Unpopular Pokemon opinions V2 (READ FIRST POST)

Yveltal91057

It’s Kalos season!
Overall, shiny locks add nothing to the game. I just want to be able to shiny hunt certain legendaries.

(Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, Galarian Moltres, Keldeo, Cosmog, Cosmoem, Kubfu, Urshifu, Zacian/Zamazenta, Eternatus, Calyrex, Glastrier/Spectrier).

It also sucks that both the Red Orb and Blue Orb, none of the Mega Stones, Double Battles, Z-Crystals, Triple Battles, Rotation Battles, Horde Battles, S.O.S Battles, Sky Battles, Inverse Battles and Battle Frontier aren’t in Generation 8 which revolves all around battling.

This is less of an opinion and more of a prediction, but I'm sure it will be unpopular nonetheless: I think Pokémon Legends: Arceus is going to outsell Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl.

This reminds me of how people claimed that Sword and Shield would sell worth due to its shortcomings... only to end up being the 3rd best selling generation ^^ The same can be said for Let's Go, which sold a lot.

People wanted a Gen 4 remake for years, so I doubt that people will backpedal on them :p

I never said people wouldn't buy BDSP. I just said Legends will outsell it.

I'm sure BDSP will sell 15-16 million copies, maybe even outsell the originals at some point. Legends will sit at 12-14 millions in a couple of years. The Switch game sales in generell are just ridiciliously high.

The recent several mini-anime series of 5 minute episodes like generations, twilight wings, etc are overrated and a waste of time because theyre way too short and the plots aren't much better than the main anime.

I want the main anime to be cancelled and replaced by a new anime that gives out 20-25 full 20+ minute long episodes every year, which is either about the Adventures/Special manga or a complete copy/paste of the games and their plots. No Ash and Pikachu, no Team Rocket trio, and absolutely no fillers/pesudo fillers.

I feel like that’s a very low estimate for Legends. I wouldn’t be surprised if that range is actually considered a failure by Nintendo and TPC given the sales of Sword and Shield; it’s lower than a lot of main series titles, including LGPE.

I honestly expect Legends to challenge SwSh, or even exceed them if it’s good enough.

I strongly agree with this. I’m sure BDSP will sell fine - and I even plan to buy and play one of them! - but Legends, if sufficient in quality, has the potential to completely knock sales out of the park. It’s the ambitious change to the formula that people have wanted for years; it’s directly and clearly inspired by BOTW, which sold bucketloads and became a cultural phenomenon throughout gaming; and it’s coming off the heels of the biggest Pokémon games since Gen 2 (even if I think they aren’t good, SwSh are undeniably massive). The timing is right for lightning to strike and for Legends to catch fire. I think it would be a mistake for anyone to count it out.

I really like the fact that the Aaron of the Sinnoh elite 4 still uses a Drapion in Platinum despite all the changes made to sinnoh elite 4 in platinum. I don't mind variations in type for type specialists as long as the Pokemon makes sense (and Drapion is evolved from a bug type and knows a bug move) and I think this at least adds a challenge. I hope this continues in the upcoming games.

This. It never occurred to me that there was any questioning that Legends is the more highly anticipated of the two upcoming games. There's no doubt in my mind it'll outsell BDSP.

I love making themed teams, or at least planning out ideas for them, even if most never come to fruition. Of course, this is only an unpopular opinion only because most players wouldn't really bother.

I think the Sinnoh remakes will outsell it due to one major factor: timing. Not only is it coming out first, it's coming out before the holiday season. You're going to have a lot of parents buying December gifts for their kids (whether it be Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, etc.), and they WILL pick Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl solely because it's available. These same parents are going to turn down Pokémon Legends: Arceus under the idea of, "No, I already got you a Pokémon game; I am not getting another one so soon."

Good things come to those who wait, but really, the majority of people don't really want to wait, especially if they miss the holiday season over it.

This is probably an unpopular opinion based on discourse that I’ve seen lately and what people want out of a hypothetical Gen 9:

The next new region should return to a setting based on or inspired by Japan. None of the regions that we’ve visited since the departure from those of Japanese origin have given me the same impression of quality, and they just don’t have the same charm. I think that the promise we’re seeing in Legends is at least partially reflective of this, in that it returns to and expands upon the worldbuilding of what is still the most fleshed-out Japan-based region. Even boring old Kanto, under the right circumstances, feels like more of an adventure than Galar, for example. B2W2 are the sole exception in that I think the changes to Unova and the path we take to traverse it were hugely beneficial to how I perceived the region.

There are still relatively large portions of Japan that haven’t been represented in a Pokémon region, and I would love to see the series return to its roots in terms of worldbuilding. I want to see what Game Freak can do differently in a post-Legends mindset and with a decade and a half of experience with other regions under their belt to help inform and improve development of a new Japan-based region.

I know there are so many other cultures and places to explore, and I want to see all of that happen one day, but I want one last return to the franchise’s original home setting. As deeply as I still love the franchise, something just feels different to me when we’re in Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh.

Me too. I like to make Monotype teams to try out online after the post game. SwSh made this more fun with the Type coded stadiums and uniforms. Recently I’ve done entire play throughs of just one Type which is a big departure for me as someone who obsesses over no repeating types when I build a team.

Yeah, once more Pokémon become available, I'm interested in making a Fire-type team, but it needs some Pokémon that aren't yet available in Generation VIII. I've already made a Normal-type one.

I have also been brainstorming other themes since at least Generation II, but there weren't really enough Pokémon to get them fleshed out yet. The most notable one, though was a team themed on science and technology around Generation V, which Colress eventually would have, albeit missing a couple of slots (his team containing Klinklang, Beheeyem, Metagross, and Porygon2/Porygon-Z).

Most recent theme team idea I had is Pokémon themed on African safari animals. Currently, much of it is off-limits this generation too: I can't use Pyroar, Girafarig, or Zebstrika right now.

So far all the Normal type specialists have been gym leaders/trial captain. Personally I would like to see an elite 4 member or a champion. Normal is a good type for this as there's normally in most region a fair variety of normal types and a lot of them can be very tricky as they have interesting gimmicks or move diversity and potentially useful types if they are also dual typed. There's also been a few regions where a normal type would have had a diversity that the existing elite 4/champion (if they have a type speciality) has lacked.

Pokémon Gō game for fone could be altered so that a team of up to 6 people play as pokemons and the fone plays as a bot trainer,
so up to 6 people will have to be on a pokemon team w/ 1 fone as a pokemon trainer
