Being a novice competitive battler by Smogon standards, I need some team edits and competitive wisdom to make these teams work.

Well for the first team I'd have clefable look more like this
Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAttk
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Flamethrower
- Soft-Boiled
(you could run unaware if you want but status can screw up a set up attempt)

Steel wing isnt that great of a move on skarmory, if you want an attacking move i'd go for brave bird
Aqua jet is an important move on azumarill as azu is slow as hell and I'm not exactly sure what use bulldoze has on it
The scarfed heatran looks kinda weird, I've never seen that before but I'm assuming you're not running it for offensive purposes

For the second team, excadrill is a better sand rush user in my opinion
I think nidoking might benefit from a timid nature instead as base 85 speed doesnt have much going for it
EDIT: scratch the excadrill part I didnt see it was uu my bad :x

It was cleverly written to sound like a dark type beast. In all honesty, I almost went for Houndoom, but the evolution-theory hint didn't match it at all.
