Personally, i'm surprised Buzzwole is so high up. Shiny New Toy syndrome is still out and about though so things kind of have yet to settle and i'm sure there may still a ban or two to met out. Thoughts? Any surprises?

I wouldn't exactly call 65/65/95 defenses and normal typing all that "good" defensively. It's got a really good ability, and some nifty moves like Rapid Spin, U-turn and Wish...but I don't think it's in OU to stay. It's usage is going to take a plummet after shiny toy syndrome wears off.

well they're aight defenses for what it is, it can definitely rock AV or lefties/wish which makes it pretty good, it just can't take a physical hit like at all
doubt it'll be OU, just wasn't surprised it had a lot of usage bc of Comatose. It'll probs be RU at best and NU at worst, but that ability and great movepool will keep it from PU IMO.

I'll be in charge of it since our dear leader has been busy lately. Also, in case you don't know the mechanics, how we do it is pretty simple. There will be six rounds in total. Each round, members will suggest a number of different Pokemon sets to complement the Pokemon we decided to build around with. Then at the end of each round, a vote will be casted to determine which Pokemon will be officially drafted into the team.
SO for the first round, we will choose one core Pokemon we will build around. It can be anything ranging from offensive, defensive, to bulky sets, so feel free to share anything that you think will be fun to build!

It's got a great stat spread making it bulky all around and allows it to switch between physical and specially offensive or purely defensive, combined with an amazing typing and a mimic Moxie as it's ability has made this mon' make it on to MANY teams. It has extreme sweeping capabilities with that bulk combined with Autotomize. Leftovers provides us extra longevity, Flash Cannon and Air Slash are standard SpA STAB moves, Air Slash in specific has that 30% flinch chance which can help guarantee a safer 2HKO on some Pokes in the likelihood you make the opposing mon' flinch. Flamethrower is a great coverage move as it can easily OHKO Scizor, Ferrothorn, and weaker Steel/Grass/Bug/Ice types, and if you've got a boost to SpA, it can one hit or two hit Pokemon that are troublesome for Celesteela like Magnezone and Metagross. Of course there's Pokemon like A-Marowak, Heatran, and Toxapex that wall/counter Celesteela and we'll need some support to take care of them.

Here's a nice optimized and lure-ish set. Buzzwole; the swolest of bugs! The idea is to take advantage of switch outs/2passivemons, set up a sub, and punch away our woes whilst making beastly gains in attack! Very effective for knocking down defensive teams. It's own definitive defense means it won't be broken easily with weak physical hits. 0 Atk Lando-T's Stone Edge doesn't even break subs and the small Sp.Def investment means 0 Spa Toxapex' Scald won't break it either. The HP is so S-Toss won't be breaking the sub for sure and the speed will outspeed most Rotom-W. Thunder Punch means Pelliper, Mantine, and a slightly weakened Skarmory after a Focus Punch are KO'd. It's just good flying coverage to. T-Pex takes a bit from T-Punch and Buzzwole can just squat there fishing for a para and stall out some Recovers. ^^; I know you're thinking Ice Punch is best for true coverage, and it may be, but Lando-T isn't touching us anyways and

There's so much to do with Buzzwole, it seems. BU sets, Band sets, Taunt sets, but in the end I chose SubPunch cause it looks fun and Buzzwole is super cool. -w-

Among all the crazy new offensive threats Gen 7 brought, Landy-I really didn't feel like the most troublesome. I get the impression it only got the quickban because a) it was easy to justify by pointing out its lack of counters, and b) it was banned previously and so it was a safe bet.
I just wish these quickbans were coming out sooner, though. The novelty of all the new pokemon is starting to wear off for me and I just want the metagame to settle from its super broken state in which offense is the only really viable team archetype.

It's ok you used to play in BW, if anything, you may feel at home what with Drizzle Pelliper bringing rain back. I know I feel like Gen 5 with this sun team i've been usin. Anywho, thanks for joinin our clan! You can launch out of default rank by battling any one of the war team or I in OU, but you gotta know where to find us. I'll PM you the chat!
Right now we're havin a CCAT, Tourney sign ups, and a ladder chall so you can hop right into any one of those if you'd like.
I only started competitive battling after drizzle+swift swim got banned, but I did try using a rain team with pelipper in the current meta and it was pretty fun.
For the ccat, I actually did come across something interesting recently that may be worth building a team around-

Jirachi seems to have flown under the radar despite having access to Z-happy hour, which gives it a +1 boost to all stats. 252 attack and adamant nature allow it to hit as hard as possible which is required since it only has base 100 attack. 236 speed EVs allow it to outspeed pheromosa at +1. The rest are dumped into SpD so that scarf genesect gets a +1 atk boost from download and has a harder time revenge killing it.
For the ccat, I actually did come across something interesting recently that may be worth building a team around-

^ Hrm, i'd go for Fire Punch over Ice, no? Just think that Steel coverage is more appreciated is all. The Ground/Flyings are much easier to wear down for boosted Iron Head to pick off anyways whereas the steels could prove more troublesome as a few of them could just recover stall/status. I was hoping someone would suggest a Z-Move set!
