Urban Legends of the Mysterious Y-Comm System

Ever since the introduction of the seemingly cosmetic Y-Comm system in Gen 8, players have wondered if there is any real purpose to this mysterious feature that was added to these games.

Most people know it as a "fun", computer-generated "News Bulletin" that simulates what an online Pokemon world would be like if it existed. But people have hypothesized that there could be more to it than that.

Here are a few theories I've came across:

  1. A digital lore library that can be searched by putting in specific "link codes".

  2. An enigmatic idle-clicker game designed to keep your hands busy.

  3. A foreshadowing of a digital legendary Pokemon that has to do with the origin of Rotom.

  4. A slimmed-down and streamlined version of Gen 7's festival plaza, complete without trading, battling, activities, or any connectivity whatsoever. A truly easy to use and simple experience.
While the Y-comm may not do anything currently, it doesn't mean that will always be the case. The Pokemon Company has yet to say anything on the subject, but keep your eyes peeled for more info to come.

If I have missed any interesting theories, feel free to share them below.

... But it has literally all of those things?
