Baku, which is a Japanese legend that eats dreams to a Hypnotist which puts people to sleep. Sleep is the theme, not the design.

Bagon wishes to fly. It cannot as it has no wings. It jumps off of cliffs to simulate it. All of this triggers its body to go through a metamorphic evolution (Shelgon being the pupa stage) to get to Salamence, which can fly. This is stated in most of its Pokedex entries.

For crap's sake. Can ANYONE ANYONE actually make an educated post as to why something doesn't make sense based on the themes of the evolutions or the mythos behind it?

You know what I don't get, Magikarp to Gyarados, feebas to Milotic and Teddiursa to Ursaring, I mean, those all confuzzle me?

Magikarp -> Gyarados / Feebas -> Milotic

They are mostly (Feebas and Milotic more loosely) based off of the legend of the Dragon's Gate in which a carp swims up a waterfall and becomes a dragon. Feebas and Milotic are also partially based off of the idea of the ugly duckling or the thought that beauty is what's inside and can be brought out if you believe in it or something.

Teddiursa to Ursaring. Gee. A small bear becomes a big bear. Preposterous.

Everything seems to have some sort of explaination if you search on the internet for a few seconds. The only thing I've found that is in any way weird is clampearl's line. All I can find to explain this is that the pearl with eyes is actually an egg.
Also Duskull-Dusclops seems strange. The things they are based off have nothing in common but the fact they are ghostly mythical creatures. Any ideas?

Same here as well. I don't see how an ugly vomiting flower can evolve into a green, clean tropical dancer!

A little off, Gyarados and Magikarp are probably based off of the Japanese version of that story, about swimming up a waterfall. It is a Japanese game, after all. Lot's of pokemon are based off of Japanese stories/creatures. Ninetails/Zoroark are based off the same one(Kitsune), Banette(I can't remember, but it's an object that comes to life. It acts depending on how it was treated before it came to life. Tend to hold grudges.), Golduck(Kappa), and I think there was a couple more gen one ones.

For me I think the fact that Haunter and Gastly have the same weight. Not that the evolution is weird, I just dont undetand that there is no wight change, then it gains like 80lbs into gengar...

Venonat > Venomoth COME ON! Venonat totally evolves into Butterfree. Remoraid is one of three Pokémon that evolve from a fish into a sea monster or whatever that page said. The other two being Feebas and Magikarp. Dratini line is also weird.
