• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

What are your POPULAR opinions about the anime?

Not thinking twice!
For all the flack I give JN's animation, all of Yusuke Oshida's scenes were amazingly animated (heck I thought his big scene in 132 was Ohashi) and I hope he stays for HZ.

So we got Pokemon Diffusion Pump, Barbed Wire, XYZgote, SadoMasochism, JohN wick and now HertZ?
I'm almost sure Zygarde's name is actually due to Zygote! Though don't forget Oyster and AGriculture

Pokemon in SM and JN are allowed to stay onscreen for more than just important scenes and maintain their personalities more.
I am not sure if I would appreciate JN for the screentime it gives to Ash's Pokémon. They lacked interactions horribly, to the point we wouldn't see some Pokémon for months and then randomly once or twice here and there..

True, JN squandered the gained opportunity more often, but still a lot of Pokemon that would be out of focus still got character moments AT ALL. Remember how by XY even smaller evolutions like Sylveon and Frogadier just kinda demoted to props who appeared for key events only.

I watched Pokemon anime for 20 freaking years
What means popular? That is shared with lots of people?

Well here we go

Goh is one of the worst things that happened to the anime

Thanks to Ash Ketchum a lot of people stoped caring about the anime, so it was Team Rocket.

The ending sucks.

Apparently, although is evident that some posters don’t know what that means since they are sharing their favorite personal opinions instead.

Popular opinion is subjective because different things are popular in different places.
Popular applies to what is accepted by or prevalent among people in general. It has a very clear meaning and just because some things may be popular or unpopular in certain places it doesn’t mean that it is “subjective” otherwise what’s the point of asking about popular opinions? Why not use the word “favorite” instead.

I assume OP meant opinions that are widely popular among the fandom in general, which makes the location of those particular fans irrelevant. Now, if someone asks “Which anime’s are popular in Japan vs. the US” then of course the popularity may vary or it may not. It’s a fact that some things are liked by the majority while others are not. You’re basically saying that if someone says “Tobias is the best written character” then it is a popular opinion just because that person says so. Popularity is not subjective. The taste of people is subjective and that may influence the popularity or unpopularity of something.

Well I was thinking of like Goh as an example. Supposedly he is not popular in Japan, but a fair amount more in the west.

I mean I get MPM being underwhelming and bit of a letdown but its so largely unoffensive and more of a drawn out last hurrah with Ash mixed with old nostalgia that idk how it can be "so bad it taints the anime"..... Its just there

That's how I see it basically. It was an epilogue to have some last few classic ashime episodes, with Ash also making the realization that "pokemon master" is essentially a neverending quest.
