ah yes, the age old meat debate.

this debate's also linked with the debate on weither real world animals live alongside pokemon... for obvious reasons...

since Game Freak isn't going to give any answers, everyone has different opinions on weither people do eat pokemon or not.

my answer is yes, people do eat some pokemon, the most prominent being Farfetch'd.

I could swear I saw Ash eating a Magikarp in one of the anime episodes. Ithink it was called The Great Race or something like that... Anyway, they were in Fuchsia City. Normal animals live alongside Pokemon, because on an episode when they were fishing, Ash mentioned catfish...

Yeah, in the Hypno Episode in mid-Kanto, a Magikarp wasn't flopping around with life like it usually does and Ash makes a remark about how it looked like it was ready for the deli counter. That should be some indictaion.

Yeah, I remember that one too, but he was eating one in Fuchsia City and they were at this big festival and there was a Pokemon race...

Mmm, Steel Types, yummy!

Sorry for that outburst of childishness. I reckon Normal and Water types would be the most commonly eaten.
As pokemon seem to have more of a human like intelligence/feelings. It is likely the edible ones are those with little intelligence/feelings, such as the mentioned Magikarp.
Good luck cooking a Fire type!! Sorry

Nothing to be done
Beef, chicken, fish, etc. For the millionth time, there are real animals in the Pokemon world. Whether or not they co-exist with Pokemon in Japan is up to debate, but meat could still be imported. So when someone in Kanto eats a hamburger, it's beef.

Although rumor has it that a few Poke-dollars under the table can get you some prime Miltank.;)

Hmm, in Diamond and Pearl... professions... cooking?

I've always wondered that myself. I've heard Feebas is a very fine and rare delicacy in Johto.

That would be cool to have cooking a profession in Diamond and Pearl.

I suppose real animals live in the Pokemon world. Nothing bigger than fish, birds, bugs, and a few small mammals though, because the ecosystem can't support a Lapras and a whale in the same ocean. I suppose that they get their red meat from overseas.

Oh, that's not a real Magikarp. It's based on a popular existing snack from Asia. The outside kind of tastes and feel like pancake, and the inside is filled with sweet red beans. They're usually shaped like fish, which is why it looks like a Magikarp in the anime.
