I really hope the writers stay away from the "Ash must have a well-balanced team" formula. I'm sick of him having one fire, one water, one grass, and one flying type every single region. I want more variety; I'd like to see Ash with a Normal type, Ghost type, and a Rock type. The writers need to get Ash to a point in the story where he can learn to train & handle those types, since he's never been able to use them before. The writers left the "Ash must have every starter" formula when Hoenn began, maybe they'll leave this formula behind when D/P starts.

yea that sounds pretty cool, but in johto he had 2 grass, and in orange islands his team was really different.

See? It's the same basic formula of Electric, Grass, Fire, Water, Flying, Random.

Ash will carry Pikachu, Flying Type, Grass Type, Water Type, Fire Type, and something else. I'm hoping that Ash takes Pikachu AND Sceptile to D/P Region, but I wouldn't mind just Pikachu.

He ALWAYS has the first five. He'll probably have a starter, and MIGHT keep one of his old Pokemon appart from Pikachu. Ground is a believable 6th type, but it could be just about anything. Fighting's nice, maybe he could get his Heracross back. Perappu seems like a likely bird Pokemon for Ash, but I think if he got one, he would get it sometime soon.
