UK Naruto Dub/UK Anime Situ

Now since I have the power to do so I will offically warn now. Do NOT turn this into a flamewar or mindless *****ing please, keep it remotely constructive despite how tempting it is.

Now Naruto debuted on Jetix on Saturday as you may or may not have heard at 8pm instead of 5pm like they said. Admittedly myself I have only seen yesterdays so far.

For those in the US, the reason it says UK is ours has been cut FURTHER than yours, heck some of the VAs are different :/

So whats been the verdict then? For me it's been pretty ick. The amount of stills and random naruto teleporting e.g. Naruto was not seen getting jabbed by Kakashi, he just appeared drowning bout 2 minutes afterwards is an out right insult :/ If you're gonna slash something to pieces at least make it so you can't really tell.

Of course our biggest problem is if we don't watch it, the chans will think the UK has no interest in anime and tear it all up and be done with it. We've already lost the old Toonami which was hour upon hour of good stuff. Tearing myself between Gundam/Tenchi/Early DZ ooo.


Feel free to post your views on either subject, due to the lack of UK people that I have regular contact having an interest I would like to know what you guys think :)

... wait, what? there's no way they have changed the VAs, Flare. From what I have heard they're all the originals. o_o

Well, it is nice that the anime is airing on UK television, on the other hand, its airing when hardly any kids would watch it, so many edits, no weapons are shown being used, at all. The edits make One Piece dub look amazing, but yeah, it's all good, we still have the uncut DVDs coming out, not all is lost.

Yeah. I mean, atleast the dub of One Piece shows people shooting guns (albeit green and sometimes super soaker-like) and swinging swords.

Some sound so much more whiney than the few dub episodes I watched before cringing my way back to the subbed Japanese :S I will admit during the Zabuza arc, if Haku turns into a girl I will scream, seriously.

At least One Piece you can't really tell whats been cut (There is only a few plot holes) if you haven't watched the subs like I'm only just starting to. Naruto however... It's a channel for cartoons really, young kiddie ones that have been slipping even more than Toonami if that's possible :/ 8pm is really bad from it also being peak soap time. Somehow I doubt precious soaps will be missed for anime.

I'm being a sneaky git and entering a digital art comp to try and win said DVD :D Be a lot cheaper, fun and the parent is starting to get interested in certain animes so if I can get her onto dubs...

I plot therefore I am.

Ya know I find it funny how they edit like this after I personally talked to the Jetix guy at the London Expo. He stated it would be "uncut", yeah right...

Well, its not amazingly badly edited still. But it does make me bored whilst watching it a bit. Hopefully the DVDs will sell well though.

Well, I was watching it and I found it really obvious where there were edits. It was really annoying, I think it was the second episode, where the Hokagei was talking and he was not moving...at all. Also, in the first episode, there were 2 zoomins that I could see.

I liked Naruto, and the obvious edits are annoying me. I mean, he is right with One Piece where they cover most of their tracks OK, and at least they make their edits not so obvious. For someone who didn't know that the gins weren't suppost to eb green, I personally think that they did a pretty good job of it. But that it just my opinion.

I also have to agree with you about the timing. I mean, I canot watch it at that time because the TV is taken. I just hope that the DVd sales prove that it is a popular show.

the 1st episode cut out everything that had Iruka with the shuriken in his back, and it cut out Naruto saying he'd kill Mizuki, among other things

I haven't seen it yet but I've been told it was horrifically cut to the point that nearly ever weapon that was throw was edited out and they removed every trace of the words 'kill' and 'death'. I was at the London Expo in May and we got a free DVD with the first episode on, I saw that and it didn't look too different from the American one (which was bad enough!).

Of course we want more Anime in the UK, but not like this. I would rather have no anime on TV than have every show I know and love cut and edited to this level of lameness and have the world think that this is the sort of thing we enjoy watching. I know the whole country wont stop watching one of this years most anticipated shows on my say so, but if people stopped encouraging the mindless butchering of anime on channels like Jetix and pushed their praise onto channels which don't horrifically murder shows then they might get the idea.

Regarding One Piece we only hitto Number 2 posing as the King and the King missing before it reset. Both me and the parent were watching and it was really the sickenss one that was so blatant, the rest you don't know unless you're looking for it. Do note I'm speaking from the perspective of somebody who hss NOT SEEN THE SUBS PRIOR but the DUB first.

The US has got off better from this deal so it's not good. A newcomer who has absolutely no idea about naruto will see thouh these edits. We had the random teleports in today's episode again putting an appearence, The Kakashi replacement didn;t even touch the ground it's just BAM! Oh a log o.o It seems to be seeking more to confuse the heck out of people than anything else and those Jetix profiles *shudder*

I swear, I am slowly being driven insane by the BELIEVE IT every two minutes...

To be honest if no one watches it and there are still a ton of cosplayers at the London Expo they'll probably wonder why. If Jetix are their next time I'll be sure to have a go at them for lying to me.

Well there is almost every week a preview of the dubbed naruto and it really sux for example how they call naruto and sasuke's name it's terrible and they should have teached english to the orochimarus voice actor?

I think you need to be taught proper english before anybody else.

Never noticed it. And don't you start, they have a perfectly valid point.

I do find it laughable (More so after today's mess) that the dubon the DVD is the US one, for good reason!

oMg maybe u should learn better english read it very carefully I SAID IT BECAUSE The voice actor of orochimaru has a creepy and a cool voice so if they had used him in naruto dub it would have been great and no offense but I think my english is good thank u very much...(or should I say you) geeeezzZ....
