Her shoes Christian
afrothunder, Anakbae, Charizard_Rules, Conquer Phoenix, Lugia-sama, BiGKCB, and I.

These seem to be the only qualifiers for the war team! Even so, the war team can only be 5 members so you all know what that means.

I must leave out two of you as subs at most. Though dont feel discouraged, I may be able to rotate you as wars turn, but right now, i'm putting the war team together.

All of you worked hard to complete this chall, and I mean no disrespect if you end up not being on the team. It'll be up by the end of the day, so if you want to be considered, but still haven't completed the chall. You know what to do.

I do so think all of you have the potential to be great battlers, but it looks like we've got fierce times ahead. So i've gotta put at the forefront our fiercest members.

Good luck, everyone!

Make me sub, baby

Durant @ Darkinium Z
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Hone Claws
- X-Scissor
- Iron Head
- Crunch

Oh so here we got a nice little bugger; Durant! Durant packs quite a punch with its ability Hustle, and while it causes all his moves to have Stone Edge accuracy this can be remedied by one use of Hone Claws, which boosts those moves to over 100% accuracy after a +1. Essentially nabbing a +3 in conjunction with the Hustle boost and Z-Hone Claws. The crux of this set is Z-Hone Claws which is a Swords Dance and an accuracy boost in one turn! Let's not forget that better then average 109 base speed. Its this deadly combo of speed and power that makes Durant an excellent late game sweeper. The moveset is standard enough, I felt we could forgo Superpower for Crunch this time as Doublade is absolutely prominent in the tier and pretty much a hard stop to this hard working ant. It can also double as nuke that won't miss should we need it thanks to Blackhole Eclipse. Outspeeding Durant naturally is a hard thing to do in this tier, as 109 does outspeed a good chunk. Scarfers like HP Fire Shaymin, Fire Punch Flygon, and Flamethrower Zoroark can be a bit troublesome. The last two are rare though, from what I see, so be sure to scout for those scarves. Let's not forget Salazzle as a check as well. While most walls would be hard pressed to take a hit from Durant after a z-boost, they can still do so and do so well enough to cripple Durant. Notable mentions goes to bulky waters like Quagsire, Pyukumuku even Qwilfish or the ubiqutious Chesnaught who all eat from full and can proceed to either Haze away the boost or Roar away, so we need to ensure these are sufficiently weakened which brings home the point of hazard neccesity. With the exclusion of Superpower, certain Steels and Fires can give us a hard time as well. Registeel can eat and cripple with T-Wave and Torkoal/Rotom-H can plain roast us so we'll need to weaken those as well.

As mentioned, Durant is known for its late game sweepin capabilities! Once the opposition has been sufficiently weakened via rocks and general attackin this ant can go to town on the enemy with very little to stop it. Or depending on our team, Durant can easily be the one to punch holes for the rest of the team. Durant has poor special defense though so don't expect it to stand up in the face of STAB special hits. Though Durants resistances and decent physical defense still do help it to find many set up opportunities and +2 Hustle boosted attacks DO hurt. Don't believe me? Take a look. These are calcs on the tiers premier physical walls after the Z-Hone Claws.

+2 252 Atk Hustle Durant Iron Head vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Gligar: 160-190 (48 - 57%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

+2 252 Atk Hustle Durant X-Scissor vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Milotic: 289-342 (73.3 - 86.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

+2 252 Atk Hustle Durant Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Chesnaught: 217-256 (57.1 - 67.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

It just needs the proper team support and we're ready to flow. So Spikes/Rocks to help achieve 2HKOs and we'll need other mons to pressure Durant checks and counters such as special attackers. Chesnaught or Froslass can set up spikes as well Froslass can do so very quickly, but her frailty lends us to have to act quickly on them, but Chesnaught has more staying power. In the end, not a lot can stand to take more then 2 boosted hits from this little ant!

Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind

- Psyshock
- Focus Blast

Reuniclus is pretty fat and can sponge most non supereffective physical attacks. It also acts as a secondary wincon with Calm Mind and can help a lot with stall. Psyshock lets it outpace other Calm Mind users like Comfey. With Magic Guard Reuniclus provides the team with a switch in for Pokemon that try to poison and/or burn like Mantine, Gligar, Milotic, etc.

Diancie @ Passho Berry
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpA
Quiet Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Moonblast
- Diamond Storm
- Earth Power

Diancie! The offensive stealth rockin variant. This Diancie makes its mark being a fantastic check to mons like Zoroark, Salazzle, Honchkrow, Kommo-O, and Swellow! The Passho is very cool as it turns her into a kind of e-check to Sharpedo and Kingdra as well. Moonblast and Diamond Storm are very appreciable STABs and its hard to turn down D-Storm with its 50% chance to highten our defense by 2. Lastly we have Earth Power as it helps clear out Doublade for Reuni as well as just roundin out coverage against Steel types in general as its compounds her offensiveness. Quiet Nature so her bulk isn't compromised as well as the damage output from Diamond Storm though you can change it to Modest w/Power Gem if it turns out we'd appreciate the speed. She works well to check Dark and Bugs type attacks that threaten Reinu and can come in on the fire types that scare out Durant as well and use the subsequently forced switches to set up rocks.

