Chimchar is the best, movepool, stats and a badass kung-fu monkey for a final evolution, though it does remind me of mankey very slightly.

I'm gonna go with Turtwig for the games. I always pick the intermediate-difficulty Pokemon (except in Gold, where I chose the easy one, Cynaquil).

Pochama also is relatively useless in the game, seeing as there are plenty of other water types that do its job as well, if not better, which can be caught early in the game.
