Uncharted(PS3) franchise discussion

Discuss your thoughts on Uncharted here!!

Do you like the franchise, like so many critics do? Or are you one of those people who hates TPSs, Tomb Raider fanatics who'll never accept Uncharted, or just an Uncharted hater for some stupid reason? Why do some people like the Uncharted franchise, and why do you haters hate it?

To me, I absolutely love Uncharted! Next to Pokémon, it is my second favorite franchise ever. The graphics are great, the gameplay is simple but exciting, the story is that any action/adventure movie lover would love to watch, the characters are realistic, and the various settings make the game stand out from other shooters out there in the market and also makes it a treat for the eyes. Also, Uncharted 3 got a rare 10/10 from IGN! I know that reviews don't matter, but seeing a perfect score from IGN makes me believe that U3 will exceed U2's expectations, a game that has set a really high bar for gaming.

So, that's my opinions on the Uncharted franchise. Now, share yours!

I wouldn't get to happy that IGN gave the game 10/10 because everyone knows that IGN are not a good reviewers and tend to be very bias.

As for Uncharted itself it nothing but an over rated Tomb Raider game that thinks that it is an Indiana Jones movie and has a very shallow game play. However having said that I am planing to pick the game up when I get a PS3 but not full price.

I would rather you not buy the game for saying such things. >:|

Besides nearly all other gaming magazines gave the game a 9.5 or 9 which is perfect anyways. Its hard to surpass the GOTY masterpiece that was Uncharted 2. You haven't even played the game yet so save it.

*Fanboy rant over

Stop hating on ign, their not bias and have good reviews. Uncharted 3 is getting extremely high ratings throughout all video game websites. If ign gave Uncharted 3 a 6.5 and the reviewer hated the series, then I'd say Greg Miller was being bias.

Actually I have played the game at my cousin house and again when he let me borrow his PS3.

yeah right IGN reviews sucks as they never fully explain what they are trying say and contradicted themselves.

1. Calling it a Tomb Raider knock off with shallow gameplay just pissed me off and I gave a fanboy reply. :p

2. You haven't played the single player yet.

3. A lot of game reviewers do that yet readers simply have to accept it. IGN is hardly the best game reviewer but its not the worst either.

Saying bias doesn't come into a review is not true 90% of the time.

Getting a kid to review Toy Story 3, he/she would give it a 10 while an adult would rate it a tad lower.

Anyways Uncharted 3's multiplayer has been a blast so far thanks to Subways. I'm level 16 and will be 20 before I even get the game. :D

Did you read the Uncharted 3 review? It was by no means a bad review. http://ps3.ign.com/articles/121/1210241p1.html

No game review is perfect, as it all revolves around person. Thats why I like metacritic, you get a bunch of reviewers perspective at once.

I myself think that IGN is biased, but they are not generous when giving out 10s. They rarely give out 10s. From 2008 to now, only 4 games were given perfect scores. GTA4 and MGS4 in 2008, Super Mario Galaxy 2 last year, and most recently on October 24th of this year, Uncharted 3. Sure, RDR: UN, Halo:Reach, Pacman, and Chronology Trigger, were given perfect scores too, but RDR:UN was DLC, Reach got a perfect from IGN UK but not from IGN US, and Pacman and Chrono Trigger Wii were downloadable games. Before GTAIV, almost a decade worth of games have come and past by without getting a perfect score from IGN. Go check it out on Wikipedia. Sure, it may not be the most reliable information site (and IGN is also not 100% reliable), but it gets the job done and I'm pretty sure it's at least 95% legit information.

Also, say what you want about Uncharted 3, but I love the series because, like so many people have said, Nathan Drake is almost like what Lara Croft's and Indy's son would be like if those two characters ever met and fell in love... Or the modern Indy, as some would rather prefer. Another thing, I wouldn't think of it as an overrated Tomb Raider. Naughty Dog has been doing 3rd-person action/adventure platformers since the day Crash Bandicoot was released over a decade ago on the original Playstation. I would say that because Naughty Dog has been working with 3PA/AP for a long, long time, with Crash and Jax & Daxter, they've already gotten alot of experience and perfected it with the Uncharted series. In fact, an interview from an ND employee said that some of Uncharted's gameplay mechanics can be traced back from CB, like switching the POV to the back of your character when something is chasing you or something falling down, etc.

Started playing the first one, but it never really grabbed my attention. I might go through and play them all once my Dad gets 3.

Yeah, you should have started with Uncharted 2, as it's the one that made the Uncharted series popular. Uncharted 1 is not a bad game by any stretch, but it's U2 that really grabbed the critics' attention and named it one of the best series this generation. However, I think U2 spoiled reviewers. Some reviewers are now giving U3 lower scores because it's being compared with U2. IMO, I don't think that's fair. Uncharted 2 was already near-perfect in many critic's eyes, so they should have known that it will be very difficult to top it. Then, some reviewers compared everything about it with U2. Of course, this might mean that U3 got lower scores because it didn't change much from U2, but the comparisons are crazy. No other game got this kind of treatment. I don't know, man. Reviewers are crazy and confusing.

Uncharted is pretty awesome, and Uncharted 3 looks amazing. Golden Abyss for the Vita looks great too! I see similarities, but I wouldn't call it a ''Tomb Raider'' rip off, and I see Uncharted being much better. (Oh and I love the soundtrack!!!)

Game of the Year!!

I realyt hope Uncharted 3 gets Game of the Year! It is amazing, and by far, the best Uncharted game!!! Amazing game in an awesome franchise, deserving of the title.

Chronology Trigger

WAT.

Ahem, ANYWAYS, I think the reason why 3 got compared to 2 some much was simply because of how similar the games are. Among Thieves made a big splash because of all the new exciting things to the table, while Drake's Deception, as much as I enjoyed it, didn't really do much that was different. Sure, there are the minor tweaks here and there but nothing close to the "WOW" factor of what Among Thieves had. Comparing a game to it's predecessor is not "unfair" or "crazy and confusing." It makes sense. That's the LOGICAL step to take.

I'd like to say one more thing: The desert part was cool until the voice over.
