo is able to empathize with others in a similar situation. He makes it his personal mission to befriend and help people like this. Sometimes though, he can be too nice, to the point of gullibility, and people often take advantage of him for it. Leo is very outgoing and social. He likes meeting new people, and making new friends. He is not afraid to strike up a conversation with a random stranger. He openly expresses affection through touching in the form of hugs, holding hands, as well as stroking and grabbing shoulders. Being used to having to watch over his little sisters, he's become accustomed to taking care of people. He is loyal, empathetic, and very protective of those he cares about, making him a good friend to have.

Leo is very energetic. So much so, that it is very difficult for him to sit still and concentrate on one thing for long periods of time. Because of this, he likes to actually do stuff, instead of sitting there reading about it. While he is able to think quick on his feet during intense situations. he often acts impulsively, and jumps to conclusions without thinking first. Unlike a lot of guys he's known, Leo is the type of guy who wears his heart on his sleeve. His feelings are there for everyone to see, and he's pretty easy to read. For example he cries openly during the endings of sad movies, and is affectionate towards close friends. Due to his cheerful nature, it is usually difficult to anger him. That said, Leo is not perfect, and is prone to having a bad day just like everyone else. When things becoming overwhelming, he has really bad angry outbursts where he just lashes out at the most appropriate target. Leo isn't one to hold grudges for very long, and is very quick to forgive people.

Leo has an affinity for cute things, and is not ashamed about it at all. One of his favorite things at the moment is the TV show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, which he watches regularly with his youngest sister. He is an unabashed Brony, he has a collection of merchandise from the show, and often makes references to it in everyday conversation. He's aware how silly it might look for someone his age to be liking a show aimed at little girls, and generally he has a good sense of humor about the whole thing. However, he does get defensive if someone makes fun of him for it. He's had bad experiences with bullies as a kid, and he fears having to experience that again. He likes fantasy and fairy tales, and he developed most of his idealistic beliefs from them. He also likes other things some would consider childish as well. He can cook well, due to having to make dinner for the family when his mom was working. He particularly enjoys making (and eating) desserts. This is because he's found that sharing sweets with others is a great way to bond with people. Although he tries to keep it in moderation.

Despite his optimism, Leo still has some insecurities from his childhood. He masks it with a smile and laughter most of the time. but it still lingers in the back of his mind. These feelings are what drive him to get stronger, and to make more friends. Those same reasons are why he dresses the way he does. and takes opportunities to show off his strength without actually bragging. He doesn't want to have to deal with bullies ever again, and he feels like getting people to like him means they can't be bullies.

History: Leo was born in Miami Florida. He was the oldest of three siblings, and the only male among the three. His parents' relationship became strained after his father, Leroy, lost his job shortly after the youngest daughter was born, and the family started experiencing financial troubles. It was not helped by Leroy turning to Wine to drown his sorrows, which worried the rest of the family. Leroy and his wife, Luisa, often argued loudly during the night. While things never escalated to physical violence, but the yelling still made the three kids uncomfortable. Despite the drama, Leo tried to put on a brave face, and hoped things would work out in the end. Eventually Luisa got a promotion at her job that made up for the loss of income, but by then the damage was done, and Leroy filed for divorce.

Leo currently lives with his mom, and his younger sisters Lilly and Lucy. He is much closer to his mother than with his father. They were not wealthy, but they weren't poor either. Being a single parent, Luisa often had to work long hours, leaving Leo responsible for looking after his sisters, and taking care of household things while she worked. Unlike a lot of other boys though, Leo didn't really mind this, and actually enjoyed it. As a result of this, he became accustomed to taking care of people. He also learned a lot of domestic skills, and became very good at cooking.

He was a rather scrawny child, and he was often picked on by bullies who thought he was weaker than them. It did not help that he was a sensitive kid, and he had a taste for things that are usually considered girly by others. He would come home with bruises on a regular basis. His father did not help matters by suggesting that living in a house full of girls was turning him into one. While all the bullying upset him, he kept up a cherful demeanor in front of others, not wanting to burden them with his problems. He believed that if he thinks positively, things would get better. Even though Leo admits to himself that he doesn't get along with his dad, and he will avoid talking about him to others, he still doesn't hate him. He clings to the hope that they will be able to reconcile.

Around the time Leo entered puberty, things started to change. His mother announced that her office was transferring her to some place called Lunarville, and that the family would be moving there. While he was nervous about moving to a new state, Leo remained positive. Moving to a new place gave him the opportunity to change his situation. Deciding that he no longer wanted to be a wimp, and a constant bullying victim. He started working out and getting into sports, which resulted in him putting on a little muscle, and making new friends. Due to his social personality, he quickly became quite popular on campus, particularly with other girls. He also maintained good grades. Life was actually starting to look up. Despite how well things were going, he didn't let it get to his head. He still remained the same sensitive kid he always was.

