Title exists to grab your attention like a shameless ad it is. Today, I shall open a thread on Communism.

The overall debate question of this thread is
Do you think that Communism is a very good idea yet to be fulfilled or is it a good excuse for a small minority to exploit, repress, lie to, dominate and control the large majority*?

Definition: A system of government in which the state plans and controls the economy and a single, often authoritarian party holds power, claiming to make progress toward a higher social order in which all goods are equally shared by the people.

Above is the definition of communism. This here is a Wikipedia entry of the famous ideology.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communism

Basically, communism is a system wherein the workers and other various repressed masses rise up and overthrow the evil facists who rule us in the present system of capitalism. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capitalism

Once capitalism has been overthown, a 'Dictatorship of the Proletariat' emerges to ensure everyone has an equal amount of material goods and services (money, cars, goods, food etc) once everyone has economic equality, the Dictatorship then 'withers away' and the government-less and business-less world is then a communist world. We are all equal and everyone now lives happily ever after.

:D ;) Ha Ha Ha!

So, do you like communism? or do you support parts of communism? It sounds good, doesn't it? but the reality is that countries like the USSR and the socialist People's Republic of China as well as many other socialist nations like Saddam's Iraq and Chavez' Venezuela, Kim-Jong Il's North Korea and Gaddafi's Libya have arose due to, more or less, this ideology. But then again, universal healthcare, unions, financial regulation, scientific funding, other public services and government initiatives are all socialist practises to. When the government excercises control over something and burdens itself with extra responsiblity for the desired benefit of the citizens, that is socialist policy in practise.

So, the overall debate question of this thread is
Do you think Communism is a good idea yet to be properly fulfilled or is it a good excuse to spread misery, atrocities, mass-murders, repression, lies and expolitation* by the small minority unto the large majority?

*Kinda' sounds like our world, doesn't it?

I don't get it. Is this about communism or slavery? Your post and thread title contradicts each other.

Communism. He just makes awkward topic titles to grab everyone's attention (although I seem to remember this topic title but can't just place it...)

Ontopic: I haven't got any opinion on communism, it's just a form of government. I don't care which kind of government I have, as long as it's a good one. Yes, I know that seems like a stupid answer but think about it and you'll notice there might be a deeper meaning to it ;)

You're a horrible troll. If you don't wanna sound like a bratty little kid you would stop creating these degenerative threads. Didn't we have a talk about this?

Democracies with a socialist party who ha smade reforms and a regulated but still capitalist economy= Good

1 basicly every west european nation have that, 2 socialism isn't the same as communism
since communism is the extreme left form
3 now a differend point communism is the best system on paper, but in real life it fails

Communism is an absolutely horrible idea!

It basically turns people from real individuals who have the right to think, speak, and act for themselves into tools. Which is pretty bad, I must say!

Essentially, communism is where individuals effectively don't exist. It's like the Borg. People work solely for other people's benifet(sp) (although those other people don't get it anyway), not having any reward or anything for had work. Also, the horrid idea of "equal results". Let's say that there's a guy who works his butt off everyday to provide for his family, and he provides magnificent service to everyone. And there's another guy, who's a lazy bum. Under communism, the lazy bum gets just as much as the guy who works hard. Now, what exactly is stopping the hard-working guy from being fed up from it all and becoming a lazy bum himself? He gets the same results with less effort! What's to lose?

And then eventually everyone stops working. And that's bad.

Basically, communism is a horrible idea and thank God (please don't turn this into a religion debate, I'm merely expessing my relief about something in my way) the USA won the Cold War.

Vintage much?
Communism is mainly just an economic theory that goes towards more government and public ownership of industries.

But as shown with many examples it doesn't really help for economic growth and causes problems that is why more former communism countries have gone to the free-market economies

It seems as if Cryptozoologist's Satfire333 troll indeed brainwashed you.

^He didn't need to.

My true opinion on communism, is that it is very good... for lazy people or uneducated people who get the same amount of money being a pizza delivery boy as a well educated noble prize winning scientist who is working towards prevention of cancer.

That isn't fair at all.

Lighten' up, bruh.

The reason he's convinced you're trolling is because you just keep making topics with lame titles like this one, and then post an argument that causes A LOT of controverse.

Well, I would have to play Devil's Advocate here. Neither Communism nor Capitalism work. We have been seeing a lot of privatisation recently, which has gone on without any input from the people. A lot of people around the world are opposed to privatisation, and this is evident by protests against the privatisation of water. And corporations are gaining more and more power around the world, at the expense of the people.

Both Communism and Capitalism has its strong points and its flaws, so for that reason I have gone for the second option.

Awww yeah! This so far is my favorite part of the thread.

To be fair though, Communism is a brilliant idea.... in theory. However, the misconception is made that everyone will work equally as hard, and that everyone is equal in the quality of work that they do. This however is not the case. There are some people who strive for the extra mile, and they do deserve that extra incentive that they get in the form of a bigger paycheck. Others would easily realize that they don't have to work as hard to get a fair amount, and as such our quality of product would drop dramatically. Making things go to the gutter isn't really the best idea.

Also, as the Manifesto stated, in order to start a successful communist society one would need a strong leader to lead the way, and would abdicate his role as leader once the communist society was running perfectly. But really, when has someone actually given up their hold of power willingly? I've never heard of anyone in history, and most no one in the world would. As such, the communist society would become a dictatorship, with the man willing to do anything to keep hold of power. As such, the term communism gets a very bad rap.

So to sum up, Communism means well but can never finish what it intended to do. Therefore, Communism can suck it.

Elaborate. This is the debates section, not polls. And your "/thread" thing shows how much of a self-assured idiot you are.

At least I'm not the one quoting a post directly above mine.

Seriously though, everyone knows this. Who hasn't read Animal Farm and gotten the necessary information as to how human nature doesn't mix with communism?

...okay, that's a pretty bad example (not everyone is American, I know), but still. Pretty common knowledge by now.

What you speak of is merely an opinion. Other people may think that Communism is rather benificial. Nonetheless you have to give valid arguments.

At least I'm not the one quoting a post directly above mine.

Pray tell what's wrong with that?
