Do you think its cheap that water starters can learn ice moves so it can kill grass types, and it can kill fire with water moves.

well they aren't going to learn the ise moves right away and I think its fair becasuse since Ice isn't their type it would be weaker, and not be able to kill grass pokemon in one hit.

The predator awaits.
Okay, consider this.

All of the starters can learn Earthquake. Torterra even gets it via level up, and it gets STAB on it. So does it make Torterra cheap, because OMG MA FIRE TYPE G0T 0WND because of Earthquake.

Or the fact that both Blaziken and Infernape get Rock Slide / Stone Edge to kill flyers? Make up your damn mind on what stance you want to take.

A Sleeper Venusaur defeats Blastoise. So does a Belly Drummer Charizard.

Meganium walls and kill feraligatr. Powerful Herb Typhlosion with SolarBeam weaks Feraligatr (if it doesn't OHKO) and KO on the next turn.

STABed Energy Ball >>> Swampert, Blaziken OHKO it with Solar Beam.

Torterra will have a bad time against Enpoleon due to its 4xWeak against ice, but if it have any chance of Cursing, Rock Carting or Enp is weakned enough, Torterra owns it with Focus Strip. STABed Life Orbed/Sword Danced In Fight from Infernape destroys Enpoleon before it try to move.

It's not a "super effective" question. Pokemon is much more complex than it. Maybe each starter can defeat each other in a certain condition, so the most important is the player skill, not the pokemon type.

Beware the Tobybro!
Empoleon sucks, because quite frankly Infernape destroys it immediately with a STAB Life Orb'd In-Fight. Infernape needs some SpAtk EVs I believe to defeat Torterra with either Flamethrower or Fire Blast. Empoleon fails to be good in this generation, because if a Torterra can switch out then switch in and predict a Empoleon coming he can EQ for the kill

[EDIT]: Exactly what the AP said, but more in-depth kinda. And as for what Frost Nova said, Torterra is not neccesarily better than Infernape, because it is slower, giving it a disadvantage. If you want a alternative to Empoleon, Swampert works quite well

Um...nearly every Pokemon learns at least one attack that can be used to get around its weaknesses. o_o