After graduating high school, Leo went to Lunarville University to study Cullinary Arts. The end goal of course was to become a chef, but more specifically a baker, as he enjoyed making desserts above all else. He came across a flyer advertising a club for investigating the unknown one day, and decided to join on a whim. Paranormal stuff sounded cool, and it was a good opportunity to meet people and make friends. It worked out well on that end. He grew close to his fellow members, and were friends even outside of school.

He had heard about a game called (U)topia. It sounded like a cool game, and was apparently very popular. It was also very addicting, but that's usually normal for hardcore gamers. Then came the reports of people seeing the monsters outside of the game and not able to distinguish reality from the game. That was not normal, and suddenly Leo, and the other club members thought there was something more involved here. Leo purchased a headset to play the game, and see what all the fuss is about. Maybe they might get to solve a mystery on the way.

Other: His favorite color is red. Any shade of red. That includes pink.

Leo is half Italian on his mother's side. He understands and speaks some of the language.

He does not know that Demisexuality is a thing.

He usually develops crushes on people he is already close friends with. Thus making him feel weird to admit to liking his crush in a more than friendly way for fear of ruining a perfectly good friendship if the other person doesn't feel the same. Because of this, he often avoids the topic of sexuality altogether.

Faithful Crusader
Let me know if there's any issue with the class or the style direction I took. I can work up a class change if necessary.

Name: Azusa Morrison
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Straight
Major: Computer Science

Alias/Codename: Jade Rabbit
Class: Summoner

A magic-user who specializes in creating, controlling, and channeling magical constructs, familiars, and spirits. Has limited power of their own and is helpless without their magic.

Skills/Abilities:
- Summon Elemental: Summons a minor elemental familiar. The element is determined by her surroundings. Ex: using this in a rocky canyon would summon an earth elemental. Minor elementals are durable and shaped vaguely like humanoids made of their respective material but have no special powers of their own. Calling one forth is quite draining and must be done sparingly.
- Channel Blessing: Calls on the spirits of the heavens to grant a minor boon. This can heal or revitalize a single ally. Can only be used once per battle.
- Conjure Weapon "Bow": Allows Azusa to create a bow of light from her Lucky Star. This fires arrows of light magic that have little effect on objects but deal magic damage to enemies. Costs a small amount of mana/energy to fire each arrow.

Weapon: Lucky Star - A star-shaped ring of multi-colored light that floats around Azusa's right wrist. It is a solid-light construct that is sturdy enough to block attacks though not as durable as a dedicated shield. It has no attack value of its own, but rather acts as the focusing point for Azusa's other abilities. Conjured weapons count as a summon towards her limit on simultaneous summons.
- Soul Connect: Lucky Star's tier-1 ability Allows Azusa to directly control her summons' every action without the need of verbal commands and gives her a limit of one summon at a time.

Appearance:
pLjEQuB.png
6vBGSor.png

Azusa is about 5'4 and has a slim (some might say scrawny) build. She's a little on the pale side, particularly from spending every moment of free time indoors. Raven hair as straight as a curtain falls down a little past her shoulders with bangs just long enough to cover her forehead. Her eyes are a dull gray color and usually hiding behind a pair of simple thin-framed glasses that she needs to correct her poor eyesight. Contacts are a no-go, so the glasses are ever-present. Most people would consider her default expression to be somewhere between focused and intense and its not uncommon to see her giving her computer, notepad, or cell phone what looks like a death glare when she's lost in her work. This is just her thinking face, she's actually quite prone to getting flustered. Light, neutral makeup is her norm, though she's been known to experiment with crazy lipstick colors. Lime green, purple, and metallic silver among others all have a chance at appearing. The same goes for her nails.

Her usual attire consists of a lime-green tank-top or t-shirt depending on the weather with a non-optional dark-gray jacket that she wears basically every time she's in public. The t-shirt has a black chibi bunny head on it. The tank-top has a black crescent moon. The jacket is lightweight and soft and but otherwise plain and unadorned and has no hood. A pair of gray capris or jeans (again, depending on the weather) complete her outfit. Her shoes are non-descript black and white slip-ons with a star pattern. Around her right wrist is a bracelet of black and white beads, with each bead having a 1 or a 0 on it. The numbers spell out the binary code for the word "Hi".

In (U)topia, Azusa becomes Jade Rabbit, a summoner with lots of flair. Her hair is now white and cut in the "feelers" style where its longer in the front and shorter in the back. A pair of black bunny ears sit on top of her head and her eyes are bright, almost luminescent green as are her lips and nails. Her outfit consists of thin but sturdy black robes that have a strange angular look to them, almost like they were fabric covering thin plates of actual armor. Bright green strings of arcane symbols run across her robes tracing lines down her sleeves and black leggings spiraling across her back and cris-crosing over her chest. The sleeves and leggings end a few inches short of her wrists and ankles, but the green symbols do not and continue onto her skin all the way to her hands and feet. Her Lucky Star weapon floats over her right wrist, slowly spinning and randomly changing colors as it softly glows.

