What happened Raikou?

Why Raikou's appeareance was changed from Gold to Crystal? OK, the new face looks pretty cool and Sabretooth-like, but I don't understand it... Are there more extreme changes like this in Sprite-History, like jynx becoming purple?

Tentacruel had two large tentacles in GS, in C it has merely lots of small tentacles. I'm pretty sure Raikou was one of the larger changes. Sneasel was another. Different colours, tail and ears.

I do know that Dusclops has four fingers on the GBA and five fingers on the GCN. :p

Yeah...the funny thn gis, the fronts of the sprite are WAY different, but the backs are identical between the 2nd & 3rd generations. Charizard's back is what pointed that out to me.

the GS Backsprite of Dunsparce was Fat looking and overweight.
The Crystal Backsprite, however, looks much better

What good change I noticed is that in r/s/e They changed Oddish's eyes to yellow instead of red.

Well, I'll join in saying that the Crystal and onwards version of Raikou looks MUCH better than the one in Gold and Silver.

Of course, I think it might just be a flaw in the sprite, considering that the Sugimori art of Raikou has always been sabertoothed and all that.

To be honest, ALL of the G/S legendary beast sprites were rubbish. Entei reminds me of a tuma, and Suicune is... demented.
The back sprites were also stupid. When I first used a Suicune, I was like 'Huh?'. I'm glad they fixed them up a bit for 3rd gen.

Overall, I doubt that Raikou was changed at all, just the sprites were crap.

As far as I know. Jynx was forced to become purple because certain authorities thought it was racist to black people. IMO, it was racist to change it's colour.

I'm glad they changed Raikou, it looks so much better in Crystal.

wasn't Raikou's thundercloud cape thing colored orange in G/S, but then they recolored it a purple-ish color in Crystal?

Not to mention it's claws turn from orange to white.
