Seriously, who didn't expect me to show up in this thread?

Missingno. is the paragon of Pokemanity! And I consider myself somewhat of an expert on it (hence the name Missingno. Master).

As I am about to tell you, my good people, Missingno. is NOT as bad a Pokemon as Master of Light makes it out to be. Here's the REAL list of pros and cons of Missingno..

Pros;

-Missingno. is a very powerful battler; It can learn Swords Dance, Submission, Sky Attack, Mega Punch, the whole 9 yards.

-Merely encountering a Missingno. will clone whatever is in your 6th item slot, creating 128 more copies of it, be it Master Ball, or Rare Candy, or Full Restore, or what have you.

-Missingno. can "evolve" into Rhydon, by depositing it in a PC, viewing its stats, then withdrawing it. It won't count towards the Pokedex, though, and will still have Missingno.'s cry when it faints.

-Missingno. has a brother, 'M. It's identical to Missingno. in every aspect except its cry and evolution- it evolves into Kangaskahn upon gaining a level!

Cons;

-Your hall of fame is screwed for life. It's actually pretty entertaining to watch.

And to answer the question on how to find it;

First, you talk to the old dude in Viridian. Watch him catch a Weedle. Then, Fly to Cinnibar Island, and Surf up and down the eastern coast. You will find Missingno., 'M, and numerous Pokemon over lv. 100 depending on your name.

Though some of Master of Light's suggested cons I have heard happen. It must be rare I guess. I once heard of a guy who posted on another forum that after catching missingno the characters screwed up. Most Pokemon going backwards and the Ash sprite screwed up aswell. There have been pictures of this on other forums. I think the thing that prooved the poster was telling the truth was that at the end of the discription of the problem he asked if his games screwed.=/

There has been random things I've read and seen from people who meddle with it. For the majority it doesn't hurt their games but the rest it does. It depends on the cartridge and the situation I suppose. One friend of mine delt in Missingno couldn't save his game after seeing it. The worst part is that replacing the internal battery didn't help. Another friends game save deleted and they had to start again. While me and my third friend hasn't had anything happen to our data. He uses Missingno alot and the worst that's happened is the Hall of Fame and I've seen it once though I did start the game again soon after that. Though when I did have the save nothing happened after seeing it. It must depend on the cartridge.

Funny my friends Blue game became so sorrupted after using Missingno all the time that he ended up with an Item bag full of bikes (as seperate items, since you can't duplicate key items anyway), Gary permanently locked in place outside Viridian City, and a nasty habit of locking up about 30 seconds into loading the game. Misisngno affects games in different ways, that's the nature of a glitch.

I have to admit, I did use this trick to increase the number of items... and I didn't even use it on just masterballs or rare candy...

I also used it to increase the number of 1-off TMs such as Earthquake and Ice Beam, and Nuggets to get super-rich...

You forgot that if you see a Tauros etc in the Sarfi Zone (spelt wrong), then head for MissingNo, then you can catch it there by being able to actually battle it.

MIssingNo is essentailly that: an attempt to call a Pokemon that doesn't exist. I have heard of people with RBY MissingNos trading them to GSC and them becoming 2nd-gen Pokemon, such as Politoed.

Yeh, I noticed that if you caught a missigno you could later catch a level 146 mewtwo and a level 137 Golbat! Unfortunately though, when these pokemon gain 1 experience they gain a level but they go down to level 100???? I remember this glitch well, I like to think of myself as a pokemon veteran. We referred to the sixth slot cheat thing as the rare candy cheat as we mainly used it for the red candy street.

But some people called it other things like big steaming pile of crap as it used to screw up the system!

the extremely high level pokemon vary depending on your trainer number...