Personality: At first glance, Azusa seems to be the strong and silent type. She doesn't seem bothered or even all that concerned with what's going on around her as long as there's work to be done. Be it classwork, homework, personal projects, hobbies, whatever, Azusa is most often seen with her face in front of a book or a screen and lost in thought. Its also during these times that she might be giving a death glare at her screen or respond to a question with a mumble or a snarky comment. She's never late to class. Always has her work ready to turn in. And never misses a beat with her club duties. In short, she looks like a model student. Until you learn she has a solid B- average and fills her notebooks with doodles instead of notes.

If you can manage to get her away from a page or a screen long enough to break her focus, then an entirely different Azusa becomes apparent. She's quiet because she's nervous about sharing her thoughts. She's diligent because she's terrified of failure. In short, she's an easily flustered bundle of nerves wrapped in a shell of indifference and manners. She's quick to jump to conclusions in conversations and sometimes makes entirely the wrong predictions. She's terrible with remembering names and horrified of calling someone the wrong name, leaving her to sort of float around using names if she's not 100% sure. And she's quick to blush and is easily embarrassed. Social anxiety is a real and present danger for her, leading Azusa to keep to herself and open up to others very slowly. She's typically more comfortable once she's gotten to know people a little better, but is never more than one misstep away from panicking. And then there's her persona when online (and in (U)topia) where she's confidant and earnest and has all but forgotten her issues with dealing with people.

There are two things that make Azusa completely and totally forget she's supposed to be nervous. Finding out someone likes the same super nerdy things she does and someone showing a genuine interest in her projects. For the first, almost anything will do. Start a conversation about boys and she'll go red in the face and slowly back away. Start a conversation about comic book heroes or giant robot anime and she'll go from zero to sixty instantly. For the second... its a bit more complicated. If you act interested in a code she's working on for example, she'll gladly talk about it. But if she finds out you don't actually know your stuff, then the conversation is over. She's got no patience or tolerance for fakers. But if you're straight with her about trying to understand or learn about it, then you might have better luck. All in all, she's agreeable and trustworthy, but very slow to trust others.

History: Azusa is a military brat. Her father was a Caucasian American in the US Navy, and her mother was a native born Japanese woman, making Azusa herself half-Japanese. For a good portion of her childhood, she was back and forth between the states and Japan, a few years here and a few years there as her father's work promotions took him to various places and she and her mother followed. As a result, she was never in one place long enough to make any lasting friends and as an only child she had no siblings to lean on.

The shock of new schools, new faces, new teachers, and the flip flop of two different cultures took their toll and Azusa slowly withdrew into her world of online acquaintances. Before too long, she had a whole network of friends from various parts of the internet. Chat room friends to bounce ideas and news off of. Gamer friends to blow digital bad guys up with. Native speakers of English and Japanese to help her keep up with mastering two languages at once. Her friends existed only as handles and avatars to her. And it was there in the digital world that she felt free of her anxiety and really opened up to people.

Of course, with a loss of interest in the real world social dynamics came a loss of effort on her grades. Her grades tanked in high school, and it was only due to her not wanting to disappoint her parents that she recovered enough of her GPA by senior year to get into a decent college. And when her father landed a cushy desk job in Lunarville, they suddenly had a way to pay for it too. Unfortunately, this meant that Azusa was going to be thrown into the wide ocean of college social dynamics without a life vest. So what does a quiet girl with the social skills of a cardboard box and the bravery of a chicken nugget do when confronted with such a hurricane of hormones, deadlines, peer pressure, and a free-form schedule? She dove headfirst into her studies and work and used it as a shield of course. Her free time has her dissappearing into the quietest corner of the computer lab or library, not to emerge until the next class time and generally trying to coast by under the radar.

This strategy met with mixed success. And so it was extreme apprehension and after extensive prodding by her parents and school advisors that she looked for a club to join. Band or drama? Hell no. One of the pop culture clubs? Way too many people in there. Foreign language club? She was not about to be used as a homework resource. It was only by a stoke of luck that she managed to come across the Unknown Club and their combination of relatively small population and an interesting, if vague, premise. After a while, she found that she fit in rather well in the club and even put together an online forum to use as a resource in their quest for mysterious happenings. And then, of course, (U)topia exploded onto the scene and started changing everything. Perhaps changing a bit too much. When the rumors of the games strange effects started to spread, the club decided to get involved and Azusa found herself painfully spending a good chunk of her computer upgrade savings fund on a rig to play (U)topia. Operation Investigate (U)topia, start.

Other: Getting Azusa flustered has a small chance of sending her flying off the handle, depending on the circumstances. You've been warned.

VampirateMace

Internet Overlord
Name: Lance Jönsson

Age: 20

Gender: Male

Sexuality: Straight
~ He's kind of a player, and definitely has commitment issues.

Major: Music (History & Theory)
~ He plays violin and is working on playing keyboard.

