Believe me man I get it, and I hope going forward we go back to battle oriented pokegirls again.

I enjoy Serena as a one off experimental thing, but I don't really want to see it again either lol

We've never truly had a battle oriented pokegirl though. Gym Leaders with "battle" goals but rarely battle don't count. And some consider Coordinators battles to not be real Pokemon battles. So in that regard we've never had a battle oriented pokegirl. Again I only like the non-contest because it saved Serena from background duty she had going for 40 plus episodes. I'll take it over having a battle goal but only battling every blue moon.

Well I dont honestly care what people think, Contests involve being good at battles, May and Dawn were good battlers (as in they held their own and did a good job in battles outside of contests) , it's a battle related goal to me, even if it did had extra stuff like appeals and whatever.

Whether the next goal is "type master" or a tourmanet thing like Contests, I just want the next Pokegirl to be required to battle every now and then, you dont have to go for gyms to count as "battle oriented" imo

Oh hey, I think May and Dawn are fine battlers for what they are. And I'll stand by that I think Contest battles can be more tricky to win then regular ones in certain situations. I was just saying many don't consider the contest general raw battles. Personally I still think the performance goal should have been actual contest. Who cares if it would have been repetitive? The entire anime is repetitive. I still say Serena was cheated and deserved better.

Pokemon Racer is the best non-battling action goal. Sad thing is they even thought of it for Serena, before switching to Waifu Wars :/.

I just wonder if for Alola Will the Tripokalon, since not having Pokemon Conquest I do not think the writers re-create another profession for the new passenger and not think they'll let a non-playable female companion, as a leader gym . I did not like the Tripokalon itself, but adore that give something exclusive for Serena, if for me that Serena will Alola with Ash to participate in Tripokalon since in this occasion could change some things to make it more "attractive" I say let the presentations, topics and perhaps get a battle to the end but continue siendoel public that their votes. Like I do not think this is the case but I hope not opt for an escort as Iris or Misty whose goals were as ambiguous as the Master pokemon and keep a hand in the battles for the Badges and Pokemon League.

Honestly if we got that goal I can see very similar complaints about it (ie its boring/same thing everyt ime)

I wasn't really interested in the Tipokalons to be honest. The one episode with the shiny Dragonair peaked my interest because it was a shiny Dragon pokemon but most of the time I didn't got into it.

They were ok i guess, but how do i put this? I wish they'd had...more to them? Like i would of liked to see three rounds to them at least (not only two), with a wider variety of themes or something. Also as soon as Serena started her goal, and we found out you could use up to six Pokemon i hoped she'd catch six and put them all together for a spectacular performance for the Master Class, but looking back since it took her so long to start off and such i suppose it was obvious she wouldn't, but the bond the three of Serena's Pokemon have with each other and with Serena herself more than makes up for that i think ^^

Imo also there should've been at least five Princess Keys to win before you could enter the Master Class, not just three, to give her team more time to grow for example; it would of been cool to see more moves from her team to make even more awesome performances/appeals, such as Braixen learning a psychic type move and then Pancham learning some kind of fourth move if you know what i mean. But for what they wound up with Serena worked with her Pokemon the best she could, can't deny that :p

So in short, Showcases were ok...but not the best and i hope the next female companion starts her goal early enough and has more to her goal so she gets a lot of action with her Pokemon. I still like Serena and her Pokemon though and i love any episode dedicated to any of them :3

Should they reappear they can hopefully be developed and fixed based on Kalos' execution. Many complain the contests were similar in evolution, becoming more developed in the Sinnoh region and working more properly as a character arc, while some of the complaints issued to the showcases were mirrored for the Hoenn contests (eg. occasional blandness, the female companion sometimes lacking challenge).

I'd prefer it to stay three keys if it stays however, so the arc doesn't drag too long. It went too quickly in Kalos because it only really focused on Serena winning as quickly as possible. We got one rocky start showcase and a token victory for Jessie, and the rest were just Serena's victories. Had we seen some of the other rivals' victories or a couple more instances Serena lost to one of them before getting the whole set, it would have seemed a more developed arc, especially since more times Serena's style didn't win might have enforced her to change her methods more. I would have liked to have seen Jessie's other two victories at least (I thought it was a shame she never used Inkay as well, though from what we saw, she made a decent evolution in style with the team she had).
