How can we guarantee a grass,fire and water starter trio again? The legendary trio (legendary birds and dogs) had similar types with each other until the regis had completely different types from the previous generation except for regice. Articuno-Suicune Moltres-Entei Zapdos-Raikou so there might be a possiblity that the starters will change type. There might be a rock, fighting, flying trio this time. Thats even more possible as there are pure flying types now.

Well i hope that they won't change the starters types but new type combos with them is ok, anyways :
The grass starter should look like a ball with leafs & has no legs.
The water starter should be sord fish pokemon or a water bear
The fire starter should be a fire snake.

Well,there are always patterns in each starter.Like Nidorino99 said,water starters always can live on land.The fire starters always have flames in its body and the grass starter always has a leave/flower/bulb on it.

You make a valid point, however you cannot compare the legendary trio to the starting trio, b/c you get to catch all 3 in the game as opposed to you only being able to catch 1 of the starters and your "rival" gets the superior type to your selection.
Trust me there is no better type triangle than the Fire, Water, Grass.

I'd like to see both the Fire and Water typed starters on four legs in their final forms, as the rest have been on two. However, the Grass starter should be on two legs, and less dinosaur like than before, for a change, but the other starter rules should apply. I doubt I'll be surprised by the appearences of the final forms to be honest.

Come now, you've been here long enough to at least see some of the debates as to why no other 'type triangles' work as well as Grass/Fire/Water do for the Starters. Also, 'similar' types don't count as exact. Suicune and Articuno's base types (And in Suicune's case, only type) aren't the same.Mewbiraxys said:

They've each had one stage at some point in a generation that uses four legs as opposed to two, even if it's preference. Quilava and Mudkip. I think we need more species variety. How about having the water starter based on a dolphin or a hippopotamus, the fire starter based on a meerkat or an anteater and the grass based on a peacock or a toucan?

As for why the types for the starters won't change, look at their abilities. Overgrow, Blaze, Torrent. Only starters have this. You don't think they would destandarize this tradition, naja?
