Unpopular Pokemon opinions V2 (READ FIRST POST)

Tepig Pignite Emboar 969

I don't know if this was said before here, but as you can see, I like Tepig, Pignite and Emboar. I also like Delphox and Incineroar, despite that lots of people don't like them as much as both their two pre evolutions. I noticed on polls on Reddit that I made that these were the cases. (Before the mods deleted them. I made them here too, but didn't get enough results). I also noticed this too on Truegreen7's YouTube video on the results of the poll he made on the starter Pokémon and their evolutions, Tepig, Pignite and Emboar were the least liked of the Gen 5 starters. It also showed that Delphox and Incineroar got less votes than both their pre evolutions.

I also liked Sword and Shield and Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

I always see people complaining about how they dislike a starter's final evolved form either because it stands on two/four/seven legs, is human looking, etc...

Therefore, my unpopular opinion would be about how I literally appreciate every starter's final evolved form. Each one of them has its own gimmick helping the Pokémon itself to stand out... and, in a most peculiar way, very good stats to make honorable battle performances out of those.

Digimon fan when they see AncientGreymon/ZekeGreymon: "Finally a Greymon whose final form isn't humanoid!". Yeah, we dealt with "the last form is humanoid" way earlier.

Ace and Aspie, for life and light!
I still want Let's Go Umbreon and Espeon, leading to remakes/ports of Colosseum/XD Gale of Darkness. They've ported or remade most every major GameCube game to a later system, and yet the original story based Pokemon games are only available via the stupidly overpriced used game market. They brought Mystery Dungeon and Snap back, and remade Kanto and Sinnoh. Where are my Orre remakes?! They could even make it digital only, like the Metroid Prime Trilogy on Wii U.

Clearly we're great!
Ok I ran into another unpopular opinion that I didn't even realize was unpopular--apparently a lot of people think Mitsumi is a child, but I always saw her as being around 18! Sure she's a Dawn expy but she's very clearly much older than Dawn is.

OK, I've got a few of these:

1) Typhlosion is so much cooler than Charizard - Typhlosion just has a lot more interesting things going on with it's design, whereas Charizard, while iconic, is literally just a dragon.
2) I don't particularly care for any of the Eeveelutions - This isn't so much an issue with their design, but how limited their movepools are. Whenever I play through a game with Eevee available, I always feel like I could just be using a different Pokémon.
3) The original Diamond and Pearl are not great - This isn't just me using the benefit of retrospect; even at the time I wasn't a fan of these games (I couldn't even finish them). It was only once Platinum came out that I really warmed up to Gen IV as a whole.
4) I am not a fan of Gen V - That is not to say they are bad games; from what I can remember of my initial playthroughs, I'd say they are pretty good. However, whenever I feel like replaying them, I'm always put off by the sheer abundance of Pokémon that I just do not like (particularly the starter Pokémon), and the few I do like are either locked way too deep into the game or evolve at some ridiculous level. I don't really like the sprites of Gen V either.

Kalos is the nicest looking Pokemon Region. XY is not isn't the most graphically intensive game, but the France and Fairy Tale inspired art direction makes it stand out in spite of that. Laverre City's autumn trees leaves and big mushrooms and rustic cabins. The gothic Kalos League cathedral. Snowbelle City's "everlasting winter". Muraille Coast with the Étretat Cliff, where you look out and see the beach down below. Even Santalune Forest looks easy on the eyes, and that's just Viridian Forest at a 3D angle. The lighting effects, flower patches and more natural looking plants and trees give it a nice presentation.

Giving it some time to sit, I actually like BDSP. I’d still say it’s a disappointment as I’d would’ve liked an ORAS approach but it’s probably my favorite remake aside from ORAS

I liked them as well as the trainer customization, while limited to outfits only, is nice and the Cyber outfit is definitely the best looking outfit we’ve seen the player character wearing ever and I did like the change in Contests a bit more but wish we could still have Contest Types for the moves as it seems weird to use any move during any type of Contest. I mean Harden being used to increase the score for a Cute Contest seems strange.

I think they should have had a Johto ground specialist instead of a fighting specialist (Chuck) given that Bruno was sticking around and Giovanni was no longer a gym leader. Johto is limited in terms of a lot of types but ground type had some good options (Donphan, Gligar, Quagsire, Pupitar, Dugtrio , the Nidoking,Nidoqueen, Marowak, Sandslash etc) and certainly enough to be a gym leader. I'd have called him Doug (for obvious reasons).

