FFIX is probably the best FF game ever, that I've played *Has no PS2* I've played it twice through this past summer, once with out codes, and once with, and I still find the game so FUN!! It stirs up powerful emotions in me.

Comment on this game, that why I made this thread.

Story wise it was great but I personally liked 7 better. 9's ability system just didn't seem as advanced. I like the fact that 9 had multiplayer during battles though.

Not as advanced? o_O; If anything, the Materia system made everyone the damn same in terms of abilities they use. The ability system in FFIX required work to keep the abilities and alot of pieces of equipment had one or two abilities for one person to use, while it had another for someone else to gain.

Story was great. Music was WONDERFUL (you could just lay back and relax too all of the music of FFIX). Characters were original (okay, maybe not Vivi's design) and weren't the damn stereotypes Square's been following (hurray for Zidane not being a loner or emo goth boy or looking like a woman). Just everything about it was absolutely wonderful.

..Now what the hell happened that made them go from good (FFIX) to horrible (FFX)? D:

Amen to that, FFIX had music so great, and a game play system so fun I shake every time I think of it. I'm a hopeless romantic and so I did everything in my power to bring Zidane and Dagger together.

The reason why I don't like VII as much is because it is just too dark and uneven, although I still like it, I really would rather have FFIX, even VIII (I love having all those abilities).

yeah, I too loved how it went back to its roots. The setting was a fantasy world again rather than all that sci-fi crap the last two games had, a four-person party, each character having a unique set of skills and abilities, lots of fun mini-games and sidequests, and all the other stuff that was mentioned before like the uniquely loveable characters, great music, and a storyline that was very light-hearted at times, but still very dark and dramatic at others. I also loved all the numerous and beautiful FMVs complementing the storyline (honestly, who couldn't feel for Vivi upon watching the FMV that played shortly after the third Black Waltz appeared?). As a fan of the previous Final Fantasy games, the tributes were also a nice thing. Garnet disguised as a white mage in the beginning, Vivi looking like a classic black mage, cards of Final Fantasy IV and V sprites XD, and many more. Several of these tributes (among other funny tidbits like stuff written by Vivi's foster parent) could be found by inspecting several things, which made exploring the area and reading all the little signs and such actually seem worth doing.

2 words: ABSOLUTLEY BRILLIANT. I played it again earlier today, as a matter of fact. I'm on Disc 3, Terra. Does anyone know how Vivi learns Firaga, Blizzaga, Thundaga and Watera?

Yeah, I loved FFIX! It was the first Final Fantasy I've ever played. Because of It, I got into FFVII, FFVIII, and FFX. And the music was the bomb. Nobuo Uematsu really did an awesome job composing the music. I played this game 5 times now and I still want to replay it. The magic effects was also very incredible! Just compare FFIX's Flare to FFX's Flare. Man, the FFX's effects can't even come close to FFIX's. But now the Final Fantasy series have gone downhill because of the online thing. And the final fantasies aren't really RPGs anymore. Ever since FFX, their games weren't so good anymore like their Crystal Chronicles. All square enix is doing right now is expanding their award winning FFVII title with FFVII Advent children, Dirge of cerebus, and FFVII for PS3. WE WANT THE OLD FINAL FANTASIES BACK!!!!!!!!

And we're getting them. FFI&II came out for the GBA, III is slated for the DS(dunno why, but it'll be cool, I hope), IV is on its way to the GBA in December, and V and VI will undoubtedly (but not officially, yet) follow. But I agree, Square Enix should have quite the VII hyping a long time ago.

As for IX, I don't completely agree with Ed about the music. It had some of Uematsu's best tunes in it, but I never warmed up to alot of the others. The game itself, I never got very far into disc 2 (got stuck on the ant lion boss in Cleyra) and I've given up consoles since then, although I'm reconsidering with the Revolution. I'll probably never finish it. I do like it though, even if I never beat it.

Good lord, that monster is easy!! All you have to do is try and get your characters into the high teens and then throw all of your most powerful attack at it, it is quite easy. I feel for you because the game really got intresting once Lindblum was first reached and then got better and better until about Disc Four (once I returned to Gaia I started a new game).

Octagon Rod has the 3 main elemetals, I can't recall how to get Watera.

To this day forth, FFIX is the only RPG game that I can sit through and play again and again, till my eyes fall out. Sure, FFVII was good, but I couldn't sit through and play the game more than twice. The story was just a bit too depressing for me, while FFIX was more light-hearted and sweet. I'm sorry, but I'm a sucker for those storybook endings. LOL

This game can obviously be called the best RPG game ever! My favorite character is Vivi because we are alike in so many ways, quiet, and shy.

Alot of us can also relate to Zidane.

Carefree guy who just goes about his way of life..bit of a perv too. XD

Can't beat the "Ooo..soft." bit where Zidane accidentally grabs Garnet's butt as they climb the ladder to an air craft as it takes off. XD

Can't really say any FF is the best FF ever, but I did enjoy this game. ^_^ The system made everybody different (unlike VII). The story and music were beautiful. Yeah, sure it's a rework of FFIV, but it's one **** of a rework! ^_^ The characters were wonderfull as well. And you too Zidane...."Oooh...soft!" XD

Sorry for going off topic, but...where in the world did you get the idea of FFVII for the PS3? o_O The one in charge of Square Enix told Nomura if he wanted to make it, he should go for it. But, he's too busy with KHII and some other projects. So...I doubt it'll ever happen, but if it were to happen, they'd better remake the others as well.

'Nuff said.

Go to the Advent Children Website, he talks about the Final Fantasy VII REMAKE (thank you God) in an interview.

Err....*reads it* okay so he says that he might do it. *hopes that he puts in Advent Children-like battles and Advent Children levels* But, he needs to redo the story, though and characters...:/ He has so many other project in the future (possibly KH3, FFXIII, FFXIV, etc.). So, I doubt it'll ever happen. :/

There isn't a font large enough to express the WTF I am feeling right now. Now let's go back to praising FFIX.

I totally agree with Ed on the music. My FF9 Disc 1 stopped working some time ago, and I didn't mind as much as I would with some games, because it would still work up to the part where the music loads. I tried to fix it so much that I destroyed it completely and now I'm ****** because I can't hear the Ice Cavern music anymore. =(

Clearly we're great!
9 has a swampdwelling tonguebeast who gains skills by devouring the opponent. That makes it great.

I think Final Fantasy IX consists of Uematsu's best soundtrax ever! Man, you just gotta like the "You're not alone" song. It's da bomb! Oh yeah, I heard they were making FFVII: Crisis Core as well...
