Apparently, Pokemon wants to interpret hippies as scary, creepy individuals. That's probably the closest I can get with Arti, and yeah, that was the style for Men's pants back then...

Anyone noticed anything that reminded you of a Gym Leader or you interpret the Gym Leader as something?

I think when I first got into Naruto, and saw Minato, my exact words were 'Wait, what's Volkner doing in Naruto?' XD

Oh, on a little off-topic(but somewhat relevant) tangent, there's a moment in Avatar: The Last Airbender where Aang looks a lot like Goku, then Shino, then Legolas(but with black hair) in his dreams. I lol'd. Hard.

Well, this isn't related to appearances or anything, but Sabrina always reminds me of the Twilight Zone. The reason being that the part of one of the anime episodes she starred in ("Abra and the Psychic Showdown") looked very similar to a Twilight Zone episode where a man discovers that he's in a dollhouse (with a little girl playing with him too). It almost makes me wonder if the people who made the anime consciously decided to do a parody of that episode.

Also, when re-watching some anime episodes one day, I saw Lt. Surge's assistants, and I swear they looked very much like, if not just like, the main characters from Lupin III.

Winona reminded me of Kazemon for some reason... if she puts on goggles and faery wings, I bet she'd look a lot like her.

To stay within the Pokemon world... When I first saw Crasher Wake, I thought, "Did Chuck lose his tan and put on a mask?"

That and Gardenia reminded me of Bugsy.

Flint also reminded me of Ronald McDonald, especially with his hairdo.

Wait a minute, Flint's not a gym leader...
