Simple question is, are there any pokemon that you have used in the games that are rarely used, but are actually pretty good? I can think of a few underused pokemon with above average stats, but are there any examples you guys know of?

Here are some useful pokemon in emerald as follows:

Breeding:
Roselia can pass on aromatherapy & toxic to chansey along with other rare moves to other grass/fairy types
Ditto purely for breeding purposes
Smeargle to sketch moves for its field offsprings
Skitty/delcatty, breeding link for field/fairy types that can learn or inherit most of the demanded moves.

Others:
Butterfree, teach it thief and with its compound eyes makes getting items more frequent than normal.
Linoone, pickup especially at level 91 & over
tropius, HM slave for cut/fly/flash/rocksmash/strength

Grumpig is good if you don't wanna deal with catching gardy or zams low defenses, and I like it a lot. And golduck can be reliable even though its rarely used. And of course bellossom, poor things NU

I heart my Azumarill, Nami. Without her, I'd never have been able to take down Flannery. And although people say Mightyena = poo, I'm very fond of mine. *pets Tika*

And by field you mean ground, yes? I refer to ground as Beast, because that's what they are...(a beast is basicaly anything with teeth and either fur or scales)

Back I guess??
guagsire, marowak and dugtrio are also good NU pokémon. (I don´t know the entire list of never used pokemon, but I think that at least one of them are included)

Meow
Swalot may be not as good as Muk, but I still like him.
And Hypno was one of my fave Psychics of 1st gen.
And agree about Mightyena. Poochyena got on my nerves, but Mightyena is extemely cool.

Those are all high ranking UUs.

Wynaut is a mini-wobbuffet. Cool.

LOL Marowak and Dugtrio are both VERY OU. And quagsire is an upper level UU, not an NU by any means

Not quite. Marowak is more "NU of the OU", but Dugtrio is quite common in the OU metagame.

Dugtrio is awesome competitively.

Golduck is cool. Now if it only had Imprison... Then it could totally wall Suicune and Calm Minders slower than Golduck that don't carry Thunderbolt...

Marowak is similar to Moltres in terms of use I guess... Golduck would just be roared out by Suicune... but it would help stop the Ice Beaming ones...

Now one obviously overlooked (cause no one with mention this...), I brought it up a long time ago...

Parasect... HM slave? NO...

He can help catch almost any pokemon with ease... And the Dogs and Lati*** with Ariados or Umbreon...

Spore and False Swipe... one of the only three with it... beats out paras... and smeargle just garbage...

Parasect even has respectable attack... I think it deserves something... especially in XD... Colosseum... nah... just use the Master Ball Glitch... =D

But other may say different... oh well...

I have to say I found my Glalie in Emerald very useful, as it's a good all-rounder with a satisfactory movepool. I don't play competitively, and I don't take things like breeding and EVs as seriously as people who do, so I only have interest in pokemon that will help you take down the gym leaders, elite dudes and frontier whatsits. Because of this, I am a lot more relaxed about choices and would like to check out what you dudes have used despite beliefs of uselessness.

My team in Emerald was full of pokemon that most people would never use (with the exception of Swampert i guess) I just use them because I liked them a lot. They were Swampert, Mightyena, Minun, Tropius, Torkoal and Flygon (i guess he's used a bit too) ;260;

I don't know if it is true or not, but I think Whiscash and Hypno are kind of underrated. They have great stats, Whiscash has a great movepool [Earthquake, Future Sight, Rest, Snore, Fissure, Sleep Talk via MT, Surf, Spark via Egg], and has an above-average Attack and Special Attack score, as well as a high-as-hell HP count.

Hypno is also underrated. With all of the Alakazam and Gardevoir out there, the well-rounded Psychic-type is left to be in the dust. It learns some good moves and fights well in hand-to-hand combat. Headbutt is great for flinching, and Psychic soon after is deadly.

I know hypno is VERY underrated. I use him on my LG; hes like the first gen grumpig with the unconvential movepool and high special defense. Wishcash is a very cool pokemon, but he suffers from the same thing as swalot: being overshadowed by better pokemon of the same type. In OU theres swampert and in UU theres quagsire, and because the two of these are both better poor wishcash doesn't get used very often

I'm not sure if he's UU in most people's teams, but I have severe (and slightly disturbing) love for my Heracross. I only 'discovered' him this time around and I've played through Sapphire 3 or 4 times before this one. V high attack, brick break, and my favourite turn-the-tables- combo, Endure and Reversal.