407.gif

Roserade @ Black Sludge
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 248 HP / 244 Def / 16 Spe
Timid Nature
- Giga Drain
- Spikes
- Sludge Bomb
- Rest

Spikes which provides exactly what durant wants. Best defensive spikes in the tier. Provides support to reun in absorbing dangerous status like para and sleep.
Deals with stuff like shaymin which rips the team to shreds rn. And it absorbs tspikes for diance.
Went for rest bc it is more reliable than synthesis. Can go SpD of we want to hard counter special attackers. Pretty open on spread. 16 Spe does outspeed neutral natures base 60 speed Pokemon though.

RU Viability Rankings

Here we have Spikes Roserade! With a mixed bulk, Roserades able to stomach both physical hits and special hits via the investment and natural bulk! A stellar water resist for specially based mons as well. Spikes will be absolutely fantastic in putting pressure on teams and having an immediate answer to Milotic is awesome as well.

Fifth Mon Nominations shall end on

Neat, it's about there for the finale of the team! Just this mon and the next, but don't just slap somethin on there! Really think about it now! Our teams lookin like a bulky offense sort, but don't get too comfortable. There's still a few holes waitin to be plugged in. Sun rampages across us, but its pretty common for Sun to be really good. ^^; Also maybe things like Feraligatr and Cloyster may spell trouble for us as well, so let's give them thought as well. Two mons, cmon now! Maybe some checks in scarf is nice? Or a bulky physical attacker to stomach hits and strike back hard? Whatever the case, do give it a think and suggest when ready!

Flygon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw/Defog

Provides the team with a revenge killer, a backup cleaner, and a ground immunity. Flygon outspeeds common scafers such as Heracross and set up mons like Feraligatr and opposing Flygon (which generally run Adamant) at +1 speed and can prevent them from sweeping. It has good offensive synergy with Durant by threatening steel types such as Registeel which can take hits from Durant while Durant lures/gets rid of some of Flygon's checks such as Gligar, Cofagrigus (bulky ghosts), and Florges (bulky fairies). U-turn provides switch initiative for Durant to get in unhindered and sweep. Also, Roserade can deal with bulky waters like Milotic that wall Flygon. The choice between Dragon Claw or Defog is whether you want hazard control (which the team is currently lacking) or an alternative Dragon STAB to Outrage.

Aw yea, way to go, Zard! I'm glad you're getting these in matching balls as well. The aesthetic is super important.

Thanks :D I always try and match them, not sure for the Latios I'm currently hunting, either luxury or possibly a nest ball not to many choices for a spearmint Latios, so far I'm 3 for 3 on the natures I've wanted on these legends that's always a plus hopefully it continues!

Oh well would you lookie at that! Teams about to be done, just this last dude and it's off to school. Should our last mon provide our team with more of an offensive look? Or should it perhaps solidify the teams defensive backbone? I'd say we could maybe use another mon to help check certain sweepers like Venusaur and Feraligatr but those two are quite hard to deal with in general! Maybe you have the cure? Let us know and suggest!

Alright so this bubbly bad boy? Yeah. He's an excellent special tank and has insane firepower with his water moves. Araquanid eats up any special hits coming from those speedy offensive attackers like Froslass, Zoroark, and Jolteon and can fire back with a devastating Liquidation wiping those frail pokes off the board. Leech Life doesn't hit as hard as Liquidation, but you know what it does? It heals Araquanid. This can be a great move against pokes that resist his water STAB but would hate to be on the receiving end of any bug move such as Bruxish, Sharpedo, and Shaymin, and it can also be used against those pesky Dry Skin Heliolisks to catch them off guard. Toxic is great for burning down bulkier mons that won't easily get 2HKO'd by Liquidation like Cresselia, Chesnaught, and Dhelmise. Infestation can also be paired with Toxic to keep those Pokemon in the fight so they can burned down fairly quickly with the poison, bug burn, and Leech Lifes. Araquanid also helps us with our Dark and Ice type weaknesses we have going on due to it's bulk and power, as well as being able to check and deal with fire types that would threaten Durant.

Don't worry, I never forgot! It's the NU CCAT full team! Our last mon is Araquanid, with an absurdly powerful Liquidation on deck. Infestation can be used on a prediction or against a more passive mon so that Toxic and repeated Liquidation can leave their mark on bulkier mons like above mentions! Really, Erron did a bang up job on the explanation!

Anywho, thanks everyone who took part! We may not be too versed in RU, but it's nice to rack those brains about in regards to teambuildin and familiarize yourself with other mons and metas as well!

I would post a challenge, but right now the RU ladder's a little too fresh on the matter due to a recent suspect startin up. That mon is Heracross, actually! So we'll wait on that to finish and then i'll set you dudes off with the team officially. You can always try it out on your own though, but don't think i'll forget to create that chall.