Alias/Codename: SilverStar_20

Class: White Mage
~ This class is known for white magic, that tends to focus on healing and defensive spells. If spells have a elemental component, it will usually be air or water.

Skills/Abilities:
~ Cure (white, water) - A simple healing spell that will cure minor injuries, restoring health to the target player.
~ Spirit Shield (white, light) - Conjures a shield around the target party, which will temporarily soften blows, and even deflect weak attacks entirely.
~ Gust (grey, wind) - A blast of wind emits from the end of his staff, blowing back enemies and doing a light amount of damage.

Weapon: Light Staff of Winds
~ This mystical staff's bonus is the power to strengthen one white magic or wind related spell an hour.
~ Used as a melee weapon it deals light to moderate bludgeoning damage.

Appearance:
qk5cWSg.png
X6oJa5o.png

Lance's appearance speaks of a fairly northern genetic origin. He has a paler, slightly flush, complexion and thick blonde hair, with a pretty classic cut. His narrow eyes are deep blue and lined with heavy lashes. He has a sort of heroic, rectangular face shape, with a well defined nose, and very obvious dimples. He doesn't have a lot of muscle tone, since he's lazy and keeps his weight down primarily by limiting his caloric intake.

Lance dresses somewhere at the cross roads of I threw this on, and I want to be a punk. A standard outfit will consist of a pair of stylized slacks or jeans, a t-shirt, combat boots, and a long jean jacket with more zippers and button then could actually be functional.

In (U)topia, Lance's avatar shares his skintone, though it's flatter, and the details are simpler. Still, it's more muscular then the real-life Lance. It also has long white blonde hair, pointed ears, and much larger eyes, giving it a very fantasy look. The ears are just aesthetic, as the game still treats his character as human.

The avatar wears a pair of teal, monk-like pants, and a flowing wispy cloak. This outfit is augmented with brass manacles, brass star barrettes, and teal flats for shoes.

Personality:
Lance can be a bit of a jerk, his social skills are kind of lacking, and often make inappropriate jokes or be too blunt. He wants to be seen as punk, but he's not really pulling it off that well; between the laziness in getting dressed, the momma's boy haircut (the sparkly blue eyes and dimples probably don't help him look tough either), the classical instrument, and his inconsistency on rebellious topics like swearing. Underneath this, he's not really a bad guy, he's really just kind of insecure and in the midst of an identity crisis, where he's trying to reinvent himself to get away from his past.

He can also be a bit of a womanizer, and will flirt with the ladies at inappropriate times, sometimes with gals that it's inappropriate for him to be flirting with. It's pretty clear he's more into quick flings, rather then looking for a meaningful relationship. He's never found himself interested in boys, and is conflicted about flirting with them when they initiate it, on one hand he's secure in his orientation and sometimes it's fun to flirt anyways, on the other if they take it too seriously, things are going to get awkward real fast.

Lance is kind of lazy in real life, this shows in his fashion sense, lack of muscle tone, and as tendency to take short cuts on non-music projects. It is however only a symptom of a bigger problem, he's lonely and insecure, and currently flailing around as he tries to figure out who he is and who he wants to be, which only feeds the negative cycle. He's got this punk musician that always gets the girl image in his head, but he's not sure he can achieve it.

He still occasionally has bad days, where all he wants to do is hide in a dark closet wrapped in a blanket and never talk to anyone again. But he knows now this is not productive.

History:
Lance's childhood started out fairly ordinary, middle child of a average family living in a small house on the outskirts of a big city. There wasn't a lot of pressure or attention thrown his was, his older brother was excelling in school earning praise and high expectations, while his younger sister was the baby, a position that demanded constant attention. Lance on the other hand, was just there in the middle, and was allowed to do his own thing most of the time. He didn't show interest in many things growing up. He played a lot of RPG video games, and took violin lessons, and often ate out of boredom.

By junior high, Lance was a pudgy kid the others made fun of, which did not help him to be anymore social. Becoming increasingly reclusive, and for lack of a better word, emo, his parents finally took notice of him. Deciding he needed help, his mother took him to get some counseling as well as a nutritionist's advice. Counseling does not always do wonders for one's self-esteem however, and though he appreciated his mother's effort, Lance's self-worth tanked just as he was starting high school. He continued wearing dark clothes and exhibiting reclusive behaviors, including hiding himself in an oversized black hoodie and letting his hair grow out (much to his mother's dismay, who'd proudly taken him to the same salon to get the same cut for years). He was now known as the weird loner kid on a weird diet, who happen to have a violin, but never played it in front of anyone. He lost weight however, fairly quickly when he finally tried, but it wasn't necessarily the healthiest weight-loss course, as he still didn't exercise that much.

It wasn't until the start of his senior year that Lance found someone who was actually able to encouraged him to stop shutting himself off. Her name was Lydia, and though she dressed kind of gothic, she was the life of the party. She took an interest in him, encouraged him to get out there, shed the hoodie, and cut his hair to show off the face, that in her words might belong to a model. She also encouraged him to play his violin for the school talent show, though he was very apprehensive about it, amazing his audience. That night Lance finally knew that he wanted to do with himself, he wanted to become a famous musician.

