And the videos deemed kid friendly is growing more confusing. I’ve found a lyric video for the Mike+the Mechanics song Silent Running (On Dangerous Ground) and wanted to save it but I couldn’t because it was “content made for kids.” A song about war and conflict with some religion content and a line that says, “There’s a gun and ammunition just inside the doorway” is kid friendly? Isn’t that the type of stuff COPPA was trying to keep kids from hearing? And it’s not like the video was uploaded ten years ago and the uploaded didn’t bother to turn off the COPPA setting and tell YouTube it wasn’t created for children. This was uploaded March 10 of this year! I also saw another South Park episode clip deemed as being kid friendly content and even Happy Tree Friends! And don get me started on the videos I’ve found on how to make Barbie clothes and furniture using sharp objects, hot glue guns, lighters to prevent some types of fabric from fraying, and sewing needles and pins.

On a quest to be the best...
COPPA doesn't care about what kids hear; it cares about their privacy. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act.

There was another law, made about the save time as COPPA, late 90's/early 2000's, which was supposed to keep kids away from porn, but the Supreme Court declared it unconstitutional. Here's an article on it, the similarly-named Children's Online Protection Act (Note the absence of the word Privacy.): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child_Online_Protection_Act

Chances are, the video was marked by mistake, or it had some cartoon images, or the uploader marked it as a precaution.

Science fiction continues to be a popular genre with lots of different options to choose from. But sadly I haven't been able to enjoy anything science fiction related since 2018. Mainly due to the fact all these fictional series set in the far future or another galaxy keep telling stories that are allegories for real world events, politics, and agendas. Said stories usually evoking modern day conflicts like racism, xenophobia, terrorism, femenissim, etc.

I want the entertainment I consume to be a form of escapism from the real world. Not show the same thing but in SPAAAACCCEE!

I think that if Disney keeps insisting on making live action remakes of their animated movies, then why can’t they remake some of the older entries that either have problematic plots/writing or need more love and attention? Why not make a new Black Cauldron with CGI magic given how huge the fantasy fiction adaptation has been the past 20 years or Peter Pan where Peter doesn’t act like a total unlikable sociopathic brat and remove the Native American scene and replace it with something like Captain Hook’s origins and how Peter ended up in Neverland?

THAT'S SCIENTIFICALLY IMPOSSIBLE!!!
How so?

Do you know it would be not sale well (Peter Pan)? And Company isn't doing so well lately.

Hey it can’t be any worse than the train wrecks known as Mulan and The Lion King. The changes for a live action Peter Pan remake I want are stop making Peter so unlikable and acting like a sociopath by making him ask Tinkerbell to sprinkle the Darling kids with pixie dust instead of violently grabbing her and shaking her harder than a person trying to get the last bit of ketchup stuck inside the bottle, stop having Peter acting like a bully to Hook to the point you actually want to see Peter get killed, take out the entire Native American scene and imagery which wouldn’t hurt the movie one bit, and explain how Peter Pan and Captain Hook ended up in Neverland. Peter Pan in the animated movie is just so unlikable because he keeps being portrayed as this perfect hero that is always right despite him doing some pretty horrible things. At least make him more identifiable with the audience by giving him more emotions and maybe a slight scolding from Wendy when he does something wrong to signify that she is still growing up and she can’t escape from it no matter where she goes or what she does and she is becoming a better person by using lessons taught to her by adults.

The scene where Wendy discovers that growing up is a part of life and everything that she had been taught so far has been helping her mature I think would go something like this.

Wendy: You want me to be the mother of these boys?! I can’t do that! I’m still a child! I need to grow up first if I am going to be a mother! And I can’t do that (Coming up with a realization) if I stay here in Neverland where I can never grow up. Huh. Maybe the idea of growing up isn’t all fun and games and it can be scary but maybe I’ll be all right since everything my parents and teaches have taught me are really the things I need to know are helping me become a better person. Growing up is a natural part of life and I may be afraid of growing up a little bit but sometimes you need to face your fears if you want to be happy.