I’m gonna be snooty and say that the reason why they didn’t is because they didn’t want to reuse Gym Types from Kanto.

Perhaps but given that there was no gym leader/elite 4 that represented the type in the game I'd have included one . I also would be ok if they replaced bruno and made a ground type elite 4 specialist that would also be fine.

Severely unpopular opinion with everyone and their mother in the Pokemon fandom but the BDSP Elite 4 did not need to be competitively built (including a BANNED on Smogon Driftblim set) to be hard. The fact that there are people that genuinely thought it was too easy still baffled the frick out of me. I got so angry going through it I quit permanently and threw my game away because I got so infuriated I got a headache and sickness. That has never happened with a Pokemon game ever with me.

I'm a casual player, the game does not prepare you for a competitive AI, it plays normally UNTIL the E4. They were ''''faithful'''' in all the wrong ways with this game and the E4 takes the kicker. It does not warn you about this at all in the game, everything plays normal up to that point where it screws you up sideways and backwards. You have to drop your ingame team just for the E4 because Ingame Vs Competitive is always an unfair fight because they got EVs in the right place, perfect IVs, hidden abilities, held items you cannot get that compliment their HAs so it hurts more, literally everything you see in competitive wifi, the rare times I did see it beat with an ingame team is by pure luck or they just so happen to have mons that can beat stuff down. But I couldn't even get through it with mine, which every other E4 I could.
All that complaining about wanting them to make the E4 harder clearly didn't want smarter AU, or better movesets, they wanted this sort of difficulty, but I and others have stated that it's painful. Hope the people ragging about wanting a harder and harder E4 are happy because you can't get any harder than this.

I have nothing against the E4 being hard, but this is the wrong way to do it and they listened to the wrong people complaining. If I wanted to go against teams that I see in Smogon I would play Smogon, the literal place for stuff like this, keep the hardcore competitive shiz out of my casual Pokemon games!

If I get people saying it's still too easy to this post it'll only prove my point because listen, you canNOT get harder than a competitively built build for Smogon Elite Four.

Gligar is not a good ground type in gen 2, it literally can't even learn any damaging Ground moves in any way, all it gets is Sand Attack.

I agree. There’s literally no way you can raise a competitive team until the postgame, as most competitive held items are locked to the Battle Tower, and HAs are locked to breeding and Poké Radar. I get why the fandom wanted a more difficult Elite Four, but this was the wrong way to do it, because it makes it unfair for newer players who don’t understand the competitive metagame yet. It only leads to increased ragequitting. No one is happy.

That is true but in terms of a gym pokemon (especially considering many gym trainers use weak Pokemon) it could easily be useful as unlike most Ground type options it isn't weak to grass type which on a gym team with something like Quagsire would be an added challenge. It wouldn't be the ace as its not a strong enough at the time but its got enough options that it could be used to be disruptive. Lets be honest even in the Johto elite 4 Karen used a Mukrow which while it later got a useful ability, moves and evolved form (and later the ability to hold eviolite because of it) at the time was statwise not the strongest but it worked. Gligar could have been similar. Should Gligar have got better ground options? yes. But hopefully if it was going to be a gym Pokemon they'd have at least given it something.

Ummmm... just my opinion, but this seems to be more of a "you" issue (and an unhealthy issue at that) for getting so invested in a video game that you made yourself physically ill over something that should have very little impact on your life? I get that games can be frustrating (and at times they are intentionally designed to be challenging), but if you can't walk away and prioritize your personal wellbeing (both mentally and physically) before getting to such a point that you literally throw the game away because you've become physically and mentally unwell because the game... there may be bigger issues here than just a difficult Elite Four.

I haven't played BD/SP, so out of curiosity I looked at their team setups and...you may actually have a point. From what I can see, these are way harder than their original DPPt teams. For example, they didn't have hold items aside from a Sitrus Berry or set natures in the originals.
These are honestly more in line with what you'd encounter in the Battle Tower.

For me, I'm not too fussy about difficulty in the video games; as long as I'm engaged with what's going on and the difficulty level is consistent, I'm good.
On the flipside of things, this is one of the issues I had with Sw/Sh, where the latter half of the game just felt really uninteresting and not all that difficult.
