• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

What do you think about EVs/IVs

EVs and IVs totally changed the game for me. I have not done a play-through in the longest time, but my last one was FireRed and me being the perfectionist I am, EV trained and got decent IVs for my storyline team. Other than their effect on my view of the game I think they are amazing, they add a sort of variety to the game that makes it a lot more interesting and a lot more diverse. We got a glimpse of life without them in the Mystery Dungeon games and the level up process was not as interesting as it was in the other games in my view.

IV breeding takes too long, but I can EV train just fine. If I just want to play casual I ignore them. Their only meaning is for competitive reasons.

I think EVs are great and really useful later on in the games were the battles become tougher . I haven't EV trained a pokemon yet , but I plan training at least one! However You need to be patient and have time to EV train , or you'll just get fustrated. I'm not actually a competitive battler , and I think it's a good trick to have when playing casually against un-expecting friends!

They're cool in a way, but I honestl don't care about it. I raise a Pokemon and love it no matter what. If it's my favorite Pokemon, I'll send it out and have it battle! I don't care if it's IV/EVs are at they're highest, as long as I know I trained it good and it has a good move set, I'm happy.

i never bothered with iv's but i started ev training since pokemon ruby/sapphire, i am always in a competitive mood and i, actually, wanna be the best there ever was :p
most of my time doesn't go to ev training tho, it is egg breeding like no tomorrow, good gender (i prefer certain genders for certain pokemon) and nature/ability can be a chore but i got the patience so why not? xP

it gives depth to the game who want it and it doesn't have to be anything a casual player would need to worry about.
so i am ok with it, iv gives (for me) a to little boost to really go for an allround 31iv pokemon so i guess i save time with that xD
