• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.

I watched FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, a highly acclaimed and widely praised anime masterpiece in the majority of the anime fandom, ranked #1 on My Anime List, just about a month ago. And boy, did I enjoy it. What an amazing, epic and masterpiece of a show that is, a show which really gets you deeply invested into several wonderfully written characters with the depth of their tragic backstories and makes you deeply feel and care for them, a wonderfully character and story driven show (I have a really hard time believing that any anime can ever top it). Not surprising that after watching it I instantly re-watched it fully again.

I recently finished watching One Punch Man and it was also a really enjoyable watch too, it's unique and bizarre, but at the same time really entertaining.
and fun.

Currently I'm watching:

FullMetal Alchemist (2003 series) [A great show in its own right no doubt, but certainly not upto Brotherhood's level I feel] *thanks to @Power Up*

Food Wars: Shokugeki No Soma (finished watching the first 2 seasons, and plan on watching the next 2 seasons really soon) *thanks to @Darthlord7*

My Hero Academia (finished watching the first season, plan on watching the next two and the upcoming season really soon) *thanks to @Power Up*

In recent future I plan on watching Attack On Titan, Steins;Gate and Death Note.

Right now I'm rewatching the 90s Sailor Moon (DIC dub). I'm on the 7th episode of Sailor Moon R and I'll watch the VIZ dub for seasons 3 and 4 since I don't care for the Cloverway dub and it'll help get me used to the VIZ voices for when the final season Sailor Stars finally gets an English dub release later this year.

I'm also following Dragon Ball Super (the English dub) and Pokemon Sun and Moon (well any episode that doesn't focus on Ash)

The series I watched fully was FullMetal Alchemist (2003 version) and I really did like it, just not as much I like some other animes.

As of right now, the ones I am currently watching are:

Attack on Titan (Season 2, episode 3)
My Hero Academia (finished the first season so I have to start the second)
Code Geass (finished the first season so I have to start the 2nd)

Currently planning on watching Fairy Tail, Death Note, and Konsuba next.

Actually, 345 didn’t recommend any of them to me. @Akkipeddi recommended Konsuba to me, Fairy Tail and DN weren’t recommended to me by anyone, they are ones I placed on my list on my own.

Man, how does everybody watch so many series concurrently? I feel like I always have to go straight through one thing before I start another (goes for anything with a story, really, not just anime). Anyway, I'm about halfway through the first season of Attack on Titan. It's... okay, but so far I can't fathom why it's so popular. I'm mostly watching it because it's never left off of MAL's "My Anime Suggestions", which, despite claiming to be based off my list, I can't help but feel is just recommending me to watch anything popular even if it's far outside my established wheelhouse (half of it is the various seasons of Sword Art Online, My Hero Academia, Mirai Nikki, and, most egregiously because I read the manga for a while before dropping it for being very bad, Shokugeki no Souma. I by-and-large prefer daily life animes, so all of these shounen combat series showing up on a supposedly-personalized list is irksome).

Yay a Konosuba fan. Love that anime so much.

For some reason, I hated the first season but loved the second. I went into it pretty blind, so I don't think I was receptive to the fact that it's supposed to be stupid.

Yeah that's the whole point of Konosuba. It's supposed to be a parody of sorts of most isekai anime. Kazuma is such a great protagonist as he's so self aware and hates the usual cliches and stuff. And the girls are the best worst girls I've ever seen. They're so endearing despite being so useless.

As someone who is up to date with Konosuba's light novels, it's really worth it. Hopefully, it gets another season once the movie airs since there's ton of material to be covered.

So I just finished watching My Hero Academia, and really speaking the show was epic and amazing, I just enjoyed it thoroughly. Deku is so freaking awesome, a typical underdog character who has a high ambition and goal for himself, has immense determination and willpower, strives to be the best and never gives up, he is someone I always liked caring and rooting for. He has worked his way through very rapidly to become my second most favourite anime character (after Edward Elric of course). :) And obviously the show as a whole has become by second most favourite one, only behind FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Can't wait for the 4th season to come out now! :D

Prior to that I fully watched Steins;Gate and I just have to say that, given how highly rated and universally acclaimed this show is in majority of the anime fandom, I really didn't enjoy it even nearly as much as I expected. The first half of the show is a huge drag, hardly any action-y moments, notable or impactful incidents that could have a significant impact on the characters during that part, the plot-related issues hardly get much importance or have some notable events happening in that aspect. The plot really starts to kick in only at the halfway part of the show, and while the second half is characterized by classic depiction of psychology and the character interactions heavily imbued by emotional weight, the shows solely relies on character interactions and psychological/emotional weight for enthralling and entertaining the viewers, it's almost totally devoid of exciting combats/fights which I like to enjoy in a show.

I plan to finish the last 2 seasons of Food Wars: Shokugeki No Soma which I haven't watched yet, and after that I plan to watch Code Geass (recommended to me by @Akkipeddi), Death Note, Attack on Titan and Hunter x Hunter (2011).

I've never really watched anime, but I decided to finally give it a shot, and started with Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, which was such a fantastic decision. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better anime to start my 'anime debut'. Be it the emotional weight, comedy, incredible cast of characters and world building, and the way the plot kept getting thicker without losing its way, it was all amazingly done.

As a result of that, I really got into anime, and have finished Code Geass, Steins Gate, Death Note and Konosuba. Surprisingly, despite how amazing FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood was, my favorites are actually Code Geass and Steins Gate. Code Geass was incredible due to Lelouch, who is my favorite anime character yet. The story was superb too, and the mecha fights between the two armies were entertaining, yet were not heavily dependent on them either which I liked. But the biggest marks come from the ending. What an amazing ending that was in Code Geass. It was very emotional, yet gave off perfect closure. Steins Gate is also a favorite of mine. I loved how different it was, being a seinen anime and all. The plot was built up slowly but carefully, and I loved the characters and their various interactions, while slowly uncovering the mysteries of the phone microwave. **** hits the fan in the second half, which was incredible to see. The themes of sci-fi and psychological mystery was really engaging and I loved everything about it.

So my top 6 in order at the moment are:
1) Code Geass
2) Steins Gate
3) FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood
4) Death Note
5) Konosuba
6) FullMetal Alchemist 2003

Currently I'm alternating between Gurren Lagann and Cowboy Bebop.

Watched a lot of great anime recently, but I'm already done with all of those. Right now, I'm just following stuff that's still on-air.
  1. Kaguya-Sama: Love is War (great manga, amazing anime adaptation)
  2. Mob Psycho 100 S2 (another great anime)
  3. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (or Slime Isekai, a really chill isekai anime)
  4. Date A Live 3 (saw the previous seasons when I was just starting out as a weeb, decided to watch the newer one because 'eh, might as well')
  5. Sword Art Online: Alicization (another series I started watching years ago, heard this is the best season yet and I've suffered through the rest of it already so...)
Might start Dororo and Shield Hero later.
