That of course depends on whether Pikachu is following basic game mechanics.

Anyone with a team of decent fullly evolved pokemon should be able to beat the brat, but lets not forget he can aim for the horn and posseses the power of plot.

Ash would lose to you, then he would go off and have a bit of a sulk, Team Rocket would capture Pikachu, he'd beat Team Rocket, learn a valuable lesson about friendship/morality/trust ask for a rematch and beat you with ease/hax.

On the other hand, as ceibi88 points out, there are no EVs in the anime, so if Ash doesn't have an EV trained team, how can you? In the anime pokemon aren't limited to four moves, you can use as many moves the pokemon is capable of learning and you are not so set in your ways of them just attacking. It's all down to your imagination. They also don't possess levels, which explains how Pikachu often loses to brand new pokemon that are clearly weak against electricity. If there were levels, Pikachu would have been at 100 a long time ago. No attached items, no physical/special nonsense, no base stats.. nothing you build your teams around exists in the anime other than types and abilities.

Lightining Rod. Ground type. Even types and abilities have little to no effect in the anime, as I've already pointed out.

Ash has plot. You're rules are meaningless to him.

There's a huge difference between writing about something, and actually doing something in real time.

Think of the reaction time needed to craft the strategies Ash makes during battle.

Now realize that the posters on the boards you refer to basically have all the time in the world to make their plans in between posts.

This will be based off my Platinum team: Pikachu will take down by my Alakazam, Grotle be taken down by my Charizard, Monferno by my Alakazam, Buizel by my Leafeon, Gliscor by my Empoleon, and Staraptor by my Raichu.

If I use my dream Sinnoh team in anime form: Piakchu will be taken down by my Rhypherior, Grotle by my Gengar, Monferno by my Alakazam, Buizel by my Riolu, Gliscor by my adament Jigglypuff, and Staraptor by my Luxio.

I would tell him that he must balance his team type wise to create the perfect team and must replace either his Staraptor or Gliscor to do so.
