Umbreon in Castlevania: DoS

I recently bought Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrows and I noticed that when you kill a witch an animal looking similer to Umbreon runs across the screen. Is it supposed to be Umbreon (Like, A Pokemon Nod) or just the thing it's based on? It has the same coloring and all the yellow/gold in the same places too.

An interesting thought, but sadly completely wrong. If you look closely, it's a large black cat with a witch hat on its head and ridden by the small black cat that sits on the front of the broom before you kill her.
