I think they're cool despite the "non-threatening antagonistic team" beginning to get just as old as the infamous evil teams from Gens 1-6. My favorite bosses are Mela, Eri, and Giacomo. They have nice teams and designs. If I had to choose 1, definitely Mela. Her having my favorite Gen 9 Pokémon as an ace only makes her better. I like them more than Rocket, RSE Aqua/Magma, Plasma, and Yell but less than Galactic, Flare, Aether (idk if they count), and Skull. Their battle is one of my favorites and up there with Galactic Commander, ORAS Maxie/Archie, USUM Cyrus/Lysandre, and all the Skull music as some of my favorite antagonist music.

Aether (idk if they count)
I always count them to be honest, even though they tend to get forgotten in the polls I’ve seen online.

I really liked Team Star. They actually make sense in the grand scheme of things and the region. I enjoy the nuesance teams more than the 'We want to end the world with legendaries' teams. Team Rocket is still my favourite, but team Star is a strong second while Skull completes the top 3.

And their theme music just slaps. The theme for Penny is an absolute banger.

I like em for a non-evil villain team, much better than team yell and the bosses had great designs. My favorite one design wise is Giacomo but Eri is my favorite character wise, she's so sweet and I love the detail of her having heal balls

Out of the evil teams whose goals are not related to dominating a region or tied to a Legendary Pokemon, Team Star would be one of my favourites. Favourite design is Atticus while Eri wins it for personality, also their battle themes slaps though it is a shame you don’t get to hear the grunts’ themes too much.

Overall, I like the concept, the character design, and the story resolution.

But the hook sucks. This was the storyline I was least invested in until the end. They didn't do a good job, IMO, of setting this story up or bringing you into it like they did with the Victory Road or Path or Legends stories.

True but they at least had that really cool Clive dude, too bad they never explained where he disappeared to

I really like Team Star. Not as antagonistic as I had hoped but understandable considering the story and setting. I was kinda hoping we'd see them in normal school uniform.

Their theme is great and funnily enough, it is actually being played in-universe thanks to Giacomo.

I agree about Penny's true character being obvious from the get go. But Penny is great during the final arc.

I like the interaction between the characters. Heck all NPC interactions in this game is the best in the franchise. Also Clive best boy. Too bad he vanished and nowhere to be found post-game.

Clive has been found dead in Area Zero

Yes. Better than dumbass Team Yell.
The fire one because of her looks.
Nah. Team Rainbow Rocket is still GOATed with the whole squad of team bosses.
Meh. It's not that memorable to me so I think it's not that good. But I don't remember detesting it either. It's mid.

My main problem with their storyline is that it was pretty formulaic. Random acquaintace of the boss appears, fights you, tells you to ring the bell, then you beat 30 mon through Let's go feature, face the boss who usually only has a few pokémon and always has the same ace as the others, sit through a backstory of them standing still talking, Clive appears and does absolutely nothing, then Penny appears too just to remind us that she actually exists (and that she is totally not Cassiopeia) while forcing you to sit through more uneventful dialogue. It's hardly any different each time.

Wasn't the point of adding these 3 routes to shake things a little bit and change the already estabilished formula? Why are they changing the formula if they are just gonna add something equally repetitive as the badge quest?

Either way, the cutscenes were unnecessarily long and i feel like nearly all of the important plot points about their backstory were mostly given to Ortega's fight, while the other cutscenes didn't add much to the story (especially Mela's) other than reinforcing the already estabilished dynamic. Like, they info dumped pretty much all of what happened through Ortega's mentor, rendering the other cutscenes mostly useless.
Also, the plot "twist" was way too obvious.

That said, the fights were satisfactory in terms of difficulty and the designs were amazing. I also enjoyed the characters' personality and the music too.

The most underwhelming aspect for me, good designs wasted on a boring predictable plot. I was face palmed when they said team star were the real victims. Just give us a proper evil team again please but I fear like gen 3 when we lost an actual rival and never got one back we probably won't have an evil evil team again...

"Lost an actual rival and never got one back"
Just because rivals don't send you the LowTierGod lightning picture (you know the one) after every battle doesn't mean they don't exist

I'm glad they moved away from those bad teams where they wanted to take over the world, it was boring and very repetitive, another bad team wants to get a legend and destroy the world? Which time is it? 6? boring and uncreative. Star is a nice springboard for me, something more original than previous threads. Before someone says that they are not interesting or original, I will answer yes. First, these are students who have been humiliated and intimidated by others? Who doesn't know this pain doesn't know how children can be cruel and bestial. secondly, they helped those who were rejected by the school society, thirdly, the topic of 9 genes is school, so they gave a team that perfectly met the requirements. I imagined this band as an elite who consider themselves better than others and it didn't happen, they are not my favorite band, but I'm glad that I could play and learn about their history, they have more stuff like that

I think Team Star was the best "evil" team we had in ages. Yes the outcome was predictable, but c'mon, when was the last time Pokemonw asn't predictable? Even the other supposed plot twist in the game was pretty predictable (maybe not the exact events, but the rough idea).

Team Yell was absolute trash, and Team Skull was kind of half-baked (like they were trying to be a sympathetic and an evil team at the same time)
But with Team Star they actually did a good job with expressing their motivations and how they came to be to the point they were at during the game. The characters themselves were pretty good too for a Pokemon game and I liked their designs.
My favourite was probably Giacomo, both design and personality wise, plus it was nice to have another Dark Type specialist. But all the Team Star bosses were good characters. I also liked that their fairy specialist was a boy, I think he's our first male Fairy Specialist (well him and Bede, but that happened during post-game)
I also like their catch-phrase "Hasta La VisSTAR" And I'm glad that everything worked out for them in the end.

As others have said, it's nice that they went away from the endless procession of evil teams that wanted to use the box legendary to rule/reshape the world we had from Gen 3-6 (7 if you include Aether). And this time the whole thing actually worked out, unlike with Yell.

It's also the most realistic bullying story because they were villainized for standing up to their bullies and the school tried to cover up the fact that the bullying ever happened ;)