Entering college, specifically Lunarville University, Lance knew he would be around a whole new group of people, and finally this was his chance to escape his past. Here he could be the guy he'd wished he'd been in high school. He bought some new clothes, watched some videos on picking up chicks (because musicians are supposed to get the girls), and generally tried to distance himself from his deeply ingrained antisocial habits. In an effort to make more friends, he decided to join a club. Unsure of what he was looking for in a club, he decided the paranormal investigation club, because at least he knew something about it due to Lydia's fascination with the subject. After a couple meetings, Lance decided he found it pretty interesting too. He was absolutely thrilled when the idea of investigating a virtual reality game came up, and pretty much immediately reevaluated his budget as to buy the necessary equipment.

Other:
~ His favorite color is teal.
~ Lydia is at college elsewhere, but the two of them video chat occasionally.

Sketchie

literally some guy
may i take a reserve? i gotta think as to what character i want to use...

Name: Adam Veronica Turner
Age: 20
Gender: Transgender Male Female
Sexuality: Gay Straight
Major: Aviation, specifically fixing the airplanes

Big Note: While Veronica's chosen name is Adam, due to him her not being out, she will be referred to as Veronica with she/her pronouns. As Archaengel, he uses he/him freely. If in the RP Veronica does come out, then pronouns will shift.

Alias/Codename: Archaengel
Class: Druid
Skills/Abilities:
-- Wild Shift: Archaengel can shapeshift into all sorts of animals -- but because he's still a low level druid, he can't shapeshift into anything big or fancy yet. His favorite animal to shapeshift into is a falcon.
-- Fauna Talk: Archaengel can talk to the natural flora and fauna. It's fun, ya know.
-- Heightened Agility: Archaengel is fast and agile, making up for not as much strength. He can jump swiftly from tree to tree with ease, and dodging is his specialty.
Weapon:
-- Emerald Whip: Archaengel uses a long whip as a weapon, with a hilt adorned with gold and emeralds. As his fancy +1 ability, he can summon thorns onto his whip to make it more, uh, yaknow, Spikes.

YlGEszv.png

Appearance: Veronica is short. She's only about 5'1", if that, but she's quite curvy despite how little she is. She often complains her curves aren't built for her frame, and is sometimes a little embarrassed because she feels she isn't the right curvy, she's not thin curvy, she's sweet and soft and chubby curvy. Not fat, not thin, just in between. Her hands and feet are tiny as well, built as princess hands with thin, lithe fingers and feet that normally wear things from the children's section. She has a cute heart face, the kind they'd use in an anime, with soft brown hair resting gently on top, cut in a blunt bob with blunt bangs that often covers her eyes. Currently it has something of a dusty pink ombre to it, a dare from some of her friends. Veronica has big brown doe eyes, soft eyes, decorated in long, pretty lashes. She has a sweet button nose, and pretty pink lips, often drawn in a frown.

Veronica is almost always wearing a jacket of some kind. Her clothes are always baggy, he she hates the feeling of tight clothes. It makes him feel tight, like he can't breathe, like he's trapped. She tries her best to be coordinated, but as a mechanic her priorities are more aimed at comfort and protection than fashionable. She loooooves sweatpants, especially ones that are all bunched up at the ankle. She mostly wears t-shirts under her jacket, loose ones at that. She will never wear jewelry or dresses, if she absolutely has to wear nice things it's going to be her theatre tech wear (black button up shirt and slacks). She puts enough effort into her appearance to look nice and put together, but that's the extent of it.

Archaengel looks almost nothing like Veronica, because Archaengel is how Adam Veronica desprately wants to look. He's only a few inches taller, but his masculine looks make up for it. Streamlined jaw, cheekbones, and nose, complete with a happy and confident smirk on his face. The only thing that's stayed the same are his big brown eyes. Besides that, Archaengel's face is just a heavily masculinized version of Adam's Veronica's. His ears are a little pointed because he couldn't resist being an elf, because he is a nerd. His dark brown hair is very long, and tied in a thin braid. His chest is flat, his whole body streamlined and toned to be agile. He doesn't have visible abs but a smooth and flat stomach, something he absolutely adores (and loves to show off). On Archaengel's shoulder is a druidic tattoo, made with a leafy green ink in a stylized tree design.

Pretty much all of his clothes are green, because of being a hipster tree wizard. Archaengel loves to show off his body, so most of the time he's wearing a crop top if he's wearing any sort of shirt at all. He likes wearing old-style joggers, essentially, still lightly baggy but tighter than his normal clothes, and tight around his ankles. On his feet he just wears sandals, and his whip typically stays attached to his belt.

Personality: Sweet lil guy. Kinda shy and soft spoken. Philosophy, poetry, theatre. Very closeted.

