What's that little bar that appears next to the avatar and how can you change them? (Has Oak charmander and bulbasaur on it.

It's your user rank. It increases after a certain number of posts you have made in your post count. More here.

They simply are what you user rank is...but you cant change it. The user rank will go higher the more you post.
