What anime are you watching thread 2.0 ~ Now with more upcoming weeaboo nonsense.

    Vinosea Stealth as a Ninja

I just finished the first episode of Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai. Man I feel hyped up and excited. Hope the rest of the show is just as good.

  2. Prince Umbreon

    Prince Umbreon Starfish and Coffee

So I just started Mirai Nikki last night. I was hella apprehensive to watch it, since it just looked like some sort of typical gory psycho slasher anime. But I eventually gave in, and Jesus, it's not anything like I expected. I mean, it's still pretty psycho-ish and slasher-ish, but all the characters are just so captivating! And everything's so unpredictable; it's just amazing. I want to watch the dub eventually since I love Josh Grelle, but they dun goof'd with Yuno's dub voice in my opinion, so I doubt I'll enjoy it nearly as much as the sub.

    Other anime I'm watching:
    - Assassination Classroom (11/?)
    - Parasyte (14/24?)

    Anime I'm planning on watching:
    - Death Billiards/ Death Parade
    - Shiki
    - InuYasha (rewatch for nostalgia's sake)
    - Gintama
    - Higurashi no Naku Koro ni

  3. Xionea

    Xionea Half a centaur

Yuno's dub voice actually isn't that bad once you listen to it for a couple episodes. I also thought her dub was so awful compared to her original voice, but I got used to it after like 2 or 3 episodes. She does have some good dub moments. For example, her lovey-dovey voice fits pretty well when she calls Yuki "teddy bear." No, really, that's in the dub.

i dont know why i didnt go back to rewatch this earlier but i got a few days until any new series will come out for the new 2015 lists.

@Prince Umbreon: when you do get around to Higurashi season 1. you'll notice a certain pattern the episodes have. watch them as they will be explained nicely in season 2. think of SE1 as an intro session into the second season. i was fooled at first with SE1 but thankfully pushed through it to get to the good parts in season 2.

    highschool dxd se2 ep 1
    owari EP 1
    nagato Yuki-chan ep1

i like how Owari is going at this time. wasnt sure if they'd go the PG 13 route or something much more serious. its just what i need for a psychological horror series. i dont expect too many answers too soon from Owari anytime soon. they should drag it out a bit longer to show how the original culling occured and the time that went by in the first ep. id be dissapointed if they gave the answers too fast.

Nagato Yuki-chan was decent atm. will see how the next few eps will go, the animation style takes a bit of getting used to but we see other characters that dont appear as often in it. it did deviate sucessfully from the Harihi series in EP1, will need to see how she handles Haruhi's meddling.

highschool dxd had excessive service, id like to see if they continue this level when they get to the real plot.

  18. Vinosea

    Vinosea Stealth as a Ninja

I finished even more shows last week:

Barakamon - Barakamon is an intensely adorable show. The characters couldn't have been any better. From the little kids to the adults, Barakamon's cast played well off each other. Each episode, while not high on action, was great and relaxing. The show was so great, in fact, that I binge watched the last nine episodes in one day (after mistakenly resuming the show with episode six, of course.) Anyone looking for a good slice of life should check out Barakamon. Also, I did tear up a little during the last episode when Naru told Sensei that the village was boring without him. 94/100

Cross Ange: Tenshi to Ryuu no Rondo - Cross Ange is a controversial show that will, if you aren't prepared, turn most people off within three episodes. Filled with endless fanservice, brutal violence, discrimination, and some very uncomfortable scenes, it was one of my favorite shows from the Fall 2014 season and one of my favorite shows of all time. The show treats its characters brutally and while the main cast is pretty much unkillable (with the exception of a few characters) minor, background characters are killed left and right in some extremely brutal ways. While the show doesn't teach an unoriginal concept (basically racism is bad and humans are stupid and helpless when complacent), it does teach that concept well. All in all, Cross Ange is a brutal show. It treats its characters (at least early on) with little in the way of respect and decency, but does offer a positive and powerfully told message about the power of friendship, love, and mechs. If you are planning on giving it a shot or have set it aside (usually because of the fanservice) I implore you to stick it out. Cross Ange has a great story to tell and is filled with great characters to tell it. 96/100

ISUCA - Earlier this season I described ISUCA as the show I would root for to get better, but probably wouldn't. I am happy that I was, partially, proven wrong. While the show isn't unique or particularly extraordinary, I did get some enjoyment out of it. While the first seven or so episodes felt somewhat weak/average, it was the final three episodes that saved the show from being Winter 2015's worst anime. The "main villain", who was more like a late-level boss character, was actually a pretty cool character. She was pretty psychotic and easily made up for the weaknesses of our protagonists. 68/100

Love Live! School Idol Project (Season One) - The first season of Love Live! was good. The first idol anime I was exposed to, Love Live!'s first season offers a good story with well-fleshed out characters who have their own desires, problems, and feelings. Filled with the ups and downs common to most idol anime (that I've watched), Love Live! has a good story to tell and tells it well. While my dislike for CG-animated characters still exists, and was probably made worse by this show, I could easily look past it as the show is that good. The art and drawing are gorgeous, by the way. 87/100

Nisekoi (Season One) - I really liked Nisekoi. The story was well told and the characters were well-fleshed out. While I can understand how Raku's denseness to all things female can throw some people off I personally liked the way it was told. While I do wish Raku were a little less dense, I don't think it took away from his character or the story. My favorite characters, by the way, are Ruri and Shu. Ruri's constant pushing of Onodera and her dissatisfaction with Onodera's inability to confess her feelings made her the best character in the show. Shu, the second-best character, was also great. His perviness, and Ruri's Misty-like treatment of him, made him great and the funniest character in the show. Also, I ship Onodera and Raku. 90/100

Seiken Tsukai no World Break - World Break was probably the second best of the six harem shows in the Winter 2015 season that I watched. The concept of plana and the fights were great. For the most part I really liked Moroha's harem mates with Ranjou (with her heretical one tail) being my favorite. I liked the fights. While the whole writing thing felt a little unrealistic (in a combat sense), the resulting attacks were pretty cool. 81/100

Wake Up, Girls! - A really good idol anime that is probably more grounded in reality than Love Live!, I really liked Wake Up, Girls!. While I ended up remembering the names of only two characters of the nine-person main cast, I did enjoy the story. I wish the anime had better animation, though. The quality was pretty poor for this day and age. Either way, I would love a season two. I-1 club needs to be beaten and overtaken by WUG. That reminds me, the group of fans screaming for WUG-chan in the final episode were great. I really liked how they got their own side story that proved that WUG wasn't all alone and had more fans than a few old ladies. 90/100

Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui - WataMote might as well be called either "Cringe: The Anime" or "Let's All Pity Tomoko". Why, you may ask? Because that's the feelings I got all throughout this 12-episode anime. Telling the story of Tomoko, a creepy and socially inept high school girl, WataMote made me sad. While the show and characters were good, the way everyone, except for a few characters like Yu and Imae, treats Tomoko truly made me pity her. That said, I loved Tomoko's character (I could certainly identify with her and her anxieties). She is intensely awkward, but extremely optimistic person. While she is nothing like a genki girl (they may as well be polar opposites), Tomoko doesn't let minor setbacks stop her from indulging in the delusion that she will become popular at the school she attends. Watch this show. In my opinion, it's different from most of the shows I've watched and doesn't suffer because of it. That said, get ready for a pity fest. 90/100

Rewatched the 2nd Gintama movie in anticipation for the new season in two days. HYPE! The OVA was nice too, it was a good "welcome back" gift.

Arslan Senki's first episode felt boring and uninteresting. Hopefully it does get better because it was generic to me.