History: (how you joined the unknown club is important, this should end with you buying a headset for the game… none of us have entered it yet)

Solsabre

The Reforged Soul
Done.

Name: Eugene William “Snot” Snodgrass
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Major: Sports Journalism

Alias/Codename: Bjorne Kjarr
Class: Forester - a class known for their greater physical strength, speed and mobility are decreased.

Skills/Abilities:
Call of the Wild: With a silent whistle, his animal familiar, a wolf-dog hybrid named Timber, can be summoned to fight alongside him in battle. Can be used once per hour in and out of battle.
Battlecry: Can release a terrifying bear-like roar to reduce his enemies speed. Those closest to the soundwaves are affected more than those farther away. Repeated uses in a short amount of time have little effect.
Boomerang Tomahawk: Bjorne can throw a smaller hatchet or tomahawk at a single enemy and will return to his hand.

Weapon: Double-bladed Axe
Dynamic Chop - Swinging the axe vertical or horizontal can send a surge of green energy in a wave to take out or deal massive damage to multiple enemies. Can be used only once during a fight.

Appearance: Eugene is very tall at 6 ft. 5in, but sitting in a wheelchair belies this fact. He has sandy-brown hair with blue eyes. His hair is shoulder length, though he usually wears it in a half or whole ponytail. Normally, his body would have a solid athletic build, but his legs have lost muscle mass from being paralyzed from the waist down. Intensive physical therapy helps him to maintain some muscle if minimal. His arms and upper body are still decently fit as he lifts weights regularly for upper body strength.

Clothing is a simple affair, since dressing in morning is a hassle. He’s usually just casual and practical in his choices. Dark shades of greens or blues are his regular color scheme. Otherwise, he’s a jeans and t-shirt kind of guy with a well worn leather jacket. It’s not unusual to see him in the computer lab or library with the hood up over his head from a jacket or hoodie sweater. He never wears shorts.

Avatar: As Bjorne, Eugene becomes is a giant and imposing man of unusual size and strength, standing at a height of 6 ft. 10 in. He has a very wild appearance with his fur/leather clothing. His hair is a mane of deep golden brown, long, curly, and unkempt spilling over his shoulders. His beard is kept short with a rough cut. Deep set eyes peer out with an unnatural brilliant blue and prominent irises.

All his clothing is made from the hides of forest animals. On his upper body, Bjorne wears a sleeveless open front leather vest, allowing his arms maximum movement for swinging his ax. The vest neckline and sleeve openings are lined with wolf hair. His legs are covered with leather breeches tanned from deer hides and moccasins on his feet to help muffle his footsteps in the forest. Also wears a grizzly bear cloak with the bear head as the hood. Carries a double bladed battle ax on his back. The thick leather and fur acts as a type of armor against physical attacks, most effective against animal bites, claws, or other more natural weapons.

Personality: Eugene is a serious and focused individual, holding himself to high standards. He aims to succeed in everything he does, however, that’s not to say he hasn’t faced failure before. Instead of letting the failure get to him, Eugene presses onward to try again and learn from his mistakes. He’s very mature and reliable and not after afraid to take on responsibility.

In high school, Eugene was popular, more outgoing and sociable, another ‘one of the guys’ on the high school Basketball team. However, after his ‘accident’, he became a bit more reserved and withdrawn. He would still keep in touch with his friends and will chat to catch up for a few minutes, but he simply didn’t have time to hangout anymore. Not when he had to rethink his entire life and learn new skills.

Eugene possess an insane work ethic. He was always a hard-worker, but entering college stepped it up a notch as he felt he needed to stay ahead to overcome any challenges he might face in the future. However, he can become so focused that he’ll forget the little things like eating and getting enough sleep. He will also miss important details or concerns of friends when they are talking to him. He can overwork himself to the point of possibly affecting his health. He does care about his friends and willing to help them out if he’s not too wrapped in his own work.

The former basketball player is incredible stubborn on one subject. His independence. It’s a touchy subject. He hates pity and he’s not afraid to call people out on it bluntly. That’s not to say he doesn’t appreciate small gestures like friends holding doors open or handing him items out of his reach. But he doesn’t like a big deal being made about it. He’s just like everyone else. If someone does, he’d prefer they just said it to his face and not beat around the brush about the matter.

Unable to play sports anymore, Eugene took a liking to figuring out puzzles with his intelligence and sharp mind. Inquisitive investigations of any nature aren't too far out of the court with his pursuit of a journalism in terms of researching and finding the right question to ask.

History: Raised in a Scottish family, Eugene grew up in a small mining community in Aspen, Colorado. Many of the locales worked at Aspen’s long running silver mine, including Eugene’s grandfather (retired), father, uncle, older brother, and younger brother. Eugene was the second oldest of five children with two sisters and two brothers.