The lesson would fit in nicely without feeling forced and could tell kids that yeah growing up maybe unappealing and not very fun and you cannot escape from it but when it seems like your parents and other adults are being unfair and mean, just remember that they love you and are acting like that to help you become a better person in life.

I’ve never really liked it when people change lyrics to a song to suit their own needs except when it comes to parodies but even then the parody has to make sense that the song’s melody fits the words. I’m sort of a music purist in that sense. The 80s Alvin and the Chipmunks really drove me over the edge a few times because the writers of the show decided to change words to a few songs that they sang and the song didn’t need to be changed and the new ones don’t even fit with the episode’s theme or even what the song was about. The Chipette’s version of New Attitude is the best example of how perfectly innocent words were changed and made the song lose its original meaning.

Chipettes’ version:

I’m wearing a new dress a new hat
Brand new ideas
As a matter of fact
I'm changed for good.

It must have been a cool night
New moon
Slight change on that particular night
It makes me feel like I should.

Now Patti’s version:
I’m wearing a new dress, new hat
Brand new ideas
As a matter of fact
I’ve changed for good

Must have been the cool night, new moon, new slight change
More than the figure but I feel like I should!

Now I can forgive the Chipettes for singing “I’m changed for good” because that can be an easy mistake to make but the rest of the changes ruins the meaning of New Attitude’s lyrics. It’s an empowering song about a woman that suddenly changes her life and for the better and how great it feels to see life through a different point of view. She is changing her mindset, her wardrobe, and even her hair which a lot of women in the 80s didn’t do that much if they were the same age as Patti. The Chipettes’ version sounds a bit too inappropriate even by 80s tv standards in which cartoons could get away with a lot more than they can today and remember that these girls are supposed to be about 10. The Chipettes sound like they’re singing about sex when they sing “It makes me feel like I should” which is just wrong. They actually did sing a song about sex in the Great Chipmunk Adventure to some snakes so thinking that the changes to New Attitude to be about them singing about sex isn’t that far off. This is why Barney annoyed me as a kid. His theme changed the words to Yankee Doodle and I hated the show for doing that and I also thought a lot of the songs they sang were boring and visually dull when compared to Sesame Street.

This year I've gotten into certain anime and manga. One thing I've noticed while browsing various forums and Reddit is how people are so obsessed with side/minor characters who only appear in one or a couple chapters. They hold these characters in such high regards they treat them as importantly as the main characters.

Whenever I see a post titled "what about side character (insert name here)!" I think why do you care so much? They're a SIDE character and will likely never get the closure you want.

Honestly the only side/minor characters that I wouldn’t Mind seeing again are Casey but only to see Beedrill in a battle since it got shafted by the writers twice with Ash immediately giving it to Casey and us never seeing it again or even how strong it is in battle and Todd/Snap because being a photographer of Pokémon is a rather interesting career and he could give Ash the idea of visiting the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra after he sees pictures of Mustard and his Urshifu and the Galarian Birds together.

I'm mainly referring to other series not related to Pokemon.

I found the later episodes of season 1 to be pretty good and im currently watching what would be considered season 2/Sailor Moon R.
I prefer the 90s anime over Crystal though because of the world building and character interactions in the fillers.

I've never seen it but I heard good things about it. But I would never try to get into it even if I had time because I know that the series is infamous for going on long breaks.

I heard it's because the creator is sick but this has apparently been a problem for almost a decade so I never got why he won't just end the manga? :[
Ha, I'm in the exact same boat. Hypothetically I would love to check it out, but if it really is as good as all that, why would I want to get into it when I know I'm going to hit a wall in the middle of the story? It's nicknamed Hiatus x Hiatus for a reason. I've also heard the exact same stuff about Berserk. It would be like intentionally watching Firefly.
Steins gate is a boring anime. Everyone keeps telling you have to watch till beyond episode 12, but it was still the most boring thing ever after that.
I haven't watched the anime, but I've read the VN and also don't understand why people heap praise on it. People also like to say that it's "time travel done right", but the fabric of the universe literally centers on the main characters. There's nothing good about its writing at all, imo. Average at best.
