Unable to access network

I have a Gateway E-1400 with a 810 mhz Pentium 3 running XP Pro. I cannot access the network with the integrated network card, and I've tried installing PCI network cards, but they don't work either. The network card is not disabled. Any suggestions?

Would you mind telling us what sort of network you're attempting to access, what sort of broadband you have, anything like that?

I'd be assuming he's on some sort of LAN.

Though it would be a little out of character for Windows XP, do you have the right drivers for your card?

I'm on a wired LAN. I'm using the default XP driver, and I don't think that's the problem. Network cards usually work with generic drivers.

Windows XP doesn't come with default drivers for network adapters as far as I know.
It does at C:\\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\el90xbc5.sys. The card worked fine under Windows 2000.