As the 3rd generation in a miner family, Eugene broke tradition when he decided early on in high school to pursue a college degree relating to sports. (Though he’d probably do a rotation in the mines at some point.) Gene was very skilled in many sports, but basketball was where he shined the best. His height was a plus, but it was his dedication to his practice routine that carried him through. His nickname ‘Snot’ came from his teammates as a shorten version of his last name. College recruits and sports scholarships were already lined up for him by the end of his Junior year.

However, life took a different course at the beginning of Eugene’s senior year. Eugene and several of his teammates were at a party hosted by classmate whose parents were out of town. Of course, alcohol was a major factor and consumed by many of the players. Eugene, being slightly more sensible and responsible, volunteered to be the DD for his immediate friends. On their way home in the middle of the night, a severe thunderstorm passed through the countryside as they drove making visibility worse. At one point, a deer darts in front of the vehicle and causes Eugene to swerve the car, losing control on the wet road.

Most of the passengers walked away from the car crash with only minor injuries. However, Eugene had been paralyzed from the waist down. Also, even though, the former basketball player was clear of alcohol in his system, rumors ran through the school that he’d been driving while intoxicated. The good promising future for Eugene was swiftly gone in a single night since he couldn’t play basketball anymore.

With the support of his family and his own drive, Eugene kept up with his homework while he recovered. When he wasn’t buried in his studies, he was going through intensive physical therapy to keep his legs from atrophying completely. Life became ten times harder as the old family home wasn’t built for easy of access or movement of a wheelchair. But Eugene dealt with the hand given him and learned different life hacks to get around on his own as well as figuring out his future.

Eventually, Eugene applied and was accepted into a decent college at Lunarville for a degree in Sports Journalism. Reluctantly, Eugene allowed his parents to pay for his tuition, so he wouldn’t leave school with massive debt. His cost of living was going to higher as it was for any of his special needs. He did stubbornly insist on paying for his own food and housing by taking a part-time job with the school newspaper.

So, Eugene settled into a routine at college life with a small private apartment a block from campus. Joining him halfway through his freshman year was a one-year-old German Shepherd named Thor to act as a service dog, primarily for retrieval/carry tasks or helping to guide Eugene and his wheelchair in crowded situations. He didn’t hardly bother with the usual college social experiences, unless it was a job fair or an activity already happening when he passed by on his way to classes. He did discovered a National Wheelchair Basketball Association chapter and joined the group as a way of enjoying the sport again.

When his third year started, classes in the first semester intensified and became more time consuming. Between the class workload, his job, physical therapy, basketball, and taking care of Thor, Eugene suffered a minor nervous breakdown from sheer exhaustion and overworking himself. So on doctor’s orders, Eugene lighten his load by quitting the wheelchair basketball chapter for the time being and dropping a class or two. In the meantime, he spent more time caring for Thor with walks and finding quieter and less strenuous hobbies.

Things were improving and looking up, but Eugene was still restless with the extra time on his hands. Perhaps he needed a social outlet at last, so the former athletic looked up the different clubs available on campus and settled on a smaller club dedicated to investigating mysteries and the unknown. So he joined and built up a group of friends for the first time in years. A short while later, rumors concerning the online game of (U)topia abound in online forums and the newspapers. Intrigued, Eugene agreed with the rest of the club members to follow up on the rumors of surrounding the game. While the mystery of (U)topia was of great interest to him, Eugene was lured by another advantage the game offered. He would be able to walk and move normally again. Even with little gaming experience, Eugene didn’t hesitate to put money down for the headset. Now it was only a matter of time.

Other:
-He will respond to any nickname you give him: Gene, Will, Snodgrass, ‘Snot’, etc…(He did get called Jean often in his French college course.)
-His odd interest in norse mythology comes from the stories told by an eccentric great-uncle who married into the Snodgrass family after emigrating from Norway decades ago. His avatar’s appearance is loosely based on his great-uncle’s stature.

Nanomachines, Son!
(WIP for now)

Name: Alexander 'Alex' Wesker
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Major: Medicine

Alias/Codename: Tsukiyomi
Class: Arcane Trickster
Skills/Abilities:
-Elemental Magic: Can cast spells of varying elements (Fire, Water, Wind, Ice, ect.) to deal damage from long range.
-Illusions: Can conjure illusions to make enemies see, hear, smell, and feel things that aren't really there, as well as see through illusions conjured by others. He can also make things appear to not be there at all even though they still are.
-Conjure Throwing Knives: Can create throwing knives out of pure arcane energy for ranged damage.

Weapon: Dual Wielding Daggers
-Shadow Strike: Can quickly vanish and reappear directly behind enemies for a sneak attack.

Appearance: Alex stands at about five feet and nine inches, and normally weighs about 130 pounds. He has pale skin and short, messy black hair. He is heterochromic, with his right eye being blue and his left eye being green, though he can see perfectly fine out of both. He always gives an arrogant or uncaring laid back look unless he's genuinely worried or angry, which rarely happens. He's has a slim build, but is still perfectly fit.

