This sounds really nooby, but several times I have seen people talking about Smogon on the forums and I was wondering what it meant?

www.smogon.com is the primary place where people discuss competitive Pokemon battling and engage in said competitive battles. They have a comprehensive strategy dex for most Pokemon and their uses in various competitive tiers, and they have a forum with way too many moderators.

In the future, for questions like this, Google is a valuable resource.
