• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

im sorry i just started this but can someone explain VCG 11 and any infomation about like whats banned or not and where it is

Welcome to serebii.

All the info we have is in the first post. VGC stands for Video Game Championship. It's a series of real live tournaments that take place at dozens of locations around the world that the Pokemon Company puts on each year. It's really fun, free to enter, and you can win tons of great prizes including payed trips around the world, Wiis, DSs and other goodies.

As for what's banned, *basically*
  • You can only use Unova mons (except Reshiram / Zekrom / Kyurem / Keldeo / Meloeta / Genesect / Victini)
  • Double Battles
  • L1-50 stays the same / L51-100 are leveled down to 50
  • Species Clause
  • Item Clause
  • Self KO clause
  • If you hit run you're a noob and you lose
  • None of the common clauses like sleep / hax items / whatever

Unova Pokemon Only. Reshiram and Zekrom and Kyurem and event only pokemon such as Vicitini and the yet-unreleased Genesect as examples.

Rest is like last year's rules other than there is supposed to be a new self-ko clause implemented in the game.

And to your last question we don't know the locations of any regionals other than Nationals, Worlds and what is supposed to be at Dallas Texas on May 28th.

Hey all! Been gone for a few months, but I'm back! Definitely going to enter the VGC's this year. I didn't fair well last year and need to redeem myself.

I'm glad they're doing the NE Regional in Newark, NJ again. 20 min drive for the win!

And as usual, I'll be supporting my Serebii shirt, and again be the only one to represent. :p

I look forward to meeting some of my fellow SPPFers again (if they are going to the one in Jersey) and hopefully the rest if I make it to the Nats (or attend the LCQ).

Good luck to everyone!!!

edit: Any thoughts on pokemon restrictions for this year? I don't believe their reasoning for it. Especially when they added a Masters devision. My guess, too many Ducks and Skarmblissers made it to the end and they didn't like that. They probably didn't like the saturation of weather teams, either. And the lvl 50 cap? Probably because the "cap" last year gave the 2 groups too much of an advantage. Just my 2 cents on the matter.

edit 2: Since IVs don't take effect until you reach lvl 100, would there be any point to IV breed, or can that be ignored? Or does that extra boost remain if you are at 100 before getting capped? Probably a dumb question, but since I have been out of the game for a while, I can't for the life of me remember. :p

I'm positive they didn't alter any of their rulings because of any specific groups of players. TPCi was probably tired of seeing the same exact strategies over and over. If they allowed for all the Pokemon, the game would feature basically the same stuff as 2009. I think it's fair for them to want a break from that. The auto-level 50 cap is the same as last year and that doesn't give anyone an advantage at all.

IVs take effect at all levels. It's just not exactly 1 stat point for each IV at level 50. Some are skipped over. Like a Pokemon with 30 IV in speed could have the same speed as one with 29.

Same as last year so I am most certainly in. Need to get my team together though, having troubling getting the Pokemon themselves with my RNGing attempts going pretty badly.

I have some questions;
If I use the PokeSav correctly, can they still catch me?
And can I use Pokemon with the DW abillity? Cause there's a problem. And someone knows how can I get a Snivy with it's DW abillity?
And there are ONLY double battles? Even the finals?

My apologies. The cap was 50 last year too. Like I said, it's been a while. I'm a little rusty.

As for the IVs, yeah I remember now. Thanks for the clarification.

I understand the need for a break from the same old strategies (weather teams are so last year :p) but I still think the change is due in part to the Ducks/Skarmblissers/hardcore competitors (since they are the ones who tend to win these every year). Otherwise, they wouldn't have added another division. The only purpose I see in doing that would be to separate the hardcore competitors (who are generally of the older crowd) from everyone else. Not that I don't like them (although some of the Ducks do rub me the wrong way), I'm just saying that it is probably one of the reasons for the change.

Another question for thought: What would be the reason for not allowing Ram and Rom?

@ PBRMASTER: Yeah only doubles. As for your other questions, I think as long as you keep the IVs and EVs within legal limits (which I know they check) and it's moves and abilities are ones that it can have legally (although if you have a DW ability that hasn't been released by then, that could pose a problem) then you should be alright. At least as far as I know. If anyone knows different, please speak up.

*I don't condone cheating by the way, I was just saying*

I mean, how can I get a Snivy from DW? And if I can't, then why it has a special abillity there?

I'm not very familiar with the DW, so I can't really say. It does have a DW ability, which is why it's there, it's probably just not available yet. I would read up on the DW section on Serebii.net to better understand that.

Well, I'm very excited about this WC, because it might be my first WC. Because I don't live in Europe or USA, I have to come all the way to the Last Chance thing, and compete there. And I'll need to save money to pay for the airfare. I think that my team is awsome, and I really think I'll succeed in that tournament.
