uncut pokemon?

What's so different when it's uncut. Is there any violence, or is it the same all ages appropriate thing as in the US?

Violence wise it's the same except for an occasional impact star. The dub (aside from the music) is 90% identical to the original for most episodes.

Japanese swear words are hard to translate, though. "Kuso" can be as hard as "sh!t" or as loose as "dang!"

I think the only violence in it is showing the direct hits that the dub replaces with impact stars. And even then it's not always.

While that may be so, generally in Pokemon's case, it's all losely since they're not really saying such words with deep impact. You can literally tell what they were going for should a character say "kuso."

You are right, though how the violence is toned down. It's not even bad violence, more among the lines of cartoony violence. Heck, simple violence we saw years ago in the dub is being cut out or replaced with impact stars.

Unfortunately its still very kiddy. I was hoping for a more adult original, but turns out the dub doesn't do a One Piece and change the whole show

I don't think Pokemon has characters getting disembowled and all the pieces merging back together (the closest would probably be Deoxy's regenerating in the 2nd AG movie, which wasn't exactly slapstick, and the movies seem to show more than the series, anyway).

Stars - I only ever see those "Stars" when Cacnea hugs James. I usually don't see that very often at all.

I do wish we could have Pokémon uncut but its unlikely that will ever happen.
If Pokémon USA isn't listening to us about the voices then I really doubt they would listen to our business ideas (since we don't hold stock in the company)

The main changes that I know of are the following:

-sign painting (either removing both the English and Japanese, or occasionally translating Japanese)
-cultural references (the stereotypical rice ball)
-music (removes almost all of the original and replaces with new stuff)
-minor violence (guns are removed, either painted out or the scenes cut; physical strikes are replaced by impact stars)
-some sexuality (painting in swimsuit straps, lengthening Musashi/Jessie's skirt, REMOVING KOJIROU'S AWESOME CROSSDRESS COUGHCOUGH)
-cussing (but again, this is relative)
-inserting (and repeating) LOOOOOOOOTS of bad puns (Team Rocket's perpetual "that's SHOCKING" that has become as common as their motto? Yeah, NOT in the original)

Something people generally don't realize is also that, as in most 4Kids-cut anime, in the Pokemon dub, characters are not allowed to say "die" or "kill" or refer to God. Instead, stuff like "destroy" and "perish" as euphemisms... Also Mewtwo's inner conflicts about his creation and God in movie 1, for example, were removed... which totally changed the beautiful tone and story IMHO.

Also, movies are put in fullscreen rather than widescreen, so about a third of the image is cut off (a great example is in the Jirachi (?) movie, in which Gonbe/Munchlax is scratching of ticks and Haruka/May and Masato/Max are like "ewwww," but you can't see it because Gonbe is cut off in the dub.)

Once again, there's no cursing in Pokemon. "Kuso" can mean several things. Crap, sh*t, darn, damn, shoot, etc.

As for the whole "God" thing, I found it odd that out of nowhere, the Fishing King can refer to himself as the "Fishing God" in the dub. Way to show consistancy there, 4Kids.

Well at least they relised (in part) that the orginal fans of the show had grown up and wanted Ash to have a more "kick butt" team and less fillers.

I thought the only reason they cut Pokemon was for timing purposes (i.e. to make room for more pointless adverts)

There haven't been "guns" in Pokemon since the Safari Zone episode.

They even left in Rico's machine gun in the episode where Arbok/Weezing were released.

Well, I don't think the series need to be released uncut in english. Just release the original japanese version with subtitles.
