What are your basic political views?

Kung Fu Ferret

The Usurper
Everybody has different views on all the issues, so what do you believe politically?

To make a long story short, I consider myself to be an anarchist. I could literally go on for HOURS as to why I became an anarchist in the first place.

When it comes to certain issues:
The Patriot Act is unconstitutional, and so is the NSA spying. I support everything Edward Snowden has done.

I think Middle Eastern countries should make supporting the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (aka ISIS) against the law. How they deal with punishment for that should be up to the individual countries.

Health care should be free no matter what
And last but not least...

Marijuana should be legalized federally for all uses.

Justice Forever
I believe in;

- A free welfare state to all citizens in a country/nation who pay taxes
- A free 'open door' policy to immigration and emigration
- The death penalty should be abolished in all countries
- I would like to say I believe all nuclear weapons should be scrapped...However there is the unknowing of whether or not another nation will begin developing another nuclear weapon anyway or if all known nuclear weapons have been destroyed or not. So for now I will say they should at the most be capped
- The government should seek alternatives in terms of energy use such as wind turbines and farms and solar power, rather than for example frack the lovely countryside to death.

Those are my prime beliefs, and I am very left wing.

In a UK-specific context, I believe in

- A welfare state that provides the utmost support to those that need it, but is targeted in a way that rewards those able to help themselves
- An open door policy for tax-paying economic migrants (qualified only by sensible things like criminal records) but tight controls on benefit tourism
- Full maintenance of nuclear weapons and full commitment to NATO
- Full enforcement of existing press laws with no new legislation
- Membership of the European Union
- Expansion of vocational education to ensure university is no longer the 'default' option
- The re-establishment of grammar schools and the abolition of public schools
- Taxation to focus on the provision of services for all, rather than top-down redistribution
- Government that allows businesses to be competitive and keeps corporation taxes low whilst inflicting harsh punishments on law-breakers
- As little state regulation of prices as possible
- Full commitment to long-term infrastructure projects such as HS2
- Affirmative action where necessary, to eventually make way for full 'blindness'
- Maintenance of the 0.7% aid budget
- Keeping the state at a level where it provides full, effective services but does not displace private sector employment

There's undoubtedly more that haven't occurred just yet. I guess my one central belief is in a state that facilitates ambition and opportunity. It is a door-opener and safety net, not a permanent crutch.

I'm an apolitical unbiased democrat

EmphaticPikachu

A tired little girl~
I'm not entirely sure, I haven't delved deep enough to understand where i stand on the spectrum overall. (I need to take my politics based courses first and actually get involved.)

But from my limited knowledge, I'd make a pretty educated guess that I'm pretty darn liberal and socialist overall when it comes to making choices/preferences on the few things I do hear about

Is this some sort of political view survey?

Cause this honestly seems more like someplace you just come here, say your views, and leave, theres very little context to start a debate about unless you outright want to directly pick at someone's beliefs. There's little room for a focused debate...

If the death sentence was abolished people would go around committing crimes everywhere. Life in prison isn't that bad. And if all countries got rid of their WMD's if one country hadn't they would be supreme rulers of earth. And if you're willing to pay the extra taxes for wind turbines and solar power go ahead but tracking makes more energy and costs less.

1.I believe in freedom of speech.
2.I believe in the right to own weapons.
3.Everybody should have to work when they get to a certain age, getting welfare because you can't work is dumb, if someone can't work welfare is okay you shouldn't be paid for being lazy.
4.I believe that if a political candidate is caught cheating he should be Immediately removed from the running no matter what party he's from.
5. I'm strictly a conservative republican.

Democratic socialist who occasionally entertains and is tempted by anarchist theories.

I also agree with Emphatic Pikachu but **** it, it's dead as **** in here so we might as we'll see what happens. I'm hoping it turns into a debate about which political philosophy is the best. It would be fun to argue say, the pros of classical liberalism vs libertarianism.

Complete and utter nonsense. Have you ever heard of this place called Europe? They don't have many guns there either, and yet seem to have a remarkably better situation in respect of crime and gun homicides.

Yeah, bit if those countries where attacked by say ISIS they wouldn't last very long because the general population would not be able to defend themselves. If Isis attacked the general population of England the most the police would be able to do is fight back with their bobby clubs.

Or, y'know, those marksmen they have. Or even these guys: http://www.sasregiment.org.uk/the-sas-regiment-and-the-Iranian-embassy-siege.html

Yeah, bit if those countries where attacked by say ISIS

So, just so we understand each other, in this hypothetical situation ISIS

- Would, with their jeeps, successfully wrest control of Syria from Assad with his planes and tanks whilst under attack from neighbouring countries and the US
- Would amass enough resources on the coast to construct a fleet - a veritable armada - capable of transporting at least several million men
- Would successfully traverse the Mediterranean, fending off the navies and air forces of several advanced European nations including at least one member of the P5 Security Council
- Would manage to force their way through the narrow gap off the southern tip of Spain
- Would engage and destroy the Royal Navy, in addition to those of several NATO allies (including America) and potentially even Commonwealth nations in addition to their air force elements in the English Channel
- Would make successful landings and defeat tens of thousands of well-trained, well-equipped, arguably world-class soldiers from some of the finest regiments the world has ever seen

...

What do I do now?
I'm a conservative. I used to say Republican Conservative, but lets be real here, the Republican Party needs to grow a backbone. If its down to only Democrat or Republican, then I'm a Republican.

I believe in:
-freedom of speech
-right to bear arms
-you know what? I'll just put the Constitution and Bill or Rights so there's not as much to type
-that feminism was once a good thing, but has rapidly spiraled out of control in recent years as an attack on men
-minimizing government involvement in state affairs

I'll post/edit if anything else apparent comes to mind.

If Isis were to attack they wouldn't invade they'd attack from the inside not mass an army. Imagine mobs of guys running through the streams with RPGs and ak47s.

If you want to make a better debate thread for the stuff here make one, but the original topic this thread was about isn't good enough to stand on it's own.
