Unofficail Breaking a Tradition Thread

Luke the Almighty

Kickin' Gastly
Hey, ya know how some people keep saying they find traditions that were broken? Well, since people keep making one thread for each traditions that were broken, I decided to stop that and make one big thread. So post what you think about people's tradition's, or post your own broken tradition.

I've got one: Shinou. The name of the reigon. See, up until now, all the reigon's names had 3 consinants, and 2 vowels, adding up to 5 letters. This reigon's name has 3 consinants and 3 vowels. The vowels in bold: Johto. Kanto. Hoenn. Shinou.

See the difference? I know it's an extremely tiny tradition, but it's still broken, isn't it?

But Isn't Shinou The Japonese name?I though it was....

I have no idea if there are differences between Japanese/English names for the reigons. Are there? Anyway, it's a broken tradition.

you cant call that a broken tradition since if you translate the names into japanese hirgana /katakana your theory doesnt hold!

The last time I heard Shinou was the Japanese name, not English name. Point failed.

IIRC, the Japanese spellings of Johto and Hoenn with our alphabet have 3 vowels each (not entirely sure though), and I barely think they're making the number of vowels into a "tradition".

Sadly they're not breaking the tradition of adding pointless baby Pokemon, which were good in GSC but are now just boring.

We don't have enough information yet to say what traditions they may be breaking, and most traditions are likely to stay and I can't imagine them going.

Kuratosu, those regions are called Jouto and Houen in Japanese.

And Laprashunter, how do you know they're spending all this time developing? Just because they announced so early as to be pre-emptive doesn't mean that that has been their priority ever since then.

As for some tradition I feel will be broken, I'm going to suggest that the 50-TM limit will be the most readily-shattered one. This is the first time we'll have access to hold items in a trans-generational trade feature, meaning that these Pokemon will be able to carry TMs over those wires or through the air. How will new TMs be created, though? will we be able to trade TMs with this in mind? I strongly suspect Gamefreak will brew up something ingenious here.

Agreed. Not only is it easily broken, but it must be. G/C/S didn't face this problem since old TMs couldn't be held by Pokemon in R/B/Y. I think we could expect to see a set of 100 TMs this time around.

Another tradition I'd personally like to see be broken is the eight gym tradition. G/S/C broke it by including 16 badges, however there were still only eight in the main region.

Ok, let me rephase that. D/P is taking wayyy longer to be released than G/S and R/S. It's all because of those unnecessary games.

Dude, calm down. I know those games weren't developed by Gamefreak but it's still ridiculous how long it's taking them to release D/P since they were announce like 1000 years ago! Meh, I'm just glad it's finally being released soon. Oh yea, you're wrong about game developers having a life because they actually DON'T have one. :)

LMAO! Savour the other games? Are you serious? That's the funniest thing I heard in a long time!

The Pokemon RPGs are the only games that matter. All those filler games are garbage with maybe Pokemon Snap and Pinball R/S as exceptions. I actually enjoyed those.

You wanna know what I just thought of? Each vowel has been used exactly once in each of the names (apart from 'o' which appears in each name at least once.) I wonder if this could be the last hand-held game. [SPOIL]Just kidding.[/SPOIL]

Actually, this could be ACWW all over again. There are only realesing new/different information, therefore there are so many typical ideas that we are expected to know and remain in the game. Examples would be starters. They are most likely going to be F/W/G, and Nintendo assumes we know that, thus will not disclose that information since they think it is not needed.

I had wished the 'Start in a little house in a little house' tradition had been broken. But, going by the screenshots, that does not appear to be the case.

C'mon Gamefreak, knock me off my feet!

That would be awesome, also, it would be great if you like started in a town (or city) that had a decent gym, and you actually had a reason to return, besides getting a newe pokedex.

What I meant by other games, was the other RPG's, I beat Gold and Ruby while waiting for Fire Red, never realized what i left behind in Gold.
