Unpopular Pokemon opinions V2 (READ FIRST POST)

I am not sure how unpopular this opinion actually is, but I can guarantee you that if Electric Solider Porygon was dubbed into English it would have been one of my favorite episodes. I’ve seen multiple different comments across various sites saying that if it weren’t for the seizure incident it would just be a completely forgettable filler episode.

I think partially because some people go into that episode knowing that it's a banned episode so they go into it expect a lot more from it unintentionally. I wouldn't call it forgettable as its got an interesting premise but it's not one of my favourites either.

I've long since thought that Marlon's team in BW2 is a bit underwhelming for a final gym leader with only 3 Pokemon . Also with all the Pokemon added to the dex I'd have rather they'd have gone with something different covering an unused type. Perhaps a Rock Gym leader given the expanded unova dex has some decent rock types (even if you don't use the ones the Iris uses)like Tyranitar and Gigalith.

I thought that Marlon was way too easy for a final Gym Leader. Juan and Wallace show how a final Gym Leader that specializes in Water should be. Wallace’s Milotic had Recover to restore health and Juan had Kingdra which was only weak to other Dragon Pokémon at the time and it had hard hitting moves and Rest. So Marlon’s Mantine and Wailord being given Aqua Ring and Jellicent Rest would have made his battle more challenging and make it last longer than five turns. I once defeated Marlon in less than five minutes.

Agreed. That's probably the best you could probably do with the the current team though I'd pick another type instead as Unova's water type options are not as good as some other regions (even with expanded dex ). The other thing is he only had mantine in challenge mode otherwise it was just 3 pokemon Carracosta, Wailord and Jellicent so at the very least if it had to be water and the final gym at the very least give him 5 Pokemon as its not like adding on something like Alomomola or Vaporeon would be a problem. As you say water types have been done better as final gyms.

Exactly. I don’t mind as much if a final Gym Leader has a Pokemon that knows a recovery move as I would if it was early into the game like Whitney’s infamous Miltank. Clefairy getting a random healing move from Metronome I can forgive but Milk Drink on Miltank for only the third Gym and before you have a fully evolved starter is too much to deal with at that point in the game. Healing moves after the fifth Gym help keep the game from becoming too easy as it is expected that they are much more difficult to defeat. Even Wulfric put up more of a fight with his Pokémon and he also only had three Pokémon on his team. Wulfric at least took advantage of Hail’s effects and had Avalanche on Avalugg which could deal a devastating blow if you don’t KO it in one hit since your Pokémon is most likely faster and when you add in Gyro Ball, Avalugg can hit harder than you’d expect.

Yeah fair. I would say Wulfric does feel very underpowered as well but that's probably because he doesn't have a mega in X and Y (like the elite 4) and you have access to multiple of them by that point and have already beaten Mega Gyarados. So only 3 Ice Pokemon would have always been a challenge to get that good. Like you say though there is at least some strategy for Wulfric in the game which could do some damage in the right circumstances . Ultimately one of my biggest criticisms of X and Y is that too many trainers have weaker teams than they need to especially when the Kalos dex does have good options for most of these trainers (including a mega that would fit most of the significant trainers)
