What changes made in the Generation I remakes FRLG and LGPE do you like best?

Aside from the better graphics and more balanced mechanics? What are some things done better in one than the others? And what are the things you prefer in the Gen 1 games over the remakes? And what are the reasons you prefer one over the others?

For FR/LG, Pokemon having abilities. Also, that cutscene when you teach a TM is pretty cool. As for what I prefer for Gen I, the games are much simpler to play. It also makes them harder since certain Pokemon weren't very good to use until they had abilities. I didn't have a lot of fun when I played Generation I (legally) for the first time this year, but I can appreciate the simplicity of the game as opposed to Gen III Kanto.

I can't say anything about LGPE, I purposely skipped those games. But, I did like that they let you walk with your Pokemon. Only reason I didn't buy them is because I didn't like that they only let you use the 151 Kanto Pokemon + Metlan and Melmetal.

The Sevii Islands. The Sevii Islands by far. It's the only remotely substantial content actually added to RBY, it actually adds new areas, new Pokemon, and new plot points to RBY.

I can't think of anything RBY does better than FRLG (LGPE yes, and that's actually having Wild Pokemon battles, but that's more LGPE shooting itself in the foot). RBY is such a basic ass experience that's outdated in just about every way that there's little if anything I can say it does better than any future game. And really, that's not a bad thing, since if a series is continually improving the later games should be blowing the older ones out of the water, but if you're looking to compare strengths and weaknesses between the original and its remakes, there are none to be had as far as I can see.

In FireRed/LeafGreen, I greatly prefer pretty much everything, as Yellow (the only Generation I game I have ever played) was just not fun to play, even if it had some pretty amazing glitches), but Sevii Islands are my favourite part of the game, since Kanto is a bland region on its own.
Never actually played the Let's Go games, but I guess the physical/special split and Fairy-types were an improvement.

Oh yeah, the glitches are fun from RBY, but that's not something you can really give them credit for since glitches are unintended. In fact that's also a point against RBY because it shows that they were unpolished and not designed well.

Abilities were a nice addition, as were the variety of new moves from R/S that were added to the rosters of Gen I species in LG/FR. I also liked that glitches from R/G/B/Y were removed.

FRLG: Abilities, better movepools, much needed QoL, slightly better type balance, held items, and much more. I still think they’re easily the best way to play Kanto.

LGPE: Fairy Types, Alola Forms, and Megas but not worth removing Abilities and held items