For clothes, his casual wear is a black t-shirt with Japanese characters that read "Fuma" on the front, and black jeans. He also wears a black jacket with white fur on the edges, including the hood, which he only puts on when the weather becomes unbearably cold for him. He also wears black shoes with white socks. His only accessory is a locket around his neck which contains a photo of him and his younger sister, which he only allows a very select few to see. On his person he typically carries around a deck of cards and a switchblade, while he's skillful with the switchblade he only uses it in self defense.

When logged on to (U)topia, Alex takes on an appearance heavily inspired by the Kyubi-no-Kitsune, or Nine-Tailed Foxes, of Japanese mythology. His avatar's hair is white, with white furred fox ears instead of normal human ones, and he has nine pure white fox tails. He retains his pale skin and laid back facial expression, but his eyes are red and he stands at six feet in height. He wears a white hooded haori over a black shirt and a brown leather chest plate, a white sash, a gray hakama, and white socks with wooden sandals. He keeps a pair of daggers strapped to his arms, sheathed and hidden inside the large sleeves of his haori.

Personality: Alex is a wildcard individual. He mostly keeps to himself and almost never discloses what's on his mind until he feels the time is right or is asked by someone he likes, so it's difficult to tell what he'll say or do next. He's clever in his words and mannerisms and tends to be a smooth talker. He gives off the sense that he's always hiding something, despite being honest, albeit blunt, about his thoughts nearly all the time.

When talking to others, depending on who he interacts with Alex opts to sound calculating and sophisticated at some times, and straight up insulting in others. He let's others know whether he respects or dislikes them and acts very differently towards either side. Around people he respects he simply expresses his respect for that person and gives advice to them when asked. Towards people he doesn't like he notes his disdain towards them with condescending remarks. However, he keeps said remarks at bay while in serious scenarios to avoid needless bickering with his allies.

Alex tends to be laid back in most situations. Even during times where he's in danger he takes it with a smile and even a laugh when he's either unimpressed or things start going his way. Though he's intelligent he gets bored very easily. If you try to tell him something he's not interested in or something he already knows, he'll quickly fall asleep. If he hears something that peaks his interest, he'll listen intently.

The only person Alex openly cares about is his little sister, Alice. When she's around Alex acts like a different person entirely, being a considerate, protective and caring brother. It's only during situations that pertain to Alice is when Alex truly shows any kind of emotion. This is because deep down this is the kind of person Alex really is, he just doesn't know how to act this way towards others so he puts on a wildcard persona as a front. In reality, he hopes to be more open towards others someday.

History: Alex was born in Lunarville to a loving mother and father. Growing up playing various sports with his father and being tutored by his mother, who worked as a Teacher, to stay ahead in school with hopes of pursuing a higher education, and when he was nine he ended up having a sister, Alice. However, it was shortly after Alice was born that Alex's life took a turn for the worst, as during a Soccer, or Football, game, the ball went out into the street, prompting the young Alex to walk out and get it, only to notice a car moving towards him freezing in fear like a deer in the head lights, forcing his father to push him out of the way, getting run over himself in the process.

Alex wasn't really the same after losing his father. While he still excelled in school and at Soccer, it was clear that his father's death haunted him, even giving him a phobia of seeing large things coming straight at him as he would relive seeing the car nearly run him over anytime such an event occurred. To make matters worse, Alex's mother became increasingly busy in her effort to support both Alex and Alice by herself. The only person Alex ever had regular interactions with was his sister. As he grew up Alex slowly became more reserved towards others until he began to act like a different person entirely to hide his insecurities.

As she grew up it was clear that Alice suffered from a incurable disease that caused her to have coughing fits periodically, forcing her to be limited on the activities she could take part in, as anything physically taxing would trigger her illness. Wanting her to be able to live a free, normal, and healthy life, Alex resolved to become a doctor in hopes of finding a cure for his sister's disease. Even with his studies, he did manage to make time for Alice, playing video games with her, watching TV with her, and even tutoring her like his mother did for him before. However, as he became busier and busier with his own studies Alex noticed his sister starting to chat with others online via (U)topia. While she was smart enough to stay away from the game's grittier aspects, the idea of Alice getting involved with strangers online, even if it was just to pass the time while he was busy, worried her older brother.

These concerns came to a head when he heard reports of people acting as if they were still in (U)topia in real life. While Alice didn't engage in the more dangerous parts of the game, the possibility of what she could go through if allowed to play much longer worried Alex, prompting him to want to investigate the game himself. Finding out about a group also interested in the game in his new college, Alex approached them wanting to join and went on to buy the necessary equipment with them.

Other:
-Theme Song
-Noting that there is someone else in the club named Alexander, Alex is content with simply being called Wesker, or even just by his username, Tsukiyomi.
-He's an avid piano player. His favorite song to play is Chopin's Revolutionary Etude.
-He knows a fair amount of martial arts, parkour, and was a High School Football Ace (or Soccer Ace if you prefer).
-He has a certain fascination with Japanese culture that he heavily incorporated into his avatar.
